Comparably, the sticker tape on my Sackboy voucher for ModNation Racers tore some of the code away while I was scratching it. Sony wanted me to fax them a copy of the torn voucher, my ModNation receipt, and a bunch of my PSN information in order to 'look into it.'
Then I remembered I don't like ModNation Racers and I played Mario Kart instead.
Not really surprising. It's not as if Nintendo particularly needs to match the Wii's sales right now. Not sure why people would set the Wii as the standard, since it released under completely different circumstances.
Look at it this way: They've got a head start on the next generation, and there really isn't any major competition for the Wii U right now. They're not even advertising it as much as they did with the Wii. I don't really think they're expecting or pushing for huge sales at the moment. I think they're holding their guns for when they'll need them.
I mean, what's the point of pushing sales right now if there aren't even any other companies getting in the way?
"It would appear that Miyamoto feels the franchise is unable to offer anything new"
I don't think that's what he was trying to say. When he asked "What do you want that we haven’t done before?" I think he was moreover wondering what kinds of new things fans would like to see if there were a potential sequel.
After all, most Nintendo franchises add some new and unique mechanic for each game, what would the next F-Zero have?

Holy damn do I love you, Level-5.
