@Savino It was horrible. Since I have bought it, I was playing i wishing it to end. Only players with little experience in video games liked it I think. It was a mash up of other games (tomb raider, Zelda, monster hunter, so, whoever has played these games was getting nothing new from the game) and its story was at most childish and boring to the death. So... I do get why you didn't like it.
Zelda fanboi here. Well... They totally copied everything. I guess that's why some of you are "hyped" for this game. In my opinion that is a huge bad move from nintendo, i.e., allowing clones of their very best game ever to exist. I was reading just yesterday in the 'Creating a Champion' book how much time they spend to find the nice visuals of BotW and it is a shame that someone comes into the picture and literally steals the idea and effort... BUT, since nintendo is not only fine with that and they also release it on their console... well... I have nothing to b*tch about myself; let them do what they do. Anyways everything is about money nowadays... Unfortunately...
2021 at least for me too... 2020 is extremely early to advertise. Hopefully (following all the rumors around new consoles) with a new switch 4K... Even 03.2022 could work...
@dugan It is way different if you plate for example the Master Mode. You have to approach the battles differently and the game has more to give when you already know well its mechanics. That was the case for me at least... As a third play-through, I played it on Master Mode and I beat it with no stamina upgrade and only 3 hearts with no durian fruits meals; when I say 3 hearts, I mean it, 3 hearts only. The bad thing with that is that you cannot take the Master Sword (you can if you swap stamina vessels at the statue in Hateno Village and then swap again to have 3 hearts, but as I already said, no stamina upgrade is included either).
@Gerbwmu What do you mean you wouldn't mind a sequel? We know already that the next one will be a sequel. Or at least, reason says so. In the end of BOTW it is 100% clear that BOTW will have a continuation (in contrast to any other Zelda game to date).
Can I state a conjecture?
We know by previous general statements from Nintendo that after each Zelda game the next one starts developing immediately.
Also, we have specific statements from Aonuma that they have started working on the next Zelda. From BOTW we do know already that it is going to be a sequel.
My full conjecture: They want more people because they want to work both on the new sequel of BOTW and on a third (at least) DLC of BOTW.
They still owe us 8 shrines for full stamina and health. After the president's comments on DLC in existing big games I think that a 3rd DLC in E3 2019 will fall like a nuclear bomb! I cross my fingers. For the ones who talk about milking BOTW: PLEASE Nintendo! MILK IT!
Hi from me as well. So many things to comment on... If you don't know it yet, when you type "how long is to beat xxxxx", where xxxxx is the game that you are interested in, you will be transferred to a reliable site that has the average time that you need to beat the xxxxx game (the numbers come from players who played the game). I am saying all these because a 2-2.5 hours game (wroEF)--3h if you want to get everything-- which very few gamers played, beat the masterpiece Zelda, the excellent Mario and the very very good games (and way longer) Hellblade, AC and HZD. I find it crazy that we feel "good" for Nintendo taking 3 awards. The whole ceremony was a joke. My points: -Best game: see above. ALL the other games were way better than wroEF, -Multiplayer: Divinity (!). Just compare it with Fortnite and PUBG. -Hellblade: 5 awards. Of course it would take many many awards because it is a British game. They invented the "game beyond entertainment" to give it more awards. Don't get me wrong. I love the game. But it is a very good 8h game and nothing more than this. The "artistic achievement" should have been Zelda. -Ridiculous host. Well flower-boy, Link IS a guy!
Since I am flying for short vacations I will be able to tell (or not, you mainly can't notice any difference--except 1.3.0! It made the game slow at some points in towns) in 5 days. It would be good to fix some of the frame drops and also to add another page of armor items since we 7 items short after the Champions Ballad. Some of you are mentioning differences between the switch and Wii U versions. Only when the switch is docked has a better (900p) resolution while both games have different programming and even though on average switch has a better frame rate, there are cases where the Wii U version has more (check a comparisson video on youtube for this). As for the sound, the sound on Wii U is awesome already and despite the fact that Nintendo says that the switch version is superior than the Wii U one, all the reviews state that you have to have a super sound system to notice any difference.
@OorWullie Maybe you misunderstood me my friend. I didn't say that whoever has a switch is not a dedicated player. Come on! I will buy a switch myself after the holidays (I am waiting for a good bundle and to finish first some games in my other consoles--I also wait for the Zelda DLC 2 ). I am happy that you have both consoles, good for you! As for the controllers, I shared my opinion that I didn't find the switch controls good, BUT without trying out the switch pro controller (you can actually use with a 20$ USB to play with your Wii U pro controller on switch which is sweet). I wish we had the full functionality on the gamepad for Zelda, but Nintendo wanted all the players to have the same experience and removed it. Of course "same experience" is a false statement by default since: 1) Switch has better graphics, 2) Wii U players have no portability after 10 feet (lol), 3) Tips of the wild channel (I really don't understand why they didn't put on the Wii U as a channel...). Long story short, they should have kept the unique functionalities of the gamepad on the Wii U version. Last but not least, OF COURSE Nintendo did well and moved on! Do you expect from me, a gamer since NES 1989 (Mario Bros, Zelda my first 2 games), to not want to see Nintendo thriving with a new console since Wii U did very bad? I just commented on the fact I didn't want Nintendo to kill Wii U. We could have more games parallel to the switch' ones...
@ShadJV Oh, definitely. I couldn't agree more with you. Nintendo did the right move with switch as it seams. And I am happy about it. I love Nintendo products more than the rest (I have the other 2 big consoles). The reason why I don't have a switch yet it is not the money. I have plenty of games which I haven't touched yet because of Botw, so it will take a while for me to buy one
@gortsi Thank you for the link! I will let my friends know about it. Yeah, the refurbished products from Nintendo are like-new I bought once a controller and you couldn't tell if it was new or not.
@gortsi Please excuse my previous email. I didn't get the sarcasm in it. My bad. Please check my answer to Bimmy-Lee above about the Wii U. The system to me (and you after having all these games) wasn't a failure at all but Nintendo killed it for switch. We are living a world that will only buy something if it is "trendy". Nintendo, even though it is the best (in my opinion) from the rest of the competition (MS, Sony) about creating art and not just games, couldn't escape the "need to make money and more money" philosophy and that's why it killed Wii U as soon as the switch was a success. Also I think that my comment is in the core-root of the problem since for example even gamecube (another big failure of Nintendo in numbers--I loved Gamecube and I still have more than 40 AA-AAA games) had a better treatment than Wii U. I remember 100$ bundles with Mario Kart double dash when the Wii was 250-300$. We didn't have something like this now because big titles of Wii U became huge titles on switch with the promotion that switch received... But I don't take Wii U as a failure. Check the prices of scalpers now on Wii U. 400+$ for a new one and 300+$ for refurbished (you can buy a switch with this money)!!! When Wii was discontinued you could find it easily with 100$... Meaning that people still would buy Wii U (even only for Zelda and Mario Kart) but Nintendo had to make room in the factories to answer the huge demand of the new switch "trend". I still hate switch' controllers but eventually I'll but one (maybe a Zelda GOTY bundle) to play Mario, Metroid and all the AAA games. I hope that since they sell like crazy they will honor the buyers with tons of games... We'll see. Cheers.
@bimmy-lee LOL. You are totally right about the GTA and the boat (or the even worst helicopter--ruined many hours of my life to get over this stupid side quest). The weird part is that even though it looks like Nintendo invested a lot of time in horse ridding (you can see this by the paths that the horse follow, in general is a very nice try and a good addition--not a breakthrough in any way though), the ridding is even worse than that of OOT! The obstacle course in Lonlon ranch was playable and the targets mini-game (Gerudo valley) was pretty decent (we are talking about programming more than 20 years ago since the game was released in 1998). I remember in my main file, I had actually a perfect score (all bull's eyes)! In Botw though (which I adore in any way-- I have gathered 120 things that are missing from the game that I might post someday in a blog) these mini-games are horrific experiences! Just a hint (that's how I did it): Use Zelda's horse in the obstacles (Epona is very very fast for it which is not good) and use the Giant horse for the arrow part (in the last 5 targets just dismount and even if you have 1'', since you are in slow motion you can hit the targets--a bob arrow will do the job--I always end up in the grass but the targets count so you still win the game). You can do it! The knights parts for the horse are soooo good (the ones from the obstacles guy are not beautiful in my opinion).
@nukatha Nintendo itself killed Wii U with Zelda (proud Wii U player here from day one, love Zelda, 460 hours already and not a switch owner yet). I am pretty sure that if Nintendo (even now) was releasing a Zelda Wii U edition with all the DLC for 250$, it would sell like hot cakes. But not only they are not doing it but also they stoped (on purpose) the production of Wii U permanently. The idea is simple. They wouldn't release any other games for it and the profit from a console is little. So, if you want to play Zelda, by totally killing Wi U the gamers have only the choice of buying a switch with the copy of the game (360$+tax). This eventually will "force" players to buy games in the future (there is the big money-profit). And I actually wander why they are not releasing a Zelda bundle of the switch? With the case as in the master edition with some extras. People would buy it like crazy. Nintendo unfortunately is STILL a small company. Even though now with the switch are dominating even Sony (!) they are relating on themselves and not on third party companies for games. Result? They are skipping AAA games because they don't have enough people to work on them! (FEW Examples: No Mother 3 on N64, No Metroid on N64, Wii U, No F-Zero on N64, Wii, Wii U etc etc. ALL of them AAA)
@bimmy-lee Thank you! The controls are SO bad. I love the game and I have both normal and master play on 100% (with all the upgrades even from all the amiibos). But DUDE! The controls suck. Even during my second play the minigames that have to do with horses (and unfortunately you have to play them because they give you special items) suck hard. Not a horse user here as well... It's way more convenient to warp from shrine to shrine, horses (of course) don't climb and when they are far away they don't hear the whistle when they are far. In stead of going to the stable to pick up one to go to my destination, is 99% sure than working there on the first place is faster. Mehh
@gortsi Oh, we are a lot! And we are the actual followers of Nintendo since we didn't skip a system. By the way, be sure that the gamepad is way better than the controllers of the switch which are only for kids. I tried the game on target (the demo) and it was so frustrating with this little controller... On the other hand not only it is way better on the gamepad but I am sure that since the gamers who own a Wii U are more dedicated, are better players than the ones on the switch.
