Now this is excellent news, I've been aching to play this since release but my laptop sucks and I hardly take the time to fiddle with my PS4 these days. Looking forward to playing this on the go. -i.e. the bog, bed and office...
A significant power boost would be a tantilizing feature, but only if it benefits already released games without patching by the developers.
I remember when the New 3DS came and I was a bit excited for the possibility that we might see improved performance in games like Metal Gear Solid 3. Alas, the game still runs equally awful on both the standard 3DS and N3DS; the developers have to tweak the games for the revised hardware.
So if the power boost doesn't result in noticeable improvements in games like Wolfenstein 2 and Doom out of the box, I'm not sure I'll pull the trigger. -but Panic Button has so far been quite good at tweaking the games post launch, so I imagine they will be on it quite quickly by providing resolution bumps and performance tweaks, other devs might not be so... accomodating.
But it would be a golden opportunity to pass on my Switch to the wife. -especially after Animal Crossing arrives, she'll be aching for a Switch of her own.
So there is no option to declutter the interface? Remove health bars/damage counters? Why didn't they move that disgusting Arts-bar down to the bottom screen?
Don't worry. Been using a 64GB Samsung card in my imported Aus N3DS since Iaunch. Works like a charm. Remember to format it to FAT32 and you're good to go.

I did not pick up on that, I apologize.
The pursuit of personal material gain is the most powerful source of inequality between individuals.
Capitalism is the pursuit of personal material gain.
I see you can't help take a stab at a public education system.
Unlike the unfortunate citizens in your suffering nation we do not believe that a person is only worth as much as their wallet holds.
As a result we have proper public education free of religious or political dogma and a public health service that would make your insurance moguls poopitypoop their bowels out in fear.
Do you honestly mean, with twice our unemployment rate and an income gap the size the Milky Way, to proclaim capitalistic rule superior to socialism?
@19Robb92 Why do anything? I say that they should not have done it.
Why did they? Maybe because they feared that the demand for their product would decrease if it seemed to expensive to consumers. Maybe they hoped that the PS3 would sell enough to dominate the console market, thereby providing them with a profit through game sales.
However the PS3 was, according to Hirai, was not profitable until 4 years after it's launch.
And yes, @MasterBlaster, I am a socialist and, by Jove, capitalists are the scurge of civil rights and liberties. Corporations are, most decidedly, not people. I see you like using the word "loser" and implying that smart businesspeople are somehow "winners". I weep for the misery such ideals might sow.
@Jaz007 One will always be first. If you must construct an academic exercise wherein all buyers offer to purchase an item at the exact same time, the seller may sell to whoever they choose. Though preferably decided by a raffle of sorts. The price, however, remains untouched.
@19Robb92 Oh boy. "That's not how things work" is the refuge of those who would only seek to uphold the status quo as long as it is in their gain. If your deciding motivation for creating is profit, society would greatly benefit from your abstinence. Someone else will create it, if it is needed. The PS3 should have been sold more expensive at launch. "Then it would not have sold enough". Yes, and? You tried, you failed, there is no shame in this. Parts on Sony might need to be closed, workers laid off. As long as you have a government with a proper wellfare system this is not a problem that will not be corrected.
@KeeperBvK Let's just say that I do not believe that supply and demand dictates the price of a product or a service. This is the ideal of unscrupulous pustules. The price must be dictated by the cost of manufacturing plus the needed funds for further research and development, nothing else. If you should choose to sell a product after owning it for some time, the price should only cover your expenses.
Though the regular size New 3DS is oh so much prettier with it's fully coloured buttons (to my eyes) I'm going XL. Need that bigger screen for Smash Bros.
Shame the first batch of XLs only come in blue and black; all my DS systems have so far been white. Won't stop me importing one from Australia come 21. of November though.
And just like that you've made my decision THAT much harder. I was adamant that I'd get a New XL to replace my normal old 3DS. I find the screen a little to small for Smash Bros, so I figured that XL was the way to go. But now...HNNNNNG...too hard!
No reports of the New XL screen being sharper and more vivid than the old? Of course you can't do anything about the resolution but there are other factors one could theoretically improve.
@Damo At about 1:37 into the video you show the old 3DS screen size displayed on the screen of the New 3DS. Is the screen really that much bigger?
I didn't think the difference would be so dramatic, impressive. Also, I applaud your effort to present the difference in size. Very, very good work. -Nintendo should have done it like that themselves.
@Fafnirchaos07 Well in that case I fail to see why a game would need a patch; if you upgrade the components in your computer you don't have to patch your games for them to benefit from the increase in horsepower.
@Fafnirchaos07 Thank you! Really. I'd love to read more, do you have a link? I've been wondering about this for some time and no review or preview I've seen has mentioned any gameplay related effects of the new cpu.
There is one thing I've been wondering about with regards to the NEW SPEED(!).
Will games that struggle with maintaining a stable framerate on the old speed 3DS fare better on the New 3DS?
I'm thinking specifically of Metal Gear Solid 3.
It runs okay but the framerate often takes heavy dips into slow-mo territory.
This is particulary noticable since the game is already locked to 20 frames per second.
Also!
Will the new "C-stick" work as a second analog stick with older games that supported the Circle Pad Pro?
EDIT:
Nevermind the C-stick question, already answered in other posts.

Image & Form are way up there as one of my very favourite devs.

Brilliant people, can't wait to see what they do next.

Everyone should watch the trailer for Behind Enemy Lines.
I would have gone crazy for that back in oooh about 1999-2000.

Goody gumpdrops! I've been wanting to get my hands on Hellblade for ages now, must have.

It's such an outrageous idea; Halo on a non-Microsoft platform.
But my god do I want it, oh so badly. My body is truly ready.

The interface is a cluttered, smothering mess.

@Fafnirchaos07
Thank you for taking the time to answer so thoroughly.
-I was afraid you might think I was challenging your statement.
Okay, so given that the 3DS is a "locked" system, an improved cpu would actually not benefit the software without a patch.
Well. Let's hope Konami want to patch it.
-off topic: and give us MGS1 and 2 as well!
