@larryisaman Yeah, you get a game that can be played and finished all on the cartridge by getting the Switch 1 version, but if you go the way of the upgrade path for Switch 2, that extra data you download is forever on the hard drive. You can't save it to the cartridge, or back it up to physical media. It's fine if you're in the "some is better than none" mindset, but you just have to live with it being a "finished game" rather than a "complete game". I equate that to buying a book with select pages torn out, not just for this game, but many other games since the idea of dlc was introduced.
As far as console launches go, this is probably one of the best ones I can remember. Plenty of stock, with some sellouts, but more stock keeps trickling in regularly. If you're looking to get one now, check with your local Gamestop (in person) and see if they can help. Also follow game dealers on Twitter for alerts on when the next shipments drop in.
@sethfranum It came out today that these Onn microSD EX cards are actually relabeled Lexar cards. Lexar cards have always worked great for me, so my mind is even more at ease now.
@SonicMC That's what I bought and it's working perfectly so far. 512 GB for $60 USD. I've used other Onn products in the past and they continue to work great.
The key word is "currently". This could absolutely change in a few years as tariffs, wages, game development costs and other expenses further cut into their profit margin.
@missingno_fgc The game size doesn't matter to companies. It's the time it takes to transmit data to the cards, plus the ability to have control over their product after sale.
@Zuljaras Also don't forget that your saves are tied to your Nintendo account. Any movement of them, such as to a new system, requires an online connection on both systems. Nintendo gets you online to authenticate your games one way or another.
@MrCarlos46 : Update - Looks like Breath of the Wild for Switch 2 will not include the Expansion Pass on the cart, but will include the upgrade pack on the cart (no code).
@MrCarlos46 Right? Lots of vague lingo to sift through at the moment, but we'll know the answers soon. Thankfully Tears of the Kingdom never got any dlc, so whatever is on the Switch 2 cart should be complete (pending an answer to the upgrade pack question).
@MrCarlos46 That's a bit of a stretch, but we'll know the real answer in a few months. Another thing that bothers me for Breath of the Wild is no mention of the Expansion Pass dlc for Switch 2. That was never released on the cart for Switch 1 and costs an additional $20.
@Yosti While it doesn't use the word "download code", it states, "Includes the Nintendo Switch game and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Upgrade pack also available separately". Why even bother mentioning the pack being available separately if it's already on the cart? This implies a code to me.
@JoaoCGS The box contains the Switch 1 version plus a download code for the upgrade. Therefore whatever is on the cartridge will function identically to Switch 1. It says so among all that fine print at the bottom of the box.
In multiplayer, can't a skilled player still carry a struggling player through the more difficult parts? I remember in the NSMB games, a struggling player could hop into a bubble and float off to the side so they can let the skilled player work.
@sanderev Yeah I noticed that! I hope they do some catch up events soon, or at least offer them as locked items purchasable with tickets like they did with the very first theme.
@HugoGED Unfortunately many of today's physical games use an internet connection to some extent. Sometimes it's updates for harmless bug fixes, or missing dlc, or use of a download code in a physical box, or major if it requires to be always online.

@larryisaman Does it matter? Either way, you won't get all the data in physical form (either some or none).

@Bigmanfan 80 what, dollars? If so, that will all depend on how a certain president feels that day with his tariff policies.

Does anybody know how often these event themes pop up? I'm missing so many of them, especially the last 5 or so.
