Dragon Quest debuted on Nintendo before Final Fantasy and continued to come out on Nintendo platforms during Final Fantasy's Sony gap. If I'm not mistaken every DQ game that wasn't on a Nintendo originally was later ported to one ( VII and VIII come to mind ).

As for Cloud being the go-to rep for FF, I don't know about that so much. Cecil seems to me to be the more obvious rep of the series.

Are these game listed together or separately digitally? Because I, personally, do not need another copy of X-2.

So, for the digital versions, it's 2 separate games? With separate savefiles? The whole split release thing is super confusing.
