@blindsquarel Nintendo needs to consolidate all of its titles to be available on every system. This is why I only feel safe buying digital games on Steam. There are less hoops to jump through to retain my account on a new “system” (PC) if my other one dies, games no longer being sold can still be downloaded, and no matter what new hardware comes out I always have access to older titles.
Ah yes, more “let’s throw professional voice actors under the bus in favor of actors that have no experience with voice acting so they use their typical voices!”
Keep sullying the art form with your overemphasis on big name marketing.
@AlexanderDaniels Compassion, not vengeance. Otherwise you are no better than them.
There is something called “judgment of charity,” which is good to practice. We do not know their intentions, but we do know that they should be free to form their own opinions and deserve respect because of their inherent human dignity.
Someone having a different opinion than you is no good reason to wish harm upon them. If we look at it from their perspective, they may just enjoy the game. In that case they may wrongly perceive faults with the game as an attack against their joy for it.
Remember, never assume malice as the intent of another. St. Thomas Aquinas would say that no one seeks to achieve an evil end for the sake of it, but rather they wish to attain a perceived good, even if the method to that good is erroneous or the good itself is lesser than a higher good.
@Vil It’s not the developers at fault. GameFreak is held back by The Pokemon Company, which only cares about one thing: yearly designs to use for merchandise sales. GameFreak is already split into two teams because of the demands from the higher ups to constantly be working. They’re probably fatigued. Combine that with the fact that even back in the Gold and Silver days they were about as skilled as an indie developer (Iwata had to help them learn how to compress better so that they could include Kanto) and the transition to 3D AND HD… you have a whole mess of corporate b.s.
The sad part is that everyone ignored who is really responsible and everyone is heaping blame on the very people who are obligated to work under these crappy conditions.
I also think the lackluster reception to Pokemon Black and White demoralized them, as they were the games they went all out on, only for the internet to respond in an overly toxic and irrational way.
@KaiserGX I think what upsets me most is that some people who might’ve actually enjoyed the game for what it was will be deterred by this review and the prior reviews back from its initial release, all because the reviewers had a totally skewed expectation from what it was trying to be. Fan reception is generally really positive, especially on Steam.
This reminds me of how developers got all up-in-arms at Elden Ring, all because they didn’t understand it on its own merits and had some weird predisposition towards particular games and genres.
Niche things are not bad because they are niche, you just need to understand the niche and review it according to that. In many ways it seems like some just don’t understand Digimon World’s gameplay loop well. Don’t get me wrong, Digimon World: Next Order isn’t the best thing ever, but it is about as enjoyable as your average pet-sim game.
Edit: Even the general critical consensus on the game from aggregate sites has it at “average.”
This is a terrible review. It doesn’t even try to review it based on its own merits and genre.
It is a V-Pet simulator with RPG mechanics. Of course it’s grindy. I could understand a 6/10 or perhaps a 7/10.
For anyone on the fence, I say give it a try (even if after a sale.) It’s a fun little game with enjoyable monster raising mechanics that you can hop into after a hard day of work. It’s no masterpiece like BotW or Elden Ring, but it is a wonderful pet simulator with JRPG focused content.
@Mando44646 Nintendo cares about the negative PR. Game Freak is not a Nintendo Developer though, and as such Nintendo does not have much control over game quality in the franchise.

The new doors are far better.

Ganondorf sounds wonderfully menacing.
Re: Monster Hunter Rise Sales Surpass 12 Million Units Worldwide
As it should. It’s a great game, though a bit fast for the heavier weapons. Evade extender is a must.
