@benmalsky198 I know that, the problem is that you said that this movie (which we are talking about) is the ONLY Mario movie, but there was already an adaptation before that
@kkslider5552000 but Mario really has a personality. but the problem is not his characterization, but how his tone of voice can match the character, and also why Charles has been his voice actor for 30 years, and being traded for a celebrity is kind of unfair for that
do not take me wrong. I expect a good performance from him[Chris]in Mario, but it is inevitable that Illumination has made this choice for marketing purposes.
@Anti-Matter @Anti-Matter think the same. a dramatic scene between the brothers would be really interesting and very exciting to see. taking into account the different moments between them, Luigi would also have a solid reason to start a drama, because he was mocked and kept silent in the face of it
saying that Mario is a blank slate (or just a pet) is basically the same as saying he ''has no life''(which is clearly a lie).
if it were just one or two games (RPGs in the case) with such a deep story, I would understand. but if that were the case, he wouldn't have allowed 5 Mario and Luigi games(Paper Jam is kind of questionable though), 3 Paper Marios, over the years had so much plot. besides he was the one who wanted the Mario universe to be more expanded in SMRPG, so it's kind of contradictory to say that he really hated that this happened. Mario Odyssey already explains it by itself
@RareFan is not true. Mario's 3D games have been improvising with each release (3D land not so much), both in soundtracks, locations, Level Designs, graphics etc.
It's New Super Mario Bros. that really suffers from an extreme lack of it
@samuelvictor Mario is not blank. and the fact that he has been used in other games is no excuse, because he has basically the same personality in all these games (except Strikers), which means he kept his person. I understand the limitations part, however, acting like it's not possible is kind of wrong. in Sunshine; there was a more in-depth storyline, and Bowser Jr had character development, in addition to Mario Galaxy where there were epic and even slightly dramatic scenes and an even deeper story. and it worked very well in these games
and with the success of Mario Odyssey; Myamoto intends to work with the next game in more new ways, and still says he's a lot less rigid with story. It's believable, because if he really hated it, he wouldn't have allowed it in the RPGs, Sunshine and Galaxy, and even Odyssey yielded some great moments between characters and plot twists.
@ancientlii these arts are really very creative and personalized (although I find your animation style a little weird), but that doesn't mean that Mario's characters didn't have personality before
@Fizza the main series has also tried to do some things in different ways - not as much as RPGs have been able to do, but it's still one thing. but anyway, it would be great if the next 3d Mario came with even more creative ideas(as was the case with Bowser' Fury, with the almost ''open world'')
@AJ1 they could very well be drawing beyond the main series, like the comics, RPGs, and even a little bit of Mario's backstory (which go beyond just ''saving the princess'')
but apparently this movie will have an even bigger focus on the origin of Mario

@Bunkerneath actually Mario has two movies; the 1986 anime film, and the 1993 live action(which we are talking about)

@Rykdrew maybe it's because of her backstory

@samuelvictor of course it's an insult lol

@Anti-Matter you meant ''dubbed dialogues'' or more ''full sentences'', right? if yes, i agree. I would love to see this in the next Mario game

love how he portrayed Peach and Bowser in this art - I just find the art style a little weird, but it's pretty cool to see
Re: Mario Strikers Datamine Shows Off Unused Character Models, Including A Full Team Of "Human Mario Brothers"
I was just a little curious about this human 'character' - it even reminded me of a cartoon where there was a character very similar to this one
