I played III on PS4 and the frame rate in first person view was so bad that it hurt my eyes. A Switch 1 version would be even more painful to play, so no, it really should be Switch 2 only. AVOID a Switch 1 port if it ends up existing, you'll regret it just from the frame rate alone.
I was at that event! I didn't know about dressing up in cosplay and jumping into the pasta, though. When I arrived, a Nintendo employee said that a "special guest will be here soon!"
Naturally I was hoping it was Miyamoto, but rather it was Charles Martinet, at first when I found out it was him, I was a bit disappointed. Mario didn't talk much anyway, its not that interesting for the voice actor to be there. But he was so gracious and kind, we talked for a bit, I told him my name and then I left.
One year later at E3 2003, I was there when Nintendo was showing off the DS for the first time, as I enter the booth to play DS, Charles was there, and he called me out specifically by my name! He actually remembered me, I was flabbergasted, I didn't expect that at all.
I met Charles a third time at E3 2017, again he was so nice, what a great guy, I wish he was still the voice of Mario. Alas.
@Carck I believe his point is that every Sonic game throughout its entire history has been rushed to market. I don't think a single game in the franchise (2D or 3D) has had a 4 year development cycle. Most of the games are made within 2 years, maybe 2 and a half, and it clearly shows in their quality.
A new Mario game will be announced next year for Switch 2, it'll have how many years of development? 7 or 8 years? We already know in advance that this upcoming Mario game is going to have plenty of time and care poured into it. We want to see Sonic games received the same level of time and care put into them as well.
I hope the next Sonic game isn't as sloppy as Forces, which I'm currently finishing up the story DLC (its surprisingly challenging at certain points). I always dream of a 10/10 Sonic game on the level of Mario Odyssey craftsmanship.
