Re: Hands On: How Will the "Open World" Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Suit a Traditional Gamer?

Yes I know what comparisons you're making, you're making comparisons to the story as that is your biggest complaint against BotW in terms of how ambitious it is which doesn't even make sense as we don't know how in depth the story is. You're assuming that the game is light on story just because you can go beat the game right from the beginning. Will the game have an incredible, in depth story? Probably not, but IT MIGHT!!! You try to point fingers at me saying I'm making assumptions when I'M NOT, YOU ARE!!!

Lastly, whether a game has a good story or not is totally up to the individual. What someone might find entertaining someone else might find boring. The Completionist said in his review that he didn't care too much for the story in Skyrim and from what I've seen of the story it doesn't look too interesting to me either.

One thing that I haven't seen anyone talk about is the fact that most people can't play the game because their smartphone is too old. How many people are there that WANT to play it but they can't because they don't have a tablet and their phone isn't good enough to run it? I'd guess it's a rather large number. How many millions of kids would be playing this if they were able but they can't or just people on a tight budget?

YOU are making assumptions, not me, I never said there would be a great story, there MIGHT BE a great story, we don't know. Don't ever put words in my mouth. To answer your question, no I have not played any of those and I really have no desire to. Especially GTA, it is an abomination that should not exist. Fallout and Elder Scrolls look all right but nothing special to me. They both look very stiff to me in their gameplay and they both take themselves far too seriously, not willing to accept criticism, but hey I guess paying off reviewers will do that. Nintendo's first party games have fluid, smooth gameplay that I don't hardly see from anyone else.

Zelda is my favorite series ever but I'm not ever going to say the games are without flaws. You can think a game is incredible but still find flaws in it and it bothers me to see people heap SO MUCH praise on The Last of Us when it has some pretty big flaws.

You don't think BotW looks like an ambitious game? Did you see the same game I did? Did you see the shrines of trial? We don't know how much of a story there is to the game or how good it is but the one woman from the Treehouse stream seemed like she really, genuinely thinks the story is really good.
I guarantee you the stasis shrine trial is not the most interesting trial in the game and it is still really cool. With over 100 shrines the possible gameplay mechanics they have in store is incredible.

Why would you be worried about Nintendo's core gaming focus? If anything the revenue they bring in on mobile will only strengthen their core gaming experiences. If Nintendo wasn't keeping their main focus on core games then they wouldn't be making an incredibly ambitious Zelda game. It costs millions of dollars to rent out that much floor space at E3 and who knows how much more it cost to construct the Zelda booth. The game deserves the advertisement though.

On topic, Mr. Iwata was one of the most influential figures in the entire history of video games. Even more importantly, he was a good person, you didn't need to know him personally to know that. I really wish I could have met him and had a conversation with him.

I'm really glad I don't know you personally, at least I hope I don't. I wasn't even talking to you in that conversation so how can I change the subject of something you had no part of? There is no doubt in my mind you and greengecko007 are the same person or at the very least are friends in real life. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if both of you were developers on the witcher 3. You people are untrustworthy wretchs. I really wish I didn't have to say that as much as I do, I wish I didn't have to say it at all.

Unless you've read through our entire discussion you have no right throwing your two cents in. He's the one trying to change what the argument's about because he knows he's been caught in his hypocrisy. He was also trying to say I don't know what a double standard is when I do, it's hypocrisy and that's exactly what he is, a hypocrite. If pop in is an issue to you in one game it should be an issue to you in another. Trying to change the subject is the only thing he can do because he knows he is in the wrong, and it's very immature. If you can't stay on the original topic and veer into another direction then you're not worth talking to.

What I said came out wrong. I was aggravated dealing with trolls and I took my frustration out on you. I wasn't trying to suggest that YOU were thinking the name of a game would affect it's quality, just that I think others who read your comment might get that impression. What I believe Nintendo's thinking on the title was this, Breath of the Wild people will equate to 'breath of fresh air', I'm guessing you've probably thought this as well but the pessimist in you knows most people will instantly think bad breath. It was honestly my first thought as well. When I first saw breath in the title I instantly thought 'this isn't good'. We don't know yet how this will affect sales obviously but I want to remain hopeful.
I wholeheartedly agree with you in one of your other posts equating xbox gamers, both kids and adults, to immaturity. I would add a good number of playstation gamers as well. I rarely see a Nintendo gamer acting like a 5 year old. I think most kids today are very immature mainly because they have terrible, immature parents but I know that's what you were getting at. I will say this though, your response to me was very condescending and immature. More than anything I think you were just like me, letting frustration get to you and venting in a rant.

Re: Scott Moffitt is Leaving Nintendo

Zeldafanforlife

@Porpoise
I fail to see you're logic. Just because a game has a name that you don't care for does that automatically make the quality of the game worse? I don't think so. I happen to like the name Breath of the Wild, it conveys exactly what the game is, going out into the Wild. The name of a game has no impact on it's quality and your ill feelings towards it serves no purpose.

You've also got the Cloud amiibo that works with other games and is a nice collectible. There's a difference between having a positive outlook on something and having a negative outlook on something and with the way you say things all it does is make me and anyone else who reads what you type think that you WANT people to think negatively about Nintendo. Tell me, do you want people to think negatively about Nintendo?

I haven't played witcher but from videos I've seen the pop in is really bad there too at points. Seeing an entire group of people spawn right in front of you. I saw one video where it was an entire building. You don't think that's hilariously bad? You're double standards and hypocrisy are astounding.

For the record, I don't even care about pop in. I just needed to call out a hypocritical fanboy.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Produces Extended Breath of the Wild Technical Analysis

@electrolite77
Sure there are going to be complaints but why is it only truly brought to the forefront when it comes to Nintendo? To see the complaints with the witcher you have to go out of your way to find people complaining. With Nintendo it's brought up constantly, you don't need to go out of your way to see the complaints when it comes to them. Jose Otero from ign complained about pop in in Xenoblade Chronicles X in his review but I've never once heard him complain about it in the witcher even when he's talking about both of them. Yes there most definitely are double standards with most people.

Over the last 2 fiscal years Nintendo has made a little over half a billion in profit. $380 million in 2014 and $150 million in 2015. If they're still turning a profit even in a transition period how do you think they'll be doing when they have all their other initiatives up and running? Their movies, theme parks and others? I think they'll be just fine in a couple of years. Also, what do you think the Cloud amiibo's functionality is going to be in the FF7 remake?
