Re: Interviews: Namco Bandai Games - Fragile Dreams

Donatello

I'm interested, but IGN's 6.7 review is putting me off. It seems that the atmosphere, graphics, flash light IR controls, sound and music are all fantastic, but the combat is weak, there are tedious fetch quests and overall the gameplay is just decent at best...But hey, this is IGN we're talking Dewy's Adventure and now this are on my maybe list.

Re: Review: Calling (Wii)

Donatello

@SatoriSatya

I'm not saying 30fps is bad or anything, I'm just saying 60fps is more impressive and more beautiful to the eyes and enhances gameplay. But in order to achive 60fps, the graphics themselves may have to be stripped down in some form or another, or having to take certain things out. Yet look how gorgeous Super Mario Galaxy managed to look, and it was all running at 60fps. The same goes for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption fo ex. But I agree, if a game starts to dip below 30fps that's when things get annoying and like you said saps the joy of the game. 30fps is fine, anything below is unacceptable in this day and age....The PSOne and N64 was thee' era for many games running below 30fps....Zelda OOT is an example.

Anyways, speaking of On Rails shooters....Have you tried out Dead Space: Extraction yet? I picked it up a couple of weeks ago, have yet to play it. But everyone is saying fantastic things about it. I'm still mixed on getting RE: Darkside Cronicals, to me it's smelling like a Rental

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th March 2010 (North America)

Donatello

OMG!...Drooling over the release of Castlevania Rondo of Blood
And is it true that Turbo Grafx 16 VC games are alittle blurry looking?

Anyways Rondo of Blood, and Rage of the Gladiator are getting my sweet sweet cash.
But I still have a few more dates(if more) with Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz. I'm on the 8th world....few more stages to go hehe.

And hopefully Bloodlines will be hitting shortly after, it's the only other Classic Castlevania game I haven't played besides Rondo of Blood.

Re: Review: Calling (Wii)

Donatello

@SatoriSatya.

I'm sry but HOTD Overkill is a poor man's HOTD game. GrindHouse presentation and using the F-Bomb over a million times aside. inferior 30fps(when all HOTD games before it were 60fps), quick freezing/clipping problems, horrible and easy boss battles(the final was just awful), graphics were just decent, using no reticule is inacurate and just unplayable so you HAVE to use it where as in HOTD 2 and 3 Returns is 100% dead on like the arcade WITH no reticule, Slowdown(take the carnival for example) It all just pales in comparison to the classic HOTD2...3 even puts it to shame. Yet still, I had a better time with Overkill compared to Umbrella Chronicals, but that's not saying much

If anything, what I did like about Overkill were the slow motion Items where you could easily pick apart and blow enemies heads off hehe

Re: Review: Calling (Wii)

Donatello

@MickeyMac

Horror is horror, even if it's an On rails shooter. And I said 'Horror' not Survival Horror. And RE4 is still a Horror game, although it's definitly more action Oriented. Action/Horror seems right.

And you mean Clock Tower?

Re: Review: Calling (Wii)

Donatello

As far as Wii Horror games go, these are the ones worth buying...

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Dead Space: Extraction
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
Resident Evil: Archives
Resident Evil Zero: Archives
HOTD 2 & 3 Return

While the major duds are clearly....

Ju-on: The Grudge
Calling
Obscure 2
Alone in the Dark

And the Mediocre...

HOTD: Overkill
Cursed Mountain
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicales

I still havent gotten the chance to try out RE: Darkside Chronicles....It's been getting very mixed reviews, ranging from 6-8.

Re: Review: Calling (Wii)

Donatello

I knew this was going to be mediocre at best the first time I laid eyes on the uncreative generic and boring trailer. The ghosts in this game look incredibly stock and unscary. This honestly looks like a 'lost' Dreamcast title with Wii Controls thrown on.

Re: Reggie: Nintendo Not Considering Successor to Wii Quite Yet

Donatello

@ Rhansley64

LOL!
Are you serious!? You honestly think Nintendo will release their new Console in 2015 -2016? Nintendo's next console won't arrive any later than 2012. 5 years seems about right...any later than 6 is a no no.
Really though, I don't mean to be rude but that's just a ridiculous and flat out silly opinion. By 2016, there might even be talk about the Wii3. lol

Re: Review: Mega Man 10 (WiiWare)

Donatello

@deadly.by.design
Blade and Commando man's themes are the only duds out of 8 Robot Masters if you ask me. I'm loving Solar(especially) Pump, Nitro, Chill and even Sheep man's has grown on me while Strikes(while catchy) is just alright.

The music for the Dr.Wily's stages are not bad, not quite as good as MM9's...Stage 2 is completely forgettable, while 3(especially) and 1 have their moments. Stage 4 is extremely catchy too and then there's the 0.5 Wily theme which is pretty cool.

Re: Bass Coming to Mega Man 10

Donatello

Alittle off topic, but.has anyone beaten MM10 on hard mode yet with Mega man or Proto man? I've almost. I'm now at Wily's Stage 3 with Mega Man....And let me tell you, Wily's Stage 2 was one of the biggest torture fests around. You will die and die, while ripping your hair out and wanting to fling your Wii Remote into the Tv Screen.

But, once you master the patterns and learn when to use the right weapon at the right time you'll eventually beable to beat it....Only the MM pro's that is. It's the only level I've played that really puts your weapons to use(again, on hard mode that is)

Anyways, $2 for Bass? and considering MM10 is $10 Retail, that's a steal. I myself would pay $59.99 full price for MM10 alone

Re: Review: Mega Man 10 (WiiWare)

Donatello

Playing as Bass is going to awesome.
Right now I'm still trying to beat the game with Proto man...which is clearly alittle tougher than using Mega Man when it comes to taking damage.

Re: Review: Mega Man 10 (WiiWare)

Donatello

MM10 may have more value, but for me MM9 was the better the game and overall it was a more fun and exciting experience. It was more cheery, colorful, had better music for the most part and it just felt flat out epic. Those MM9 Wily stages were the best in the franchise and their music is amazing.

MM10''s main appeal(besides Easy mode for newcomers) Is the fact that you get to play as 3 characters which leangthens and adds so much more to the experience whic is fantasic but you still have to pay extra for the 3rd character. Music wise MM10 definitly has some gems, and a few ho hum tracks. Solar's man's track is simply amazing, Pump's is dirty/aquatic, Nitro's is pure classic, Chill's is moody and bad ass ect. Yet I wasn't crazy over most of the Wily stages 'or' the music....they were very lack luster compared to MM9's....the final Boss was also suprisngly easy compared to MM9's and I felt unsatisfied with the quicky ending.

Also, Blade(especially), Commando and maybe even Strike man's tracks seem to be the weakest of the bunch. None of them to me are in any way classic. Blade's stage is also the weakest. I found it dull, repetitive and annoying.

And dont expect any unique stand out moments in MM10 compared to MM9. MM9 had those rotating platforms that would swirl you around Tornado man's stage. Or Wilys stage 3 where you're floating in the air while shooting to move around. those moments were classic.

MM9 is a 10/10, while i think MM10 is a 9/10

Re: Review: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii)

Donatello

I'm about 2 Hours into it and I'm somewhat mixed. The graphics are great, the flash light controls are fantastic, the Cell phone is a great idea and I love the use of motion controls to open cupboards and solve puzzles, as easy and simplistic as they all are(so far..)

But the enemies just arent scary...or messed up and imaginitive as the previous freak shows in the other Silent Hill games. The nightmare sequences(I've only been through one) are annoying if you ask me, yet still intense. You have no idea where you're going running through doors, because you have no time to check your map because those little creatures are running after you resulting in trial and error based on where you're supposed to go. And what's the point of hiding in these closets when those enemies find you moments later?

Honestly, they should of added combat instead of just running....Yes the combat is clunky in previous silent hill games, but this is the Wii were talking. IR Controls for combat would be fantastic as seen in Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition.

I think the games high point(again) are the great graphics, flash light controls, cell phone and change of atmosphere...not that's it better, it's because it's a change for once...I'm also using head phones so it's hard to tell if my Cellphone radio is getting louder to sense enemies near by ;p....damnit.lol

Overall I'm digging it, but it's got it's flaws. It fails regarding the uncreative bland unscary enemies. Previous Silent Hill games 1,2,3 and 4 are leagues better. And this game doesn't have the same creepy vibe as the others either...hmmm, like i said though i'm still only 2 hours in so i need to finish it ;p

Re: Australia Gets Black Wii & New Remote Colours

Donatello

BEWARE of the Black Wii Remote. The back part of it isn't smooth plastic like the regular White Remote. Instead, it's a Matte(rough feeling) Finish. Sure the Black Wii Remote looks totaly sexy, but using it feels weird. Hell I dont even use the thing because of the rough matte finish feeling.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Hits May 23

Donatello

I'm so glad they got rid of Mario's Pointer controls for the traditional platforming parts of the game, because in the first it was in the way AND it made getting Starbits too easy, the same goes for killing enemies...

Anyways trailer looks amazing! hopefully the Koopa Kids are back, but i doubt it ;p

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 Hits May 23

Donatello

Holy crap! awesome news, Still need to play Tatsunoku Vs Capcom, Silent Hill, A Boy & his Blob, Muramasa, Dead Space Extraction, Wii Fit Plus, Pikmin ect....Sigh ;p

MM10 in only 8 days baby! time to celebrate.
Anyways, since SMG2 and Metroid Other M are being release earlier than expected that only means that Zelda Wii will hit before christmas.

Re: Review: GhostSlayer (WiiWare)

Donatello

I'll pass....I'm saving my Wii Points for Mega Man 10.
Besides I still need to get LostWinds 2.

As far as MotionPlus goes, Red Steel 2 will be my next experience for that.

Re: Super Meat Boy Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Donatello

Yez, I bit Ze' Bait hehe ;p
Nah, i'm just expressing my opinion based on why me no like ze' 360.
Anyways, I'm not exactly looking forward to this game anyways. On the other hand, Mega Man 10 has me doing ninja turtle back flips in anticipation

But I gotta say, Yet it Moves looks alittle more interesting than Meat Boy, graphicly speaking at least. I love my Fido Dido. ooo, and Can't forget about CaveStory.

Re: Super Meat Boy Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Donatello

@Corbie
The PS3 may have inferior Online but at least it's Free. Not that i really care, because i'm not much of an Online gamer unless we're talking about Fighting games. As for the Controller, the DualShock is a much better controller than the 360's because it still reatins a bit of retro-ness with it's d-pad placement and feel, yet i'm not a fan of Sony's loose analog sticks. but again all of that is a matter of opinion.

That aside, the PS3 also has better exclusives if you ask me....But it's a shame that the 360 usually always gets the 'better looking' version of 3rd Party multiplatform games. Resident Evil 5 is a perfect example..It looks soft/blurry on the PS3, has poor contrast, slowdown and it's missing effects in certain areas of the game, While the 360 version looks crystal clear, has great contrast, less slowdown and the effects are better. Ghostbusters also looks like crap on the PS3...There are a dozen more examples as well.

But really, i hate MS....I'm all about Japanese developers nowadays...Most of the exclusives for the 360 are made right here in America, like Halo, Mass Effect, Bioshock, GTA, Call of Duty, PGR, Splinter Cell ect and many more. I can't stand all of those franchises, even Bioshock got incredibly boring and tedious once i entered the second area and no IR/Motion controls hampered the experience for me after witnessing the amazing controls Metroid Prime 3 brang to the table.

And, who can forget the Red Ring of Death, it's happened to me 3 or 4 times..but for some reason my 360 was fine after all of those times it happened, weird.

Anyways, the 360 seems to be the console of choice for meatheads, close minded adults who need 'serious' Army games, and little kids that are trying to be hardcore by buying mindless shooters and gangster Sandbox games ;p I kid, I kid hehe

At least the PS3 retains that japanese vibe...And it makes for a great Bluray player lol

Re: Super Meat Boy Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Donatello

@irken004
We don't need an HD version of the game. Team Meat just want's to branch out their game to other platforms to make more money. A Game like this belongs on the Wii.

And why isn't this heading towards the PS3? Not that i care though

Re: Super Meat Boy Coming to Xbox Live Arcade

Donatello

Bluh. I hate the 360. Why I baught one I'll never know, but I sold it 8 months later, thank god .And it'st controller, ugh. Not to mention playing Super Meat Boy with the 360 pad would feel too modern and crappy for the game, considering the 360's pad is thee' worst D-pad ever created in the gaming world... and using the analog stick wouldn't feel right. Like all retro titles, the Wii remote on it's side is golden and is the real way to play to get that true Retro experience. i even tried using the dual shock for MM9 and it just didn't feel right, and sucked the fun out of the experience.

I'm a Nintendo nut, and i like alittle Playstation on the side ;p
MS needs to be banished from the gaming industry, and Sega needs to make a comeback!

Re: Nintendo Patents Touch Screen Rumble Feature

Donatello

Of course it's for the DS2....Nintendo will not release another version of the DS, since that would be ridiculous as there are already 4 types of DS's on the market...DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL.

Anyways, I would of never thaught of this idea, but it's a great and unique idea. Only the brains at Nintendo could of came up with this. Shall be interesting! Also Nintendo will most likely include the Option to turn it off for those who don't like it.

So overall, here are tidbits we've got so far for the DS2

~High Resolution Graphics
~Motion Sensor Controls
~Touch Screen Rumble

I'm guessing they'll also go with 2 'WideScreens' this time around, along with Gamecube-like graphics and hopefully a Handheld Virtual Console ect.

Re: Upcoming Media Summit Promises Surprises, Hype

Donatello

Besides Zelda Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M

Other Possibilities?

Luigi's Mansion 2
kid Icarus
Wii Play 2
Pikmin 3
Wave Race Wii
F-Zero Wii
Mario Party 9
Kirby Wii

Wasn't there also talk about a Punch-Out!! 2 a few months ago? The Developers wanted to creat a whole new roster of boxers, and change up the gameplay alittle adding something new, since Punch-Out!! was basically a remake of the original.

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure is Reborn in Europe Next Week

Donatello

I'm not a fan of the Metroidvania Castlevania games either. SOTN for me, was just alright. I got so annoyed with the endless amount of weapons you could get, it just seemed too overwhelming. The Boss battles didn't flow as tight as the classic games either and werent as fun if you ask me. Most of the Music was solid...but eh, the game just wasn't compelling for me and I missed the awesome platforming from the previous games.

Dont get me wrong though, i LOVE Metroid, but Metroidvania style Castlevania just doesn't do it for me. As for Legends that the first GB game which everybody seems to hate. II on the otherhand is supposed to be great.

On another note, which castlevania was the toughest for you guys?
For me it had to of been III: Dracula's Curse.

And yes, i guess i'm a rare specimen indeed ;p
People Watch sports and bet for cash, or play cards for cash....I 'videogame gamble' baby
Super Street Fighter II HD Remix and SSB Brawl are my two pics hehe.

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure is Reborn in Europe Next Week

Donatello

@SatoriSatya....Bah, i could care less about the Olympics. It's not exciting at all to me in the least. E3....now THAT's exciting.

What do I care for a bunch of people who train their asses off in which ever support to become the best. I know it's a cultural thing and yadah yadah. but to me that's not entertainment, it's boredum ;p

I'm all about imagination, art, creativity, fantasty ect. I'm a Nintendo and horror movie nut....Sports dont interest me at all, yet i grew up playing baseball and basketball when i was a kid ect. Seriously though i just dont see the appeal watching a bunch of rich retards banging their sticks around while hitting a puck into a net. if you call that entertainment then just strap me to a rocket and send me off to the sun.lol

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure is Reborn in Europe Next Week

Donatello

speaking of Rondo of Blood, when is it hitting the VC in America?
I still need to play Bloodlines as well...

and IV one of the weakest Corbie? no way! ;p
It had thee best Castlevania Sountracks as well if you ask me...And you cant deny the awesomeness(And insane challenge) that is III: Dracula's Curse which is my 2nd favorite of the Classic Castlevania Franchise. The Original is fantastic as well.

ReBirth while good, wasn't as challenging(although it was near the end) as previous Castlevania games. The only real trouble the game gave me were the last 2 levels. And the environment patterns repeated themselves too much.

On another note out of totaly WiiWare randomness, IGN gave Blaster Master Overdive a 6.5!? what the hell man.

Re: Castlevania: The Adventure is Reborn in Europe Next Week

Donatello

It is the weakest Classic Castlevania game I've ever played, but it's still great nonetheless. And I wouldn't say the sound track is weak at all. there are a few good remixes. I especially love Stage 3 'New Messiah' it's just fantastic.

And the game keeps on getting better and better the further you get and there are some solid boss battle through out. But it lacks the creative, moody and innovative spark that Castlevania IV had. IV is in another league and to me it's the greatest castlevania game period. And seriously, they should of brang back the controllable dangly whip move from IV! ;p

Anyways, I'd give this game an 8/10
I just wish Konami would of created more stages and put more imagination into it. I definitly had a better time with this when compared to Contra ReBirth.

Actually...II: Simon's Quest is the weakest if you ask me....The Day to night transitions were annoying as hell, some of the bosses were lackluster(the last especially), there were ridiculous and unthinkable moments were you would need a cheat guide just to get past certain spots otherwise you were screwed. At least it had an amazing sound track.

Re: GhostSlayer Slicin' and Dicin' WiiWare Next Week

Donatello

@LongtimeGamer
For me, Umbrella Chronicals was a total half artichoke attempt by Capcom.
The IR was clunky, the hit detection was horrid, the pacing was bad, the slowdown was terribly annoying at times, runs at 30fps and lower, the boss battles(take the Tyrant for example) half such a tiny Dead Zone when trying to take them down which because frusturating, it gets boring fast...actually for me, once I hit Racoon City(RE3 Nemesis Scenario) i was getting tired of it. And really, the outside areas of the game were the weakest, they look awful too. The Experience was just so mediocre for me, it's a poor man's Resident Evil/On Rails/Light Gun game.

Although, Darkside Chronicals looks better....I'm just alittle iffy on it though, i may give it a Rental. But knowing me I'll for sure buy Dead Space Extraction.

And really, I dont know which game I found worse....HOTD Overkill or Umbrella Chronicles....at least Overkill doesn't have fake Widescreen Bars and sleep inducing gameplay, but Overkill isn't so pretty either, especially when it came to the weak sauce Boss battles.. Both games are letdowns, and I didn't really have any fun playing either of them.

Again, HOTD 2(especially) and 3 for the Wii own both games. IR is dead one 100%, both games run at 60fps, solid graphics(2 may be dated, but they're still decent) fast arcady gameplay, great Boss battles ect.

Re: GhostSlayer Slicin' and Dicin' WiiWare Next Week

Donatello

The best on Rails Experience for the Wii is the HOTD 2 & 3 Collection...HOTD 2 is a classic. and the IR with the nyko perfect shot is dead on like the arcade. HOTD Overkill was totaly mediocre and a dissapointment in comparison. I hated Umbrella Chronicals, but i kind of want to check out Dead Space Extraction

Re: DS2 Rumour Is Rumour No More

Donatello

Everybodies guessing it will have GameCube-like graphics. On the other hand, High resolution graphics and Motion Sensing controls have been confirmed. nintendo Will most likely incorperate 2 Widescreens as well. A Virtual Hend held store would be fantastic as well for GB, GBC, GBA, Game Gear and even NeoGeo Pocket games ect.

I just need to get my damn DSLite back from my buddies place. I havent played it in a while. Will be skipping the DSi and DSi XL though

Re: Developer Allegedly Has DS2 Kit

Donatello

@ CAP N

You should definitly upgrade. Don't you want to beable to play perfectly bright games without having to worry about having a worm light/lamp over your head while playing? ;p The DSPhat doesn't cut imo, and the design is ugly. to each their own though. but if i were you, i'd definitly upgrade.

Re: Developer Allegedly Has DS2 Kit

Donatello

I think I can give up the DS in alittle over a year.....there are only 2 games I'm looking forward to for it this year. I'm sure E3 will have some wicked announcments for 2010 DS games as well. As of now there are probably around 15 games for the DS that I want. I already have 15 so...it's a matter of digging up the money and getting them ;p But i'm just too into the Wii right now. Legendary Starfy, i must have youuuu.

As for the Wii, hell no...I'm not ready to give that up at all. I could in 2 years maybe, but it's too damn good right now
