Re: Swords & Soldiers

Homer_Simpson

Cheers, a Frosthammer/ Catapult/ Axethrower spam worked quite nicely...I'm now up to the final campaign, I think I'm starting to understand this game better now...it's pretty much the first RTS game I've ever played.
Also, I believe on Campaign 2 level 9 if you let the Vikings get very close to your base, frosthamr (I think that's his name...) brings a ton of Viking units to help you out, which makes the battle a lot easier...

Re: Bit.Trip: Beat

Hey, did you guys fix the fact that you need a highscore to save for the EU release? Cause I just passed the first level without a highscore, and it saved.
Anyway, this game is awesome. My one complaint is that the levels are too long which can really mess with your eyesight after a while. I would have preferred 6 levels of half the size...

Re: Review: Adventure Island: The Beginning (WiiWare)

Homer_Simpson

I had a feeling you'd be reviewing this Marcel, after I saw 'Drake at the top of the main game highscore list .

Anyway, if you have a problem with the upgrades making the game too easy, just don't buy them until you have completed the game. They are there so if someone is having trouble with a level, they can replay easier levels and collect melons, then buy upgrades to help them to advance more easily. Really, there is no point in complaining about an entirely optional system.

Re: Real Football 2009

Homer_Simpson

Downloaded this, and I must say I'm really impressed by the amount of content it has for an 800 point game. I haven't played the retail version of the game, but I doubt that they have taken much out because this seems to have as much content as a full retail football game should have.

Re: Nintendo Download: Adventure Island, Crystal Defenders R1 & Real Football 2009 (EU)

Homer_Simpson

Initial thoughts on Adventure Island; Seems pretty solid at the moment, although the controls are a little unresponsive at times. The graphics are also a little blurry- Hudson obviously had to do a lot of compression on this to fit it within the size limit (which is ridiculous now that we can launch games from the SD card). But anyway, it's pretty much what I expected it to be, with solid but not outstanding level design, and some decent minigames. Worth the download, but definitely could have been better.

2) Super Mario World
1) Super Mario Bros. 3

Re: Helix Coming To Europe This Friday

Homer_Simpson

This is actually one of the games I've really been waiting for. I only have 1000 points though, and it looks like we are having a massive week this Friday with Strongbad, Mega Man 9 and Helix. Hmmm....believe it or not, I think I'll go for Helix.

Re: EU WiiWare Update: Plättchen, Bomberman Blast, and Midnight Pool!

Homer_Simpson

Hmmm....I just got Bomberman Blast and I am having a few problems connecting to people on wifi. I can connect to wifi, and then I can briefly find people but they always almost immediately dissapear. Is anyone else having this problem? I have no problem playing online on any other game, and I''m pretty dissapointed because the online was the main reason I downloaded BB.

Re: MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade

Homer_Simpson

I'm enjoying this alot more now...it's definitely one of those 'just one more go' games, and the fact that it's a high score game with a genuine goal means it won't just appeal to high score fanatics. And if you get other people involved in the race to one million, it also becomes a lot more fun. Definitely worth the download.

Re: MaBoShi: The Three Shape Arcade

Homer_Simpson

Hmm...I gave in and decided to download it before the review, and I'm a little dissapointed. It's very simlplistic and mostly shallow, but I guess you do get what you pay for at only 800 wii points

Circle is very basic but quite fun once you get used to it. Basically you control the direction of rotation of a ball inside a big circle, and you have to manipulate this rotation to make this ball make contact with the enemies in the circle, before they can exit it. For me it was actually surprisingly intuitive, but its shallowness and the fact that it is quite unforgiving (some enemies really make a dash for freedom, give you very little time to kill them) let it down.
Bar takes a while to get used to, and once you do get used to it you realise how shallow it is. Basically, all you do is press the A button at the right time to make your stick move forward. Once you get this timing down the game just becomes a repetive tap of the A button every couple of seconds.
Square is the deepest game in the package, and a pretty decent snake clone . Although slower paced then snake, it makes you think alot more, and can actually get fairly tactically deep in the later stages.

I would give it a (tentantive) 6 out of 10.

Re: JV Games Interview - Pong Toss

Homer_Simpson

I won't be downloading this, but great interview. It's really refreshing to hear an interview with all questions being answered completely and honestly without any PR crap we get from the major companies.

Re: Review: Dr. Mario Online RX

Homer_Simpson

I just dowloaded this today and I am incredibly dissapointed. As mentioned in the review, there is very little content besides a (slightly) revamped version of the original. Also, in terms of design, I'd take Tetris over Dr. Mario any day. Tetris has more depth to it's play, in my opinon.

Good review.

Re: Axelay

Homer_Simpson

So....Australia already has this game, while it hasn't had a release in the rest of the 'EU' region. Are we in Australia missing out on another game that has been released to the rest of the 'EU' region?
