@kingbk Hardware is irrelevant to the quality of ports. It's only ever down to optimization... the companies that can't be bothered to optimize Switch ports are unlikely to put any more effort into Switch Pro or Switch 2 ports.
Anyway, this really isn't surprising. HBS is terrible at optimization and even worse at support. The mobile port of the Shadowrun games mentioned in the review? Yeah: it doesn't exist any more. A minor iOS update broke the game and HBS just abandoned it.
Yeah, a Switch 2 would definitely be ideal. But inertia can be a helluva thing and Nintendo has a very long history of failed consoles following up successful ones.
The only real exception is the 3DS, but even then that's only because Nintendo made a huge effort to turn things around after an enormously disappointing first year or two. (Something they pointedly did not do for the WiiU.)
I guess this explains why they had so many isolated announcements in May and June--they must have a lot of confidence in XC3 for it to warrant an entire Direct all to itself.
I actually liked Cat Quest more than Cat Quest 2. Objectively the second game may be better, but it's also bigger and grinder. Takes a lot longer to finish and you have to spend a lot more time fiddling with the inventory. First game was a lot more straightforward and enjoyable IME.
@Giancarlothomaz I really don't think being developed for the WiiU had much of an impact on BotW's visuals. It's still one of the best looking and best performing games on the Switch.
I on,y feel obligated to get this because I also have the CE Steelbook for XC2 (which was so easy to just order off Amazon). I've had the Nintendo Astor's page open in my browser for weeks, checking every day. And now... yeah, I kinda doubt they'll have any stock left by the time the web store is functional again. What a mess.
Rather than just looking at total sales, it might be more interesting to examine the attachment rates (IE game sales divided by console sales) to see what the most and least popular games were among the people who could potentially buy them.
Sometime I feel like I'm the only one who wants space combat out of a Star Wars games. It's like no one, anywhere, at any level has had any idea what to do with this IP since TPM.
@Giancarlothomaz Trailers show significantly more 3D assets being rendered in BotW2 than BotW1... and the first game is plagued by slowdown.
Which could be explained by difficulties porting to the NS from WiiU, but Nintendo has consistently demonstrated an incapacity to hit even the lowest performance standards with the NS. We all know an upgraded Switch is inevitable... like the N3DS or DSi or N64 Expansion Pak.
And just like how Majora's Mask could only be played on upgraded N64s, I expect BotW2 will only be playable on whatever that upgraded Swotch winds up being. It's possible BotW2 will be compatible with OG Switches, but I wouldn't count on it--and I'd expect even worse performance than BotW1.
Would be lovely to be able to play Starfox Zero without those asinine gamepad controls... but I can't help but resent all these WiiU ports of mediocre games instead of XCX or the Zelda remasters.
NV still has crippling issues w/ the PC version... a Switch port would be nice in theory, but if we ever actually got one it'd inevitably be a bit of a nightmare.
Fire Emblem is the game that really sticks out to me. I have a Conquest cart, which is "valuable" and will likely only ever become more valuable (still kicking myself for giving away, not even selling my copy of Fire Emblem Wii) — but only for collectors.
It's essentially worthless for anyone actually interested in playing the game, right? As it's only 1/3rd.
I'd been hoping for DLC for a long time, but... I'm pretty skeptical about this. If they're not adding anti-grav and glider segments to these tracks, they're gonna be real boring to play... and the sheer quantity of tracks will ensure they dominate online play.
If I were to list out all of the games I traded in as a kid desperate for just a bit more money to spend on games, I bet I could make half of y'all weep. At least.
The rarer ones I can't even afford to re-purchase now, as a "proper adult."
Oh, neat. I had no idea this was getting localized... I've been bummed about the lack of PSN copies of those two PSP remakes for years. Can you imagine? There are gamers today who have only ever seen the Star Ocean games after SO3, who have no idea the series used to be fantastic.
Version 10? Shouldn't we instead be criticizing Nintendo for still not having basic features like folders and the activity log included with version 1?

Oh, okay. Now it makes more sense. It's not Nintendo being awful, it's Nintendo of America being awful. That tracks.

I just want a port of Wildermyth.

Website is working again, but release date is back to TBD. What a ***** show.
Re: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Demo Drops Today
@Arawn93 framerate's noticeably worse than Age of Calamity (played 'em back to back) and enemy pop-in is really bad.
But possibly the actual game with have better performance than the demo? Here's hoping.

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Demo Drops Today
Demo is fun, but performance is... pretty bad.
Really like that we can select genders/names for both Byleth and Shex. Would be nice if we could play as all four variants with the same save.
Re: Review: STAR WARS: Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords - Always Two, There Are
The "expected thematic beats?" KOTOR2? The whole point of KOTOR2 is that it doesn't do that.

#1 remaster is definitely the Switch port of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Don't mind it's hypothetical nature.
Seriously, though, this list needs Okami HD, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered and Tales of Vesperia.

@Gridatttack Yup. I was a le to find Ever Oasis, new & sealed, on eBay for $55, just $15 over the eShop sale price, so that was a no-brainer.

Just completely wild.

The way I see it, this is Nintendo's way of telling us that they'd very much like it if we pirates all of their old games.

Wow, Teksetter. That's... some deep-seated insecurity on display there.

I'll give the demo a try, but am not expecting much given how bland Octopath's writing was and and tedious it's gameplay was.
Re: It's Official, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Is Launching On Nintendo Switch This September
Story sounds a lot like XC1 (lol @ "Bionius") which almost made me think it was goin to be a "reimagining" of the first game.
Anyway, cool trailer. Love the more restrained character designs. Is it still too mich to hope for the return of playable mechs?

TWO NEW FRONT MISSION GAMES!
Re: SD Gundam Battle Alliance Blasts Onto Switch This Year
All I ask is for playable Wing grunts. I'd love a Virgo II, Taurus or Aries... but at least just a Leo.
