Re: Mini Review: Otxo (Switch) - Think 'Roguelike Hotline Miami With Bullet Time, But Not As Good'

EndOfLevelBoss

Otxo means wolf.

The gunfighting in this game is extremely tense, visceral & impactful. It really gets me "in the zone" in a way that only the Hotline Miami games have done in the past. The banging soundtrack really helps.

If you like the intensity of playing quickly in Hotline Miami you'll probably enjoy this. If you prefer taking your time in Hotline Miami & scoping everything out that doesn't really work in Otxo as there's a heavy emphasis on keeping your combo going.

The roguelike aspect will definitely put some off as there's not a great sense of permanent progression & it does result in lots of repetition in order to improve & get further onto the mansion. There's are a few things you can do to work around this ("Save & Quit" allows you to continue from the last level so you can use this when about to die, or to reroll the liqueurs / abilities available for purchase at the bar).

It's actually a really good game that I personally think would be even better if the roguelike bit was optional.

Re: Enclave HD Brings A Dual Campaign Of Fantasy Action To Switch This Month

EndOfLevelBoss

Has anyone played both Enclave & Blade of Darkness?

I'm really enjoying replaying Enclave. One of my most fondly remembered Xbox games. Sure, it's a bit rough around the edges but it just clicks with me & I find myself thoroughly enjoying it & replaying each mission to get maximum gold.

I never played Blade of Darkness back in the day so I don't have the same nostalgia for it, but I've read several times that it has a similar style & feel to Enclave. Looking at the screenshots it looks a tad more primitive than Enclave visually. From what I read it seems to be a bit of a love it or hate it game due to the control scheme & difficulty. Wondering if I should pick it up or whether it would end up being an exercise in frustration.

Any opinions gratefully received.
