Why are you all so logical! Here I am, ranting utter craziness in a moment of madness and you all reply with comments that have clearly been thought through! Just stop it! Heh, in all honesty, most of what I said I do believe and would like to see. Nintendo need to make some bold moves and acquiring some key indie devs is a good start. Yooka Laylee is more than a throw back to that golden era, it's a project of passion and nostalgia, all of which Nintendo and their fans thrive off. I hope Playtonic find great success and I hope that a greater relationship builds between them and Nintendo in the future.
You know what would be better than Nintendo having this little event with these guys? What would be better is if Nintendo went all in and bought these guys as a 2nd party studio!!! GGARRGGGHHH! Drives me nuts. They are clearly aware of what these guys mean to Nintendo fans of old, which is why they are doing this event in the first place! Buy them out! make them second party! Get a Yooka Laylee Amiibo on the shelves! Have Yooka Laylee as an exclusive to Wii-U and also get the characters in Smash and Mario Kart 8! I...I just don't understand...
Still my personal favourite 2D Mario title. Not sure how many times I completed this back in the day, or how many times I've completed it on my 3DS now. Great music, great levels and just like Link's Awakening, it has a ton of fresh ideas that haven't been used again, which is a crying shame. Bring back Mario in an aeroplane fighting aliens! Love it!
I would trust these guys with Metroid; their Castlevania reboots were good and with the guiding hand of the Big N, a new take on Metroid from these guys could be great.
It's raining here in my home town on a Summers day, now I know why. Horrednous news, struggling to take it all in really. Nintendo's management seemed different from the rest of the industry; less like men in suits and more like a family. This was becoming more evident with the rise of Nintendo Directs etc. Terrible news, just terrible. You will be missed greatly Mr Iwata. I am and always will be part of the Nintendo family and you are and always will be part of my family.
@FragRed I completely agree, it's a complete slap in the face that these games aren't coming to the Wii-U. Nintendo have dropped the ball this generation. If they can't get western devs on their side then they need to at least get Japanese devs back on their side, especially with simple digital releases like this.
I think it’s more the fact that currently the game looks nothing more than a multiplayer title, set in the Metroid universe without any sign of Samus and to top it all off it has you playing a futuristic football game which involves shooting a ball with plasma canons. The premise is as far from a Metroid game as it could be. Now, if they had instead perhaps done a spin off similar to say Halo ODST, which had you playing not as the main hero, but as a normal soldier as part of the Galactic Federation sent off to find a missing unit of other marines or something, then perhaps people would have accepted it better. Hell, the story could have taken place in the Metroid Prime 2 story where you play as those Galactic Federation soldiers who get killed by the Ing just before Samus arrives and the final mission was to ignite the distress beacon; something like that would have been much more acceptable at first reveal.
I already own this game on the Wii-U and loved every minute of it. The only reason I would buy it again on Wii-U in physical form is as a collectors item for myself hehe
@TheRealThanos lol who's fantasizing? I've seen the future man! They are all coming! And whilst I was...Iwata's voice whispers into my head Really Mr Iwata! That's great news! @TheRealThanos , looks like Iwata just confirmed to me telepathically that not only are all these games coming this year, that they have also bought back Rare, so we will be getting a new Jet Force Gemini 2: Mizar's Revenge, Banjo & Kazooie 3: Gruntilda's Wrath, Perfect Dark 3: Joanna Dark vs Bond James and Blast Corps 2: Nuclear Destruction. They've also just bought out Playtonics and will merge them back into Rare with Looka Laylee being Wii-U exclusive now. And finally, Nintendo have bought out Namco, Konami, Sega and Capcom as part of a mission called 'Japan gaming will dominate again'. Their new name will be Nin'Nam'Ko'Se'Cap'do! This is sure gonna be a good E3!
I had a dream! and in that dream Iwata came up to me and said "Nintendo fan! at this E3, we shall give the fans what they have always wanted!" then these games flashed before my eyes! F-Zero GX-2 Pilot Wings: Utopia Wave Race: Typhoon Pokemon Universe Metroid 3 Animal Crossing U Paper Mario U: The One Million Year Door 1080 Snowboarding: Sub Zero Mario Galaxy 3 Mario 64 HD & Mario Sunshine HD Pikmin 4 Bayonetta 3 Chrono Trigger & Final Fantasy 6 HD Pokemon Snap 2 Diddy Kong Racing 2 I then woke up with tears of joy streaming down my face. I have seen the future Nintendolife...and it is glorious!
YOU'RE A VIRTUAL TIGER! ON THE BACK OF A BIG LION! THAT IS RIDING A FALCON! THAT IS FLYING THROUGH SOME FIRE! lol epic lyrics! been posting these everywhere!
Man, this game! I bought my N64 back in the day with Golden Eye, Mario 64, Banjo & Kazooie and F-Zero X. 30 cars on screen all at once and 60fps! how many games can claim that, even today. As soon as you boot this game up, you hear the guitar whine in and the title music explode into awesomeness and you know from that moment on that this game is going to be amazing. The sense of speed is still phenomenal and I remember going so fast sometimes that your car would lift off the track and you'd fly off and explode into the landscape below. Once again, another series that goes untouched for years by Nintendo and it's crying out for an update, amazing game!
@Spoony_Tech I agree; I played it again recently and can confirm that the jet ski still feels glorious as it surfs on the crest of the waves. Great game and a series that Nintendo really needs to revisit if you ask me.
Back in the day, N64 Pal games were slower than the US/JPN versions, also they had large borders and sometimes choppier framerates. The game itself still played like a dream though and still does.
