Cyber Shadow should be on this list.

Although it seems linear at first, the levels start to interconnect after a while and you can go back and look for secrets. Not the most "pure Metroidvania", but it does have many of the elements, and the quality of the visual design and the action is incredible.

Played all of these and absolutely agree with the top two picks. I did really enjoy Fates: Conquest, but it's hard to separate the overall experience from the story for me. Maybe I loved it because of the gameplay, and not the story.

Are they going to patch it to improve the terrible graphics and pop-in on Switch? It is a great game though.

Better than the first game. More of a focus on flow and speed. The controls are honestly pretty good, and I like the aesthetic. Could definitely be blown out into a bigger game... would pay $4.99 for that.

I enjoyed Fusion... but calling it better than Super Metroid, Metroid Prime, Prime 2, or Zero Mission is just bonkers.

Cyber Shadow was easily my favorite. Cared nothing for the story, but the controls, visuals, special powers, and level designs were spectacular.

No Jamestown+? This is a crime. Great shooter with a ton of personality.

This is a really great game BTW. I love games like Mario, Rayman, and Celeste, and I enjoyed it a lot.

The Impossible Lair is excellent. Almost as good as Tropical Freeze.

Forget indie games.
