@jco83 you might be too young for this but back then, in the mp3 player era, we're required to rip our own cd, turn it into mp3, then send it to our player
windows media player even have this function to rip a cd with literally a few button clicks
this process create a copy of the said cd content, yet its legal, as long its not redistributed and for personal use only
@Dr_Lugae as somone who actually playing the game, i can tell you that their gacha model is one of the most least predatory, they have clear rules for the spark and provide enough currency for even F2P player to find success and collect decent ammount of characters
idk where you get the funded by governtment bs is because afaik what hey got is subsidies for their achievemt promoting CN game industry, and you know what, government financial boost happens pretty much everywhere in various business sector
sure they have more than enough money with this business model and dont exacly need that much to survive, but you know who else doesn;t need all those extra money to survive?
pretty much every twitch streamer out there who put less work than average people really yet people gave them money to live in luxury
in the end those who spend "endless money" as you call it for a chance to get a certain character is someone who will probably spend those money on other stupid ***** with or without gacha games / lootboxes
those who not as fortunate tho, can still enjoy the game and find joy playing it for free, even better they're the ones who wins them ost as they can keep playing high quality game for no cost
if anyone ever feel "forced" to spend money on the game, all i can say is the said person is probably have issue to begin with and probably lack any ability to make proper judgment from the start
@N8tiveT3ch this is the boomer-take equivalent of current gaming scene lmao
gacha is pretty much the only sustainable way, aside from battle passes for a company to make money from a game while also being free to play.
granted the high quality of genshin, HSR, and other notable gacha games like Blue Archive and FGO, tbh its not so much different as a patreon fee to support those dev to keep developing and expanding the product
average FFXIV players pend at least 10 bucks a month just to play the game, average genshin player spend way less because there's only so much whales out there and they're the one sustaining the game, the rests are F2Ps
accessibility is the key here, in a sense its a win win solution for everyone as the disadvantages of premium games (from the Dev PoV) are they can only charge money as much as the game cost, while with gacha, people with enough money to burn will keep spending it as its their privilege and you cant decide how people spend their own money
BOTW itself is not by any means a bad game, but so does genshin. both can exists at the same time catering to their own audience with their own identity.
and no... wall climbing and gliding is not invented by Zelda.
@SpoonySpoons their recent direction with the game really makes me wish for GF to just do it themself so Monolith can work on their actual passion projects
TPC will just bottleneck MonolithSoft talents in term of freedom, and Takahashi himself said in few occasion he have ideas of game he wanted to make and i think he should pursue that instead of wasting time on IP like pokemon that still sells like crazy despite downgrading quality each year
its too big to fail, so better build on something else (ideally new stuff) that deserve more delicate touch and care as new pillar for Nintendo
they should really consider backward compatibility too especially if it ended up as home console
if they did they pretty much making the 115 million switch owners to feel obligated to buy the new machine as their new overengineered dock
then consider allowing switch to cloud/remote play the new console game. doesn't need to be perfect, just use it as bait to make people buy 2 console instead of only 1
@Octane The Kyoto Studio are populated by mainly artists like 3D and 2D Designer, UI/UX, Editor, etc.
The Tokyo Studio is the main branch with actual programmers and all the technical ***** needed for the "game design and programming" part of the announcement.
@BLD you tell the people, fam! All 3 Were great, Especially 2 and 3 imo!
XC1 is great but its focused way too much on the "story progression" than the characters so it's hard to really remembering the casts and all you remember is generally how the story goes, it's kinda like a fable / heroes tale which is why it feels grand and majestic, but leave no room for the character to shine.
XC2 and 3 in comparison really let's you to bond with the casts, learns about what they like and dislikes, their inner conflict and that's a beautiful sight to see.
The problem being XC2 is kinda have a really slow start but but ended with an impactful climax while XC3 doing the exact opposite of really good opening and goal but the ending feels really rushed and the last boss is lacking a proper motivation, but given the plot demanded him as a personification of certain concept i guess that's just how he is, but the moebiuses legit more interesting as they're formerly humans.
But in the end given how horrible XC1 combat is, its kinda hard for me to really spend my time exploring its big world as enemy encounter is a big pain in the ass while with 2 and 3, combat is fun and it given me chance to 100% the map as i'm actually looking forward for encounters these time around which is wht it will be my least favorite!
