Scenario: Mom and Dad take brother and sister to the store to buy a game system. Switch is $299.99 without a game, so they grab one of those for $59.99 and brother and sister want to play two player games so they get $79.99 Joy Cons... And tax...$480 bucks or so.
Or they could get an Xbox or PS4 with a pack in game for like $249.99 or less and an extra controller for $55.00. Hmm, I wonder which one mom and dad are going to go for.
Well... None of the launch titles interest me aside from Zelda... So I'm not going to preorder and probably won't even buy one until Mario comes out. If Mario was a launch title I would preorder immediately. Bummer.
The Wii U is special to me as well. I was diagnosed with a salivary gland tumor in 2012. After my first surgery and all that jazz I bought a Wii U the month it came out. And so the Wii U represents a high point for me in a year that was very down. It gave me something to concentrate on and to this day nothing brings video game joy to me quite the way that Nintendo games do! I still play my Wii U regularly and am in the process of catching up on some games that I missed.
I actually agree with this guy. The more I play Super Mario Run the more I love it. I really love this game. I think it is the best mobile game I've ever played.
@polivar4 I know. I have a bad habit of trading systems in and then regretting it soon after only to go years before I ever fix the situation or just completely give up the idea of ever getting it back.
I now no longer trade in any systems. Games, yes. Systems, no. I value my sanity.
I bought the Wii U at launch and was incredibly enthusiastic about it. But then the long wait times between quality releases and the lack of interest from the world at large tempered my expectations. I still love the Wii U and am glad that I have one. But the rest of the world moved on a long time ago. So here is hoping Nintendo learned a thing or two and that they continue to handle the Switch differently. It sure feels like it so far.
Kind of a bummer. I love my Wii U and was hoping for a platformer like this. It does make sense though. I still have a bunch of great Wii U games to play.... Oh well.
I think this is an awesome commercial. It makes me feel excited to be a part of the games community when it comes out.
I'm also curious to see how the release and popularity of this game on iOS affects the Nintendo Switch release next year. I could imagine a bunch of people, old and young, enthusiastic off the good feelings that this game has given them being much more willing to give the Switch a chance.
