Re: Steel Penny Games Update - Part 2

The Wii's box is to blame! -
just compare it to the packaging of the N64 - it should highlight its major features in big writing so the customers knows it plays game cube games and connects to the internet. Everyone knows that 'everyone' doesn't bother reading manuals.

If all you make & sell is first person shooters, your market is people that buy first persion shooters. That market is of a finite size and always will be.

ID like everybody else has to look at their bottom line. How can they grow their audience without becoming un-cool.

Its not easy - look at Nintendo - they are trying to grow their audience and see what happen on places like this.

Everything is unfolding in the Universe as it should be and in the end none of it matters.

... if only the suits could understand what KDR_11k said. Its not rocket science, but then again thats why successful games companies are like rocking horse poo... and why, like the publishing industry you only have a handful of mega publishers who's futures are supported solely on the wobbly foundations of their software houses. You are only as good as you last hit. At least the Wii is a viable platform to encourage inovation and limit risk.

Its easy, if he's asking Why? I'm sure a man who is clever enough to programme should already know the answer - Make casual games that the masses will buy - like .... say ... Nintendo do. But then cant really see Doom-Fit on the shelves any time soon. So yheh Hollenshead, go and make lots more false perspective shooters for guys that are still growing hair on their balls. KillZoneDoomBusters III will always sell the same number of copies to the same demograph that its aimed at. I'm happy playing Family Ski with my daughter and having a laugh.

Thank you Nintendo for at least trying to do something a bit different. You only have to read some of those Nintendo development interviews to see why they are enjoying success. ID are known for one thing, and one thing only - They are a one trick pony.

If only they had released a ripp-off version of Star Raiders on Wiiware, along with retro graphics and great gameplay - on-line co-op for your wingman buddies and I would get em all a round in at the pub.

You can paste flashy visuals and orchestrated musical scores on a bad game all you want, but it will still be a bad game. A nice looking bad game, but a bad game just the same.

... galaxy?

Objection_Blaster - demolish one hive at a time with your whip and eliminate any straglers making their way to the ship before moving onto the next one. Also dont disturb other hives with your bullets or you will get over-run. Hope that helps as I was stuck on this for ages.

Level 9 is a pain in the butt Wiiloveit, thats for sure. My latest strategy is to face away from the ship and deal with advancing bugs while your team mate covers your rear and so deals with any bugs that reach the ship. I have had some success with this tactic but its vital not to disturb any nests. Still get wasted on normal though. Thats why I'm such a kid!

I don't make a habit of trading in games but sometimes 'need must' - So dont feel bad about it Objection_Blaster - jst make sure you hang onto those clasics though or rare titles. There's just too much content on these new consoles to get it all !- what we need is a swap shop

Re: Review: Onslaught (WiiWare)

WindOnFire - I suck at this game too being still stuck on level 9. As for the level 8 mantis, I just constantly circle him from a respectable distance while sending over everything you have to his soft green spot under his head - he'll soon go down.

Re: Review: Onslaught (WiiWare)

Thanks for the warm welcome Objection_Blaster - this is seriously one of the most entertaining games I've played in a long time. Its 'distilled' blasting action of the highest order and its one of the only games I've played where you can literally be knee deep in bugs - its just relentless action! - If you like shooting alien bug scum your going to be in for a treat. I hope they have more installments. See you online.

Watch ya Mik - Level 6 no so bad - make your way to the high ground in the middle of the level and just protect those supply crates best you can. I only had 2 crates left when the time run out so only just made it!

First post, so 'hey up' all. This game is cheap as chips and very addictive. I'm stuck on level 9 'fight to the last' - how is it possible to protect all sides of your ship - its driving me nuts. Anyway, nice site and people. Going to splat some more bugs.
