Re: Talking Point: Review Scores and Unwinnable Arguments

bonham2

I'll admit that I tend to look at the score first, but if it's a game I am even slightly interested in, I'll always read the review with an open mind. I also prefer familiar sites (like this one) because over time I learn the reviewers' likes and dislikes. I know if I'm reading a Zelda review written by a Call of Duty freak, I shouldn't put too much stock in it. And on the flip side, it annoys me how people will praise the latest game in their favorite series with a 9.5 or 10 only to bash it in the next few weeks/months.

Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console

@Knux Just because PSN does it does not mean that we are entitled to it. That's an awesome feature that you get as a Sony customer. Nintendo has every right to make money off of their IPs. If people are willing to buy the games AGAIN and AGAIN on multiple platforms, then why shouldn't they continue to resell them? They don't have to sell us the upgraded games for a serious discount. I'm very happy they are, but they don't have to. They already gave us the ability to move our VC games onto our Wii U. Yeah, Wii Mode sucks (I hate it), but I can still play all of my VC games on my Wii U (for no extra charge). They're not forcing us to buy anything people.

Re: Renegade Kid Clarifies 3DS Piracy Comments

@Geonjaha Exactly...

Most games sell their best when released, and roms aren't usually even available that early on. And most people downloading ROMS are not necessarily lost sales. I have never been into pirating, I still buy every game I really want, because as a collector, I like to have the physical media.

Re: Talking Point: Time for Wii U to Treat Us Like Adults

bonham2

This would have been a good opportunity to talk about the stupid MiiVerse restrictions as well. How come I can't post normal adult conversation in a M-Rated game's community. If the game has cursing in it, why can't we curse in MiiVerse? Parental controls should stop kids from accessing those communities.

It's not a big deal that I can't curse in the ZombiU MiiVerse community, but it's just another example of Nintendo limiting adults to protect the children.

The US should've gotten the ZombieU bundle, or at least a Mario bundle. I couldn't care less about Nintendo Land (which should've included in the $300 system.

Re: The Mystery of the Super Mario Bros. U.S. Release Date

@LittleBigVita
It's been well documented through interviews with Miyamoto that Mario's appearance was solely due to the limitations of the graphics at the time. He has a mustache because mouths were too hard to draw. He has a hat because his hair was too hard to animate. And the color of his clothes were bold colors that made the character easily recognizable and different from the backgrounds.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd February 2010 (North America)

bonham2

Blame North America for the lack of VC updates? That's ridiculous. Nintendo has done a terrible job of even making it known which games are coming and which games are available. Also, with the exception of the big name games, most people have never heard of or played most of these games. If Nintendo could offer a gameplay video or a demo, people might be more inclined to buy these games. Also, Nintendo needs to look at their pricing scheme. $8 for a Genesis game is really high, especially if they're hoping people will buy them on a whim. $5 for Super Mario Bros. 3 is fine, but $5 for Ice Climbers is ridiculous. How about tiered pricing?

It doesn't matter what we say anyway. Nintendo isn't listening, and even if they were, they could care less.

Re: Sega to Abandon Mature Wii Audience?

bonham2

MATURE??? It's funny that Sega would call MadWorld and HotD: Overkill. Sega thinks that all we want is foul language and buckets of blood. News flash Sega - These games would've sold like crap if they were released on the 360 & PS3 too. I played each one of them. HotD was an on-rail shooter...no big deal. MadWorld was boring and repetitive and completely over-the-top and ridiculous. Sega is just lost when it comes to what adults want. It seems to me that they are trying to sell to a niche group of gamers - young teenagers and pre-teens that want lots of blood and naughty language...that's not "Mature".

Dead Space Extraction was a good game, but again, it's a rail shooter. Dead Space is probably my favorite 360 game, yet I didn't buy Extraction until the price went down. I can't justify $50 on a rail shooter.

Re: Review: Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (Wii)

I haven't played the game, so I can't really comment on the score, but I'm going to anyway. It seems like a pretty forgiving score based on the review - "sub par graphics, clunky controls, and unsatisfying puzzle solving". I've heard some pretty terrible things about this game, and this review is not going to sway me.
