Re: Poll: Are You Optimistic About Nintendo's 2016?

dammerouso

I really want Nintendo to succeed with the nx but u fear it may now be too late to turn gamers away from Sony and Microsoft. I am a huge Nintendo fan and for the first time ever I am considering not buying their next offering. I am getting fed up of the repetition and constant use if the Mario IP while neglecting other IP I have more interest in.

Perhaps its just a personal thing as I'm not big on turn based combat in jrpg's and have no interest in pokemon or most other Japanese style titles. I do however love Zelda, Metroid, Eternal Darkness among many others.

My interests lie now with online gaming with FPS titles and sports games and Nintendo is so far behind the competition in this area it makes me sad.

In SNES era we had super soccer and super tennis both good sports games and not a Mario or pokemon in sight it seems Nintendo has the thought process of put these IP in a title to sell it instead of make the game enjoyable, playable and competitive (Mario tennis, Mario soccer say hello)

That being said Splatoon gives me hope for the future.

Re: Fascinating Patent Shows Nintendo Portable Utilising Free-Form Screen Technology

Like others have said I don't believe Nintendo would go without physical buttons on the face of the controller. My theory is the screen would be used in a similar way to Wii U games (maps, HUD, inventory, touch keyboard etc) and allow some form of backwards compatibility with Wii U but also allow the user to play Nintendo's mobile games which would be available in the e shop. I do hope they integrate a 3ds successor into that controller as well but feel this may not be user friendly and also make the device very costly. I love all these rumours and patents though its very exciting 😊

Re: New Nintendo Controller Patent Features Rotational Shoulder Buttons

@Adamario Good memory, I remember seeing that controller and thinking it would work well. If Nintendo could have incorporated the motion control of the wii mote into that set up I think it would have been a better option than the Wii mote and nunchuck. I really disliked the Wii Mote and how it felt like it was forced upon me as it spoiled some great games.

As for scrolling shoulder buttons as long as they are clickable I think they could work, but agree with others who think this patent relates to a mobile device for 1 key reason to hold the device in one hand and operate wheel with your thumb would indicate the device is vertical and the other hand is utilizing the touchscreen - also due to position of scroll wheels to operate them one handed the screen must use gyro to auto rotate as scroll wheel would need to be in a position that right or left handed people could operate comfortably.

Most Nintendo fans will say how having fun playing a game is far more important than graphics and frame rate.

Then we get a look at this and people complain about graphics and frame rate even though the game looks fun.

I personally like think due to the lack of this type of game on wii u it will find a kind of niche community and provide hours of fun play online (crosses fingers) and be like some sort of cult cheesy horror film that people speak about being not a good horror film but more of a comedy if you don't take it too seriously.

I guess I'm trying to say as long as your not expecting battlefield, COD, gears etc it could be fun and perhaps hold passing final judgment till we have had a look at the multiplayer which apparently a lot focus was placed upon.

For the record this is a game i have been looking forward too and I have not been put off a purchase yet but if the multiplayer does not review well then that may change, frame rate or general graphical issues wont be the deciding factor for me though.

I'm disappointed to read that the game didn't play well (couldn't care less about graphics) but it still managed to look fun to me so will give it a chance as think the multiplayer could be really good. There's plenty of videos on youtube of new gameplay footage and they seem to run smooth enough to me (I'm on my mobile) Here is a link to a guy that has posted a few http://youtu.be/LMMfnDI_TkY

Re: First Impressions: Our Maiden Flight In Star Fox Zero Prompts Mixed Emotions

I really fear for nintendo - unless the NX is a gimmick free and powerfull machine that 3rd partys can develop for.

I mean it would have to launch with a Metroid game that had the fps elements of battlefield the atmosphere of alien isolation and perhaps some gears of war/uncharted 3rd person play. Even then Nintendo are going to struggle to win gamers back - even though it pains me to say that.

For what its worth I think the NX will be VR but without 3rd party support it will struggle cute and colourfull is hardly the best virtual reality environment. But a metroid game like the previously mentioned in VR that would be something. Star fox is another game that would work well in VR. So there is hope.

And I think Mario maker could be really special the more I see from the tree house at e3.

Its been pretty much silence in relation to this game and with rumours of the visuals being totally upgraded and its focus on not only a great campaign (crosses fingers) but also an immersive online multiplayer. I think this could be a real surprise at E3. But then again it is a Nintendo exclusive so the melee weapons may be inflatable musical instruments and the guns might shoot fruit or something
