Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Persona 5 Royal On Switch

Jayesbe

@Vyacheslav333 I mean, it's not really "impossible" on a non-hacked Nintendo Switch since the system can be set to 1080p resolution in the system settings, and yeah that's for docked mode but still there's 1080p. the screenshots I linked in my original reply to you are from my own playthroughs on both the Playstation 4 and the Nintendo Switch and the Switch version really does have the actual 2D stuff in 1080p with docked mode.

And with handheld mode, while I dunno 100% if the 2d elements really are in 1080p resolution, they visibly look much higher resolution than 720p. I'm pretty certain they look the exact same as on other platforms like the Playstation 4 Version (it's the only way I have to compare versions). Right now I'm looking at the pause menu of the Switch version and the Playstation 4 side-by-side and they both pretty much look the exact same at least when viewing both on the actual systems. Thankfully the pause menu and pretty much anything 2D didn't suffer a downgrade in terms of graphics and visual quality with the Nintendo Switch version (also nothing 2D in this switch port is blurry or lower quality, unlike the 3D stuff in this game), in both handheld and docked modes.

@Slowdive @Vyacheslav333 I still need to watch the actual DF Video on this game but something I noticed with the Switch Version which I do own on my system is that while all the 3d stuff looks lower quality for whatever reason (I don't know what exactly is happening with the quality but some people are saying it's blur but idk) and it's very noticeable when comparing it to other versions of the game, the actual 2d stuff and 2d elements are all in 1080p even in handheld mode. So basically the pause menu, character portraits, the ux, the user interface, the all-out attacks, the battle ui, the many in-game menus and overall lots of other 2d things in the switch version of Persona 5 Royal are still super high resolution.

Also, I made a comparison between the Switch version vs Playstation 4 version which can be found here: https://imgur.com/a/kiiuIZD

I apologize for typing so much text and this is a habit of mine. I personally think the Switch version doesn't look too bad and I really am just playing the Switch version because of the portability but if I wanna play on a big screen I'll just play one of the other releases like on the Playstation or my computer.

@JustMonika I remember during my playthrough I visited them as much as I could but there was a time where I thought I was going to miss some hangouts with them because I was already into December in-game and anyone who finished this game knows what happens late into December with confidants and hangouts, though I won't explain that last thing because of spoilers but if you know you know. But anyways in December in-game I tried hanging out with the twin wardens as much as I could because while I had already hungout with them lots I eventually hadn't hungout with that for a long time until December in fear of missing hangout events. I thankfully was able to do all the hangout events by that specific day in late December.

I'm looking forward to replaying this game but on the Nintendo Switch, and also I apologize for writing so much to you.

@The_Pixel_King You're super welcome, and now I'm happy I showed it to you even though I didn't notice somebody else tell you about the video. I too will definitely be picking up the game and I've actually already pre-ordered it from the Nintendo eShop. Also if you plan on purchasing the game physically instead of digitally, Amazon has a Steelbook "Launch Edition" of Persona 5 Royal on the Nintendo Switch which costs the same amount of money as the normal non-steelbook edition of the game. I'm really looking forward to playing this game once it becomes available to play and I'm happy you are too!^^

@The_Pixel_King There's already a video on YouTube from somebody who got the game early from Amazon and it's gameplay of Persona 5 Royal in Undocked Mode on the Nintendo Switch OLED System and, if you'd like to see it for yourself it's from a YouTube Channel called BoTalksMedia. The game actually runs super well and the game looks great, but you can be the judge of that when and if you do watch their video. It's about around 27 Minutes long and it's gameplay from early into the game where it starts just after meeting Ryuji in the game.

Just a warning for people who are playing the game for the first time, please don't watch this video. Even though it's early footage there's still some story spoilers.

Re: Video Game YouTuber Dunkey Launches His Own Indie Publishing Company

Jayesbe

@StarPoint Dunkey posted one spoiler on Twitter for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and that started the drama but he deleted the screenshot not too long afterwards. His tweet was enough to enrage Twitter but just know his actual video itself on Xenoblade Chronicles 3 wasn't even hateful in the slightest and yeah there were spoilers but they were pretty much all out of context moments, harmless, and most of the clips in his XC3 video just felt like funny moments. He also poked fun at some things in the game like for example, during the first fourty seconds of his video you hear Noah say a long voiceline after picking up items (I think it's "I got a rare one right here" or something along these lines) and Dunkey edited the clips together in a way that you hear those lines over and over again, probably because people who played the game may have gotten annoyed by it being said so much I'm guessing, but it's clearly edited a lot, and not with bad intentions. As I mentioned earlier it's not a negative video and it's definitely not a hateful one, but I feel a lot of people just don't understand videogamedunkey. Yeah he can be serious sometimes but he's mostly always been more sarcastic and he exaggerates details in a lot of his videos (for example his Metroid Dread video has him exaggerating a lot of details and overall being non-serious throughout the majority of the video, plus in one of his much later videos he says he likes the game) but overall with Dunkey's video, just know his videos aren't always serious ones, they're more for entertainment above all else.

EDIT: I am so so sorry, I didn't see how much I had written as a reply to you until I actually sent my reply and because of this I am super sorry.

Re: Digimon Survive Is Getting Review Bombed On Metacritic

Jayesbe

@RubyCarbuncle I agree! There certainly is a difference between actual criticism and straight out review bombing! I personally feel as if the people who ran to Metacritic to review bomb the game have not actually played the game, at least not the majority of the people. I know with Steam in order for someone to actually review any game they'd need to have actually bought the game or the game needs to have been gifted to them. Basically they need to have actually played the game and them owning it on Steam is the proof, meanwhile I doubt Metacritic actually requires the person reviewing to the game or in this case I doubt the pool review bombing this game actually need validation or proof that they've really bought the game.

EDIT: Something I've noticed on Steam is this game has the "Very Positive" Review status.

Re: Digimon Survive Is Getting Review Bombed On Metacritic

@RubyCarbuncle the Persona Series isn't a visual novel. At least not the mainline games in the series. Mainline Persona games are all a mix of Social Sim & JRPG.

However I'd say for certain Persona 3 Portable, Arena/Arena Ultimax, the Dancing games, and Persona Q/Q2 are all a mix of Visual Novel & JRPG.

Re: Feature: 30 Years Of Sonic The Hedgehog - The Many Faces Of Mario's Biggest Rival

Jayesbe

@crocwithadock yeahh it is weird.

Honestly my favorite "Sonic" game is a controversial one, which is: Shadow the Hedgehog. I usually pretend like it isn't my favorite when talking with others online because there's always "those people" who'll start talking about just how awful the game is and sure it may be a bad game in their opinions and I know it's not a great game but what's most important is that I am having fun playing the game.

Re: Video: Nintendo Fixed* The Water Emulation In Ocarina Of Time On Switch

Jayesbe

@Funneefox I agree with you there. I have no issue with people enjoying the service but I really dislike how there were a lot of people (especially on Twitter) who lash out on other people who've expressed their disappointed of the service, and that those people should just "be happy with what Nintendo have given them" but I disagree and I too feel the expansion service is a big letdown and a disappointment. Ocarina of Time has been hit the hardest, most definitely. I know the original look and feeling of the Dark Link room was pretty much gone until today (well according to this page) but there's a lot of things still needing to be fixed with the nso emulation for this game (like for example the very noticeable lag and the input lag too. I know unofficial n64 emulation like with Project64 and Mupen64plus is not perfect and is definitely complicated, but official n64 emulation from Nintendo has always felt years behind those unofficial emulators and for a company like Nintendo, this is unacceptable. While still not perfect and still had it's issues, the Wii had the best n64 emulator Nintendo has ever made from what I can remember (and I've used n64 emulation for both the Nintendo Wii and the Wii U) at least when we're talking Official N64 Emulation for Ocarina of Time and I think Majora Mask, the emulation was best on the Wii compared to the Wii U and NSO. I can't comment on other games since I don't remember a whole lot of n64 emulated games I had on the Nintendo Wii.

I feel if Nintendo truly cared about the official emulation, they could do better than they have, however I feel they mostly care about actually putting the games onto the service and making a profit rather than the actual quality and stability of the games Nintendo have added to their service.

These are really just my thoughts, but I feel people are going to disagree with me.
