Re: Soapbox: Don't Listen To The Pokémon: Let’s Go Haters - The Game Has Definitely Found Its Audience

Silkyinsect_UK

Surprised myself by picking this up day 1, always saw it as an xmas game to be honest, and I'm certainly enjoying it. I'm 30 so Blue/Red/Yellow were huge back then, the nostalgia is strong with this one. It's undoubtedly pretty as well!

However I just see this as a HD remaster with GO mechanics and as far as remasters go it's pretty basic. The battle animations are quite poor really and a lot of the modern trimmings you'd get with Pokèmon games nowadays are not present.

I know it's not a mainline game and at 30 I'm not the 'target' audience but I also picked up the Spyro remaster at the same time and when comparing the two as remasters Let's Go is kind of underwhelming. However... It's still Pokèmon and I like Pokèmon so I'm not unhappy right now 👍

Let's Go certainly has it's draw backs but I am quite surprised by just how good looking the game is. On Sunday I had an afternoon of Red Dead 2 on the Xbox One then finished up my gaming sesh with Let's Go. The colours just pop and just looks really nice, even having played something so graphically superior moments before. Nintendo really do have a way of getting the most out of it's hardware!

Re: Nintendo Confirms That There Are Now More Than 1,300 Games Available On Switch

@Blizzia I guess my definition of true 3rd party support is what we're seeing with Bethesda and Ubi with Skyrim, Doom, Starlink etc... Games that are appearing on other consoles but are on Switch with no real compromise. There hasn't currently been enough of that. Games on the E shop, most can be found on other consoles and cheaper, if the switch is your only console great, but if it's not the e shop isn't really offering much new. Which is fine I guess...

But besides that, it's your opinion dude, glad you can name all those games. I personally don't think this year has been all that good, it's getting better towards Xmas which always happens. Enjoy those games man 👍

@Blizzia Wind your neck in, have you any idea how patronising you are!? If there's anyone acting like a baby it's you and your petulant response to my opinion.

Thanks for the life lesson about broadening my horizons, I'd say my taste is already quite broad and to be honest it's probably broader than most folks including yours. I've been playing games since the Mega Drive and I'm happy to play any genre, mainstream, indie or whatever and I've probably put thousands and thousands of pounds into the 20 or so years I've been gaming. I've played a lot and I play a lot.

But please broaden my horizons you're obviously of superior taste... 👌

The switch, regardless of what you think, is still lacking a diverse range of top tier games. Mainly in part due to a lack of true 3rd party support. Nintendo has been plagued by this for years, thankfully that does look to be changing with the success of the Switch.

And yes I can compare the Switch to the Xbox and PS4 and any other gaming device. The switch is not 'new' it's been out a while.

If I want to play an RTS, a fully blown RPG, a top quality shooter, a puzzle game whatever I have a plethora of options on other consoles that simply blow most of what's on the switch out of the sky, games that have come out this year alone, not even considering what has come before. Why? Because they have more support. Though I would say Xbox is struggling worse for quality 1st party games.

The big Nintendo hitters this year that are fresh, new experiences are Mario Aces, Octopath, Mario Party and Xenoblade Torna... what else? Seriously. AAA games here?

Your such a typical character to find hanging around on forums, you're lucky I bothered responding. If you hadn't been so patronising I wouldn't have...

Re: UK Gaming Magazines GamesMaster and GamesTM Set To Close Next Month

@MeatSauce I fear that it's not far off that we'll all be experiencing life entirely through our phones/tablets/laptops. Mags, books, galleries, libraries etc offer genuinely stimulating breaks away from our screens... It's sad that our options on how to consume culture are slowly getting taken away from us. Worse still, by the sound if things people don't really care!

Re: UK Gaming Magazines GamesMaster and GamesTM Set To Close Next Month

Silkyinsect_UK

Devastated to be honest. I'm sick of spending more and more time on my phone and on computers... reading a book or a magazine at leisure is a fantastic break away. I buy both of these magazines each month... sad, annoyed at this. Edge is the only multiplat gaming mag now and that's just full of high brow pretentious nonsense most of the time 😕

@Heavyarms55 yes to win a professional footballing contract at 32, which is quite old for sportsman, when he's never had a career in football is impressive and quite unique. It's like going from playing cricket to being a boxer... a huge career change and very demanding on the body, especially at 32. But as you say you don't follow sport so this means nothing to you...

Re: Feature: Our Favourite Mario Party Memories

Silkyinsect_UK

I think in the original Mario Party there was a mini game in one of the menu screens where you had to wind up a Shy Guy toy and have it fly across a particular distance. You had to circle the joy stick as fast as you could but I found it ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to go the whole distance. I used to go to school with huge blisters on the palms of my hands where the tip of the stick had burned my skin I was trying so damn hard to wind that little f****r up! Ha!
