Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 14th)

Wow, Nintendo Life. You removed The Sinking City review from the top page feature so it would be further down the articles so people would be less likely to go to it and see the comments? You think I wouldn't notice while you also don't address me on Twitter? How dumb do you think I am?

I've been playing Ni no Kuni on Switch because that's how it works.

@MsJubilee That's why I was vocal on PJ O'Reilly's review of Vambrace: Cold Soul. Anyone would know you could walk 3 feet in that game with the right recruitable member and not trigger traps. I'd bet anything that the game was too hard for him and he gave up. His complaints on the map alone told me enough that he wasn't capable. Thus the game got a 4. Of course, anyone can score how they wish, but to do so would mean you should have enough knowledge of the game. NL will try to convince me otherwise, but I'm not buying it.

Now, I'm not saying the lot of them don't play some games enough or to completion, but what I'm finding out about this industry is that you don't have to do squat. You just fill a quota and move on.

@Barbara001 I've been playing it even before Dom, the sanity effects are nothing like Eternal Darkness. They're just visually distorting with ghostly imagery, nothing too crazy. Controls are average. It's more about detective work and piecing clues together enjoying it for the narrative aspects of it. While you can shoot, it's often best to avoid encounters. You can scavenge for materials, ammo, first aid, craft traps and throwable objects. Story will play out differently depending on the choices you make even in dialogue as well, but how would you know that?

@Coach_A I don't fault you for feeling that way. Not saying I work harder than, just that I put time into mine. Big outlets shouldn't get a pass because they think they can get away with it having a large userbase. As one who's on my 3rd year now, it just hurts, personally. If you're a reputable site, act like it. You're informing a vast amount of people so that's even more important.

@Lucarianzx I won't answer for them, but what if I told you there are reviews by one person on Nintendo Life who seem questionable, whose comments are full of dogging on said reviews, and there was evidence to back up that they don't play the games for barely even a short amount of time? To what standards would you hold the highly esteemed NL? Asking for a friend.

Re: Review: Vambrace: Cold Soul - A Gorgeous RPG That's Tragically Undone By Dull And Difficult Gameplay

Hylian_Ticipated

Not in my playthrough. The devs added the quality of life improvements and balanced the difficulty. It was challenging, but still fair. Maps fairly easy to comprehend if you know your directions because the map shows you where you've been and where you are. Did you bother? You assemble the right team for unlocking chests and avoiding traps, you won't have a problem. The combat is basic, I'll give you that. The world and its lore is great, though. If you're not in it for the story, why hate on the story? Every character has something to different to say in every chapter. There's a lot of stuff you didn't touch on. The game even has touchscreen support. And hating on tutorials you only get in the beginning for the first time? All you need to do is press B to back out of reading important stuff. Did you beat it? Explains the press kit photos. NL is getting funny.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Fix Joy-Con Drift For Free And Refund Customers Who Paid

Hylian_Ticipated

I'll be sending my left Yellow in. My launch left Grey drifted in the summer of 2017. Sold it to GameStop (haha) and bought the Yellows, which the left started drifting barely 2 months in. I'm careful and take care of my stuff. Until the entire hardware (analog stick) is re-worked, it's not solved and I'm not happy.

I'll get my repaired Joy-Con back and it'll happen again. If Nintendo wants a process of repeated repairs, then that's on them. Not buying another Joy-Con.

Re: Review: Senran Kagura: Peach Ball - A Shiny Casing Full Of Used Pinball Machine Parts

Hylian_Ticipated

After doing my tallying, I gave the score an 8.3 and I explain why in the review. I've completed the story and its specific challenges, cleared out the store, got over 16 billion points. The HD rumble is fantastic, I don't know how anyone could say it's not doing its job. Whether the game's theming is for you or not, the pinball gameplay is great. If you want to see my detailed review, you know where to find me.

@HobbitGamer Totally good point. And...

@ThanosReXXX You're correct and that's precisely where my judgement comes from. You're either a genuine fan of his or you're not. It seems like people who aren't a fan of his want it to be known that they aren't almost out of being ashamed if they were. That's what gets me. I don't want to apply that to everyone. So my apologies. It's one of those days.

Hylian_Ticipated

@MonkeyKing Nothing wrong with that. I just see a lot of recent comments about the game only being fan-service just because it's accessible. It caters to both casual and players who can learn the tech. But yeah, it's not supposed to be the next big fighter. I understand. Just makes me wish for a demo so people can see for themselves. And DOM, check your Twitter sometimes, lol.

Re: Review: Pode (Switch eShop)

Hylian_Ticipated

I've been playin' this for about a week now and I can tell you while co-op is great, it's just as good solo. The art direction, puzzles and music are great. Don't overlook this Nindie!

Re: Review: Bombslinger (Switch eShop)

Hylian_Ticipated

@Ralek85 I fall between the middle of the two sites, giving it an 8.3 if that adds to your collective judgement, not that you asked or possibly care.

It's very fun.

{edit} Also, the movement is 4 directional. If you've played the original The Legend of Zelda on NES you can basically know how precise it is. It also behaves on like an imaginary grid. The animation of your character actually turns to your next direction as opposed to just automatically facing in that direction if that makes any sense. So when that happens he's actually snapping into that row/column as you move directions. It might take a bit to understand what's going on.
