I've read all that about QOL
It's def not about gaming
But Nintendo trying to expand their business

Their next system (which I will purchase regardless)
Would be cool with new ideas, controls, etc
They have been doing that for years -
The controller for every system they put out has been different and inspiring, innovative
While Sony and Xbox can't move away from their current controller formats.
I also would be surprised if Nintendo decides to come out with a new virtual boy!!
Since all the major companies are dabbing into the world, Nintendo could be first...

Wiiu is great for family and fun

Nintendo will always sell consoles off the backs of Mario and Zelda, always.
Whether it's going to be the "best selling" of the next gen consoles is always up in the air-
Also the "latter day" underpowered system they came out with (the wii) won the last generation in terms of sales
So I think power is irrelevant to them because they proved they can do it with new ideas rather then power.

Qol- is suppose to be a separate hardware/ tech/ idea all on its own and may not even be about gaming.
Whatever the new stuff is for gaming integration seems to be a good step
I think they take all the lessons learned from this gen, the wiiu, 3ds, nnid, online store and play, incorporate all that together all the while making sure enough games are being developed for launch of this new console and sit back and watch.
But regardless what it is
There will always be mario, Zelda, DK.
They will sell regardless
And PC will never take over console gaming
Pc has always been more powerful then consoles and yet consoles sell way more
Way way more

Nintendo has the compatible hard drives listed on their website. To complain about it is dumb.

@cyrus_zuo the 3ds did not sell as expected but that doesn't mean it was horrible. To say the best selling system in Japan last year did horrible doesn't sound right...
And this "qol" thing Nintendo will bring is an entirely different market. It won't be games. They are expanding their buisness to have more outlets to make money so they compensate for when their video game branch struggles. I.e., what sony and microsoft do.
Also-
Saying they cant sell to adults is ridiculous. The adults are the ones who are buying the systems and games for kids.
They tried to get the hardcore gamer crowd to come over with wiiu but that obviously didn't work.
And you can blame every reason in the book for that one... marketing. . Lack of games.. lack of power.. graphics... third party support... etc.
Eventually Nintendo will catch on like they are starting to do with their online focus. Linking accounts. More games with multiplayer.
Power n graphics will be next..
Then again... with Nintendo who knows

The problem Nintendo is trying to solve is -
With Wii and the DS they tapped into a new market and expanded the video game market as a whole with software like brainage, wii fit, wii sports- its the "casual" crowd that helped nintendo be successful last gen.
However- this gen with Wii U they seem to have lost that crowd. So their next move is to make a new product dedicated soley to that casual market- while still keeping their video game business going at the same time.
And if they are sucessful they can integrate the two

Konami and Capcom are struggling to capture the success they've had in the past.
LOS- is the best 3d entry. Finally bringing Castlevania into the modern era of gaming.
But if not for that castlevania would be dormant. Ala megaman.
And resident evil has lost its thunder.
Something def wrong w japanese companies.
Only thing konami has going is metal gear asfar as im concerned

@bizcuthammer they've released NES Remix and Dr. Luigi on the eshop. There is no drought. I think Nintendo knows what they're doing as far as upcoming releases for 2014.
They've learned from wiiu launch that they cannot sit idle and expect to succeed on name alone.
I think we can expect more "unannounced" titles to pop up. I believe titles like those mentioned above is what Nintendo was referring to during one of their financial breifings.

It IS the beginning of "recovery"- for those that consider the WiiU a failure in terms of sales.
Regardless of sales I think one has to realize that Nintendo will not stop "injecting" the system due to sales- this isn't Virtual Boy days- and if one trult is a fan of Nintendo then you would know that the "recovery" started with the release of the update, Virtual Console, and Luigi U- along with all the indie games I have downloaded, rayman challenge app, and all the high profile games the system does have at the moment (NSMBU, ZOMBIU, REVEALTIONS, BlackOPs2, LegoCity, Injustice- ) I'm quite happy with my WiiU!! (And all my VC games )

never been a fan of pokemon but this announcement along with the NFCs. The release and success of Pikmin in Japan, the WiiU is beginning its turn around.
I do wonder if this was the "unannounced new types of game(s)" that Iwata mentioned-

I think resident evil was great in the beginning in part 1 because it was zombies. It was a mansion. It was evil. But where the games have gone since then... biohazard is more accurate.

This is just proof that Nintendo has always been different. A leader of innovation. Not afraid to change the rules of gaming.
They also had the floor mat peripheral for the Track n Field game... a la... Wii Fit now

Also day one purchase for me. Along with everything else coming in the next few months!

I've read before that the game is also really short. I can see DLC being demanded in the future

@SkywardCrowbar you can just pay the difference or the exact amount of your purchase. There's an option for it.

Please don't retire yet. At least make sure the wii u gets the greatness it deserves
