Square, pulled exactly the same kind of thing with Oninaki. Suffice it to say it was later available in retail stores just not for pre-order.

@Yosher I think they probably learnt their lesson with over short generations. I wouldn’t be surprised if the switch lasted as long as the Wii and Wii U combined. To make sure people are actually ready for new hardware and so that hardware has a substantial increase in performance.

@Gamer_Zeus We don’t know how much it cost to make the game. But if your estimate was right they wouldn’t still be in business. Remember they reuse assets between games and if you look across all platforms they are putting out a game a year. I’m sure Soul Hackers 2 will use mostly the same Demons. That’s coming out this summer

I have a feeling they going to stick with the console they can make in high numbers until the silicon shortages are over. The switch might have a surprisingly long life.

I’m going to avoid this as I don’t want Nintendo to establish that a download code in a box is a viable alternative to physical games.

The switch started out as a hybrid console and that’s still how it sells best. But as time goes on it will continue to shrink and grow more and more portable I suspect it has a long life ahead of it as a portable console. Similar to how the original GameBoy started out large and heavy and then moved on to GameBoy pocket and GameBoy colour whilst continuing to play the same games.

Even when they bring out a more powerful switch to to continue in the hybrid space. The will continue to be a demand for shrunken switch to fill the market segment that the Vita and 3DS used to fill.

@LilMuku @Eel 30% is what Apple negotiated with the music industry when they were trying to find a legal way to get music onto their iPods. It’s significantly predates iPhones and downloadable games.

I wonder which is more valuable to Apple the US market on micro transactions. I suspect it’s micro transactions and so if epic wins the result will be Apple and other platform holders affected pulling out of the US. US enthusiasts will probably just import from Canada and Mexico instead if that happens.

@GrailUK I use base. They are cheap but often slow. They don’t take any money until the order is dispatched and if they can’t dispatch within a few days they will cancel the order.

@Crockin You can imagine a situation Where someone buys the switch as their first Nintendo console a year from now. Plays Super Mario Odyssey and wants to download more 3-D Mario games. At that point they will only be available secondhand.

It’s artificially limited because they are delisting it from the store when they would perfectly well be able to leave it up.

I played it on Wii U and as a single player experience it was by far the worst 3-D Mario game I’ve ever played.

Maybe the additions and improvements will allow it to compete with the switch is excellent to third-party platform is because the Wii U version is worse than the likes of New Super Lucky’s Tale and Yooka-Laylee.

@Don What someone is worth: the value of the houses, cars, stocks, shares and tools as well as any intellectual property that may hold. Is different from the amount of cash they have siting in their bank account.

@rjejr We’re not talking about the value of the company. We are talking about the amount of money they have in their current account.

Normal business practice when you have that kind of capital is to either invest it or return it to shareholders.

@FragRed It’s a fairly safe assumption that Nintendo will release another more powerful console after the Switch. We can say that that console will almost certainly be more powerful than the Xbox One S. So given that the Switch is not powerful enough to run this game but the Xbox One S is. It’s fairly safe to assume that it would be able to be run on Nintendo is next console.

The switch does seem to have done its best to incentivise people to buy multiple consoles. My brothers girlfriend recently got a switch and I thought they won’t be borrowing mine anymore. However she is playing animal crossing and my brother wants his own island so they borrowed mine again. Any other console you would just need a second account or a second memory card not a second console.

P.S. I don’t mind my switch being borrowed as it usually comes back with additional games.

That’s fine if all they do is recruit internally. But they never going to poach staff from other organisations with salaries like that.

If they need the next generation to achieve their vision they should go for it. Next gen is only 6 months away at this point.

@redd214 In the UK most shops and websites allow you to order things that are out of stock. They will then either send it to you or contact you to let you know when it is in stock. You usually have a couple of days to go and pick it up in which time they won’t sell it to anyone else. The first person to join the queue gets it first.

Why don’t people place an order when the product is out of stock for it to be delivered when the retailer next has stock. Waiting for retailers to have surplus stock seems like a slow and unreliable way to get anything that has limited quantities available. Obviously paying the scalpers is foolish.

@Moroboshi876 If you’re off work for 12 weeks and the arcade a shut. You want something now rather than a specific console. Of course people have preferences but if they’ve got nothing to do all consoles are likely to have some games that they would want.

@RazumikhinPG Kickstart only collect the money from your pledge at the end of the funding period. If you’re not happy to back the project you can cancel at any time up to that point and you won’t be charged.

@Dwarfette It shouldn’t come as a surprise that you lose access to some games if you choose only to play on handheld. Just as you lose access to some games if you only play on home consoles.

In some ways it’s more out of keeping for persona 5S to release on PS4. Historically the main series has released exclusively on PlayStation and the spin-off have released exclusively on Nintendo handheld.

It’s good to know that I can play persona 5S without having played persona 5R since I’ve already played the original persona five.
I will probably end up getting persona five R anyway and I will definitely get persona 5S.

If I see an interesting looking game that I’m not familiar with I usually use the search function on metacritic to see if anyone has reviewed it.

@AFernandes03 Nier Automata is a demanding game. It wouldn’t be quick or easy to port.

@Heavyarms55 It’s worth remembering that this is a physical chart. Nintendo has rules that mean that when the game has both a physical and digital release the digital is the same price or more expensive.

Sony allows publishers to set whatever physical and digital prices they feel are appropriate and therefore a higher proportion of their sales are digital.

Sensible man. Just develop the best games you can on the platform your most comfortable with. If there is demand on other platforms leave the publisher to do porting.

@Trajan I did but on PS4. It’s an excellent game.

@ARhollow The Switch Lite is smaller and lighter because they remove the heat pipe and the fan the original switch used when it CPU was being overclocked in docked mode. If I allowed it to connect to a TV it wouldn’t be capable of the same resolution bump when docked that the original switch had.

Unfortunately I have a Wii U version of the Breath of the Wild.
