It's truly a shame what the Pokemon Company is able to get away with nowadays and the consumers are at fault for allowing it to happen. I hope Legends Arceus is a high quality game for those who are looking forward to it, but I won't be surprised it if isn't.
@thehappyaerithch Although GameFreak has been on a streak of releasing mediocre games for the last few years now, Legends Arceus is a completely new type of game. The realist in me is telling me to not hold my breath, but I want to at least give them the benefit of the doubt before losing what little faith I have left in GameFreak.
Glad that Sakamoto was able to see Samus' original story arc all the way through to completion and I'm excited for what's to come in the future for the Metroid franchise. Other M was a good game and should have been included in the chronology. Don't @ me.
@Chocobo_Shepherd Who knows? Maybe one day they'll make your dreams come true. Or maybe they'll start releasing games where they let you play the first few hours and each gym is paid DLC. All you have to do is believe.
@Chocobo_Shepherd You're not wrong about that second part, but at least you admit it. Kudos and here's to you enjoying the game if you do decide to buy it.
As I've said about the most recent Pokemon games, give us the option to turn off Exp Share and I'll be willing to buy it (eventually). GameFreak needs to give players an option like they did with the Gen 6 games instead of just catering to new players and children. What about us veterans who started with the very first games? Does our enjoyment of these games not matter anymore?
The identities of the characters in game has no bearing on the quality of a game. The only thing that should matter is the quality of the end product. There's no point to this article.
This is coming from the same company that argued in court that joycon drift is a fabricated issue that doesn't exist. It's also the same company that told several outlets that they didn't have any plans for a Switch revision at E3 and then proceeded to unveil a Switch revision just weeks later. They also did this with the 3DS XL too. I could go on but I think I've made my point. A random black man on YouTube once sang "Why you always lying?" and I think he was asking you, Nintendo.
I can't imagine a scenario where Nintendo wouldn't want to release the Trilogy before Prime 4. It's a great way to not only give newer fans a way to experience the Trilogy if they missed out on it but also a good way to build up more hype leading up to the release of Prime 4. Plus it's also a good way to fill up a slow month with an easy release.
@Tandy255 Looking back on the historical releases of first party Switch titles, I'd have to say you're spot on. The thing that bothers me most about this situation is that it makes me feel like a helpless observer. I can only stand by and watch the masses eagerly consume everything Nintendo releases at the full $60 price without any thought as to what the consequences of their actions will lead to. At least we're getting a new Metroid.
@VanishStampede Nintendo priced their games at $60 before the economic downturn caused by COVID and they're doing it now that the pandemic is receding. This has nothing to do with inflation - I have a minor in economics and I currently work in the financial industry. I have no issue with Nintendo pricing their games at $60 if they choose to do so, plus it's an industry standard. The issue at hand is pricing ALL their games at $60 dollars including the barebones titles that don't deserve it.
For example, Mario Golf Super Rush released at $60 even with all the criticism Nintendo received about the game lacking content. Yes, I'm aware they said they would release free DLC for the game but how many months/years is it going to take for the game to feel like a $60 game? Many major retailers here in the US were even allowing customers to pre-order the game for $49.99 a few weeks prior to its release. Now the game is back to $60 and it's going to remain at $60 for years, just like all of Nintendo's first party releases. That's anti-consumerism at it's worst. It's always been a problem with Nintendo and it's a completely fair criticism to make. Nintendo won't change these poor practices if we stay silent and just let them continue doing this. Silence only opens the door for even worse behavior down the road.
@VanishStampede I make enough money to live comfortably so income isn't an issue to me and it's ignorant to speak as if you understand others' situations, especially that of an entire nation. Sure, you can say it's economics and Nintendo refuses to drop the price of their games and hardware due to the insane demand. But how much of that demand is from Nintendo's core fanbase and how much of it is from casuals who just buy up everything that Nintendo spits out? Furthermore, how long can Nintendo make it last?
It's not only bad business to keep the price of games consistently $60, it also doesn't help when you're trying to build goodwill amongst your audience. Just read pretty much any comments section or go on YouTube and you'll find a litany of complaints regarding Nintendo's pricing habits. You'll find that most of the comments that call Nintendo lazy for releasing half-baked ports and bare bones titles are justified. It isn't the consumer's fault for calling out Nintendo and trying to holding them accountable. It's Nintendo's fault for engaging in these practices and apologists like you only make the problem worse.
@BloodNinja I totally agree that Nintendo is milking the fans for money and I can understand if some people want to wait for a price drop or just skip the game entirely. I think it comes down to a larger problem of Nintendo not being held accountable because fans just buy everything they dish out at full price and everything on Switch sells millions of units. I truly hope they stay grounded and work to ensure quality in their games moving forward, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
@idork99 Samus Returns is good but I will caution you that it's a bit of a departure from the other 2D Metroid games primarily due to the inclusion of the melee counter and greater emphasis on action/combat. The fact that you have to defeat 40 Metroids makes the game feel a bit repetitive but the later boss battles really crank up the difficulty and I'd say the endgame itself is worth it.
It's interesting how many people I've seen complain about Nintendo pricing this at $60 (just like pretty much all of their other first party Switch games). But they have no problem dishing out $60 for completely soulless titles like the recent Pokemon games or pretty much anything with the word Mario in it.
@SolBlazer It's the worst 3D Zelda, in my opinion. I've played it several times and it lacks the polish, challenge and intrigue that you'd expect from a Zelda. I'm not saying it just to say it. Good on you with the personal attacks though, champ. Way to not be an awful person (sarcasm).
Well at least this comments section serves as a good insight into the Zelda fan base and how many of them think. Safe to say they have pretty awful taste all around. Skyward Sword can't be the worst 3D Zelda game when The Windwaker is a thing. You live and you learn, I guess.
I want Metroid to attract a larger fanbase but I want it to happen for the right reasons. It is almost certain that this game is going to be the best selling game in the Metroid franchise. However, Nintendo is going to have to do some soul searching and ask themselves the question: how much of this game's success will be due to genuine demand for the IP and how much of it will be due to casuals who'll buy the game because they've never played a Metroid game and drop it after they lose interest?
The qualify of life changes are nice, but it's still not worth $60 for the minimal improvements. I still own my launch day Wii copy with the gold wiimote so I probably won't be picking this up unless I see a steep discount. I recommend others do the same. It's the only way to holding Nintendo accountable for these lazy practices.
Glad to hear about the improvements, but they're still not enough to warrant a $60 price tag. It's also extremely jarring reading some of these comments saying that Skyward Sword is the worst 3D Zelda. Not sure how that can be the case when The Windwaker exists.
