Wow, good game. The first RPG since ToS I really played through (and I bought ToS day 1...). It's a bit easy, but has it's challeging moments: If you have absolutly no clue what to do, you will die at first try. I'm slightly dissapointed by most of the endings. Most of them are just easter egg endings with no epic feel (looked them up in the internet). Nevertheless, it's an entertaining RPG game. It's not that heavy on story and character like FFIII, but still a full grown experience. Actually, it was such a nice experience, I will have a second look at SoM and SMRPG.
Currently, I'm not that enthusiastic about this game. Tracks are too short, thus if you crash and have to witness the aweful long crash scene, you already lost. I dont mind playing perfectly in the higher leagues, but this started right from the beginning. Additionally, it's hard to figure out the right flow out of a track: sometimes, opponents can catch up pretty easiely, although you catch every opportunity to boost and keep up the speed. Moreover, there is no quick option to restart a race, making things worse.
Maybe I will have to play a bit longer, but I played enough racers to tell something is not right in FAST's gaming mechanics and dificulty - and I finished F-Zero GX 100%...
Reminds me of the fact Nintendo has to seriously provide 3D trailers and demos for the device. If they complain about how hard it is to tell people about the 3D, do something about it. There has to be a dedicated Club Nintendo preview trailer and demo channel with 3 D footage.
Don' t be so sure. Nintendo isn't shy to drop prices if sales are below expectations. See Nintendo 64. Interestingly, regarding current "success" and potential/quality of the handheld, the 3DS might share some similarities with the N64 in the long run.
@43: Thx Oregano. It makes me sad how little most of you seem to "understand" this great franchise, especially the master piece GX, if you want it in the hands of those amateurs named firebrand. And Retro does not have experience in racing games.
If they cant come up with something better than GX, just port/remake it to 3DS. That would be the only 3DS remake I fully appreciate.
CT is already moving up the german Wii download charts (yes, there are different chart calculations depending on the country you log in Wii Shop). I downloaded it, hope it keeps me more entertained than SoM or SMRPG.
I start to prefer this game over SF43D, simply for the fact the 3DS' button layout is much more suited to pull out all the required moves.
Additonally, SF hadnt the feel to beat that game: all was unlocked pretty much right from the beginning. After beating the game at ultra hard, there just were not enough motivation left to unlock some medals or trophies for street pass matches u would hardly encounter.
I was annoyed about all those over-critical complains about the fps in DOA:D's 3D mode, since every 3DS game displayed in 3D mode will run with 30 fps. I dont feel I'm missing sthg when playing RidgeRacer3D in 3D mode. But for some strange reason this is much more obvious in DOA. It just doesnt feel good and hurts my eyes, so i prefer 2D while fighting. Cinematic 3D sequences in this game are a whole different story!
I dont know how you feel, but I couldnt care less about this remake. There were too many iterations and there is no way the 3DS control scheme can transfer the original "playing the ocarina" control scheme.
I hope it really is a mix of f-zero wipeout. Wipeout: the looks (check), f-zero playabilty/controlls (we will see). Since I'm a racing freak this is an instant buy as long as it doesnt completly fail. But there have to be new F-Zeros for 3DS and that new home console!
@10: Whaaaat?! Seeing the VJ screenshot I'd even prefer a full grown Viewtiful Joe 3 coming for 3DS. No more street fighter style games plz for the time being. And releasing a sequel to the meh-successfull geek's love TvC on a dieing system would especially be crazy.
@JimLad: I don't think Miyamoto spoke english at all during the interview except some english-japanese words. So this is just a translation.
And why cant there be TouchScreen-buttons? Considering camera adjusting wont be heavily used, that could work perfectly fine. Hell, I even think touch screen camera might work for 3DS Monster Hunter.
Why are you so thrilled about this policy update? The new policy just updates the fact your club nintendo data will be needed in Nintendo Japan to grant you all the upcoming 3DS online benefits. Previously, it was all Euro-data base.
I logged in NoE and it says they gonna need your agreement for connecting upcoming 3DS online features with Nintendo of Japan's servers/databases.
The trouble about losing stars might result from the fact you will need to connect to Nintendo Japan in order to get stars for 3DS features/download games.
Meh, this isnt remake enough, seems to be more like a port. I mean, if it were an overhaul to some extend, why can they say "it does include master quest alongside"? If this keeps like this, I'm even more thrilled for the star fox remake since 3D is making more sense there at least.
Well, I expected this to happen earlier. Its way too late now "introducing" the MotionPlus. It should have been done along with the WSR or close to it.
Well, seeing the 3DS release list I now really wish there was an eShop ready and running. Luckily, there are still two or three 3DS launch games, I might buy in this time frame.
Ouwh, I hope this is not a first sign that there wont be any MH in the 3DS history, because chances are Capcom wants to keep the mobile Monster hunters associated with Sony and PSP. On the other hand, there is a smart phone version... well, we will see.
@31: I think MH controls on 3DS can be done, camera controls with touch screen are possible. I see no room for "clawing" though, since D-Pad and Analogue Stick switched locations compared to PSP.
@29 I bet MH Tri offered you AT LEAST 60h+ gameplay. It's pretty harsh stating it doesnt offer much in the long run, especially since MH games are known for the fact that you can make them your very own gameing experience. And Tri is even at the low end regarding content compared to other MH games...
The high price is killing it atm. The 3DS does not have the killer sales it could have. I'm very sceptical about the 3DS' success, altough I want it to succeed. Maybe it just has a slower start like the phat DS. But for this time, Nintend missed a chance to have a real impact sales-wise.
This guide is not taking into account there wont be many new releases in certain genres for the next couple of months. That said, I dont see why PES or Ridge Racer are not must buys for the time being, if you are into football or racing. The gampelay of both games is there and intact. SMB3D on the other side suffered from gameplay downgrading AND lacks content.
I think there are only 3 games the 3DS currently has to offer providing real high class gameplay, that might appeal to people who are not very enthusiastic about the genres: Street Fighter, Pilotwings and (of all you hear about it:) Ghost Recon.
I had owned a PSP. The most useless game device I ever had. It failed as a handheld (too big, screen non protected, no battery life to write home about) and as a video game console in general (game library is pathetic, I only really wanted 2 1/2 games). So sold it, to make room and money for 3DS. I dont see how NGP will improve on this, its bigger, still not protected, battery life wont get better, two sticks will make it even more pocket unfriendly.
Playing in public with a handheld was never that "cool" since I got my 3DS. I dont know if all people who see me playing this think of me being cool, but I feel cool. Just buy cosmos black and all things are settled.
This game is one of the few launch titles with real value gameplay (just not content), but being just WSR in Pilotwings-mode is a dissapointment. I mean, seriously, next Wave Race is like the WSR jet ski racing?! Ah, it actually would look like that, since Nintendo already stated, WSR jet ski racing is better than Wave Race could have ever been...
I agree with the score. I'm a semi experienced RR-player and I think there are some missteps in AI-performance, some slowdowns and even too much customizing options. I'm not too happy with the visuals as well, some minor ghosting at some occasions, and visuals in general arent crisp enough, this can hurt the 3d experience. But still, its a GOOD racer and if you are into racing, go buy it.
I got this game for free by amazon. Thus, I didnt feel cheated. Its an OK game if you can get it free or very, very cheap. Will sell it nevertheless. Ridge Racer is the better deal.
And since noone brought this up yet: as*-fault! ololol
No way: keep manuals... print manuals to be more correct. Make them even fater, more colorful, put in more artwork, more detailed, make them smell better. And btw.: Nintendo itself does not publish multi language manuals in each of the european countries; usually the manual only contains the target country's language (unlike the game itself).
About the case: well, it looks to be very fragile. Ever bought and seen DVD-boxes with that huge holes? Those things even damage the inlay sometimes.
I liked the DKC games, but only DKC2 offered decent gameplay. However, DKC-gameplay was never that deep and special, so releasing just another 2D-Jump'Run doesnt do the trick to me, since 2D jumpers are not that special anymore these days.
Only 3 bananas? I thought you had to come up with a real bunch of bananas, but this is cheap. I buy at least twice as many in a week. I'm in good health though
I dont think DJ Jr. will ever return. My theory about his appearence in SMK is just for having a white shirt, making him more visible.
Mario Tennis is a good game but I came to the conclusion I'm not into this genre. Aside from that, MT did the best to give me a good time. The overly childish presentation (especially the intro) with ugly, blocky characters feels weired.
I think the review is a bit misleading calling this game a non-racer. The "puzzle" component is shared by many simple racers, let's say Excitebike. You have to do the right thing at the right time at the right position. Thats just memorizing gameplay and even part of the gameplay of some true racers. And there are still true racing influences in lightrax, e.g. personal boost, get into a better position than the opponent, dont let him stay between two lines, etc. I enjoyed it so far, although graphics could be more clean regarding the simple design. No multiplayer and no leader board is a downer. But regarding multiplayer, since this is a "memorizing-gameplay" racer, its hard to tell if it would make any sense in the long shot.

Who cares for this bs none-game? I hate to say, but this is kiddie stuff. This ruins all the "mature" feel the 3DS has earned and promised so far.

Re: Two Beautiful Minutes of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Footage
Whats wrong with ur video integration, NL? its all slide show and slow on my side of things; on youtube its perfectly smooth.

Well, the Nintendo 3DS isnt selling like hot cakes, unlike when the Wii was released for instance.
There are various reasons for this:
I think Nintendo missed a big chance here. A more reasonable pricing would have had a real significant impact on improving the sales.
