One doesn't need to read everything to know a Super Mario game will top the list. Why?
Earthbound is a monumental masterpiece of media, in writing, music, world building and much more. It's something we comprehend better as adult.
Super Metroid still feels as fresh and difficult as any other Metroid game, even more than Dread (not because of the stupid wall jump). A milestone game of metroidvania genre.
Super Marios is another (great) 2D platformer. It's the face of Nintendo and I love it too. But I dont get why it has to top every list ever on every system.
TLA is part 2 of one big game, not a sequel. It's objectively better with a cooler cast (plus the OG ones, how could 8 be worse than 4?), much bigger map (spoiler: 12yo me was mindblown when I had to go OUTSIDE of the world map to progress), diverse enemies/bosses/djinn/etc. Better yet? Motoi Sakuraba outdid himself with the OST. 10/10
The Switch hardware is not an excuse for a 2022 game that looks and runs worse than a PS2 game. Xeno series, SMTV, Astral Chain and a tons of games look amazing and run acceptably. Ports like the latest Persona 5r are incredible (for what the Switch is). PKMN devs are just incompetent.
Bridge to the Turnabout is all about Godot - the most tragic villain of the whole series. How can you put it in the top spot and not write about Godot!
Unpopular opinion: Joe Hisaishi's best music is his work with Takeshi Kitano (Sonatine, Silent Love, Kids Return etc.) and his synth-infused solo albums (Curved Music, projects under Wonder City Orchestra).
His Ghibli stuff is lovely and memorable, but just weaker in terms of music production imo. Nausicaä is the first and best for me.
@Bratwurst35 at the end of the day, it's true that your friend will have a better gaming experience after all. Maybe he's just like me who has 3 dozens of games in the backlog. I have zero needs for the Steam Deck and find it ugly, no thanks. Not to mention the thrill of buying new tech. That's the reason people upgrade to the new Iphone/Galaxy every one or two years.
Of course a VGM composer is inspired by the Yellow Magic Orchestra! (please spell out the name). YMO's frontman Haruomi Hosono arranged the first real VGM album, aptly titled "Video Game Music" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49ZK_EVWIBM
If Sword Shield is worth $60, most games should cost 90+. I paid like $15 for Dead Cells and have had ~400 hours in it, talk about endless entertainment.
@TheLightSpirit yeah I got to like 600 without paying anything ever. Tbf the game is very challenging with tons of content and depth, you can put a good 45-60 mins into one session. A perfect mobile game.
Funny this article doesn't mention the single most addictive, love-hate and most played spinoff ever called Pokemon Shuffle. I think I put in well over 1000 hours into both the mobile and 3DS versions lol.
This is quite believable. The next update will be similar to what they did with the 3DS, which is incremental but much appreciated. The number of games that will be affected will be negligible.
Try to use Switch Lite for a while and come back to N3DS (the regular new one, not XL) and you will LOVE the pocketability of the older system. Toilet, taxi ride, train, all those 15 mins waiting for your unpunctual friends etc. the device follows you everywhere. If Nintendo could ever make a Switch Micro (with folding screen and 3DS flat stick?) the size of, say GBA SP, that would be the greatest piece of hardare ever.
How can people praise IX on Switch? It's a terrible port. Bad fps, battle takes 10 seconds to load, the already blurry ps1 graphic looks even worse on Switch.

Motoi Sakuraba at his finest. Main Theme GS2 makes me cry, such a nostalgic game

Re: Nintendo Is Opening Its Fourth Store In Japan This Year
If I'm not mistaken, Pokemon Center in Fukuoka will reopen in a couple of weeks too (it closed last week), also at Amu Plaza..
Great news as Fukuoka is arguably the third most vibrant city in Japan

Due to this article, I'm getting Bayo 1, 2 and 3. Much ado over nothing!

Re: Feature: Best Game Boy Advance (GBA) Games
Fair list, too many incredible games. My only issue is Drill Dozer/Astro Boy being so low at 34 then 35. Then again I myself forgot to vote Astro lol.
Re: Best Nintendo 3DS RPGs
SMTIV is better than every single JRPG on Switch, including DQXI. I'm not even exaggerating.

I just finished SMT IV and really hungry for more Atlus content. Their writing is just so clever, funky and hilarious at the same time.

Not surprised. Even games like Dead Cells stutter when there are lots of enemies and explosions on the screen.
