I totally agree. Firstly because Capcpom is hot on the classics packages with Mega Man, and doing everything they can do avoid Legends & Tron Bonne, so why not Resident Evil next. Secondly to make these games accessible and archived to a wider audience. And thirdly because, even if they are technically inferior to the remakes, they are vastly different games from the remakes. For instance, I don't have a constitution to play the remakes, they're too realistically horrifying, but RE 1-3 are silly and distant in a way I can enjoy them.
I'd like to know if any VG composers were influenced by the Grateful Dead. But then again, it would be hard to do video game music that never looped or played quite the same way every time.
