Re: Nintendo Removes Restriction On 18+ Content For the Nintendo eShop

Bluezealand

@datamonkey
"Thing is unless German law changed, how did Nintendo get around this as they are still based in Germany right?"

As pointed out thousands and thousands times by Germans as myself (not only in this news, but in every news regarding this subject) there never was such a German law!
Nintendo needed a punching bag to hide behind, and because most gamers are (apparently) ignorant and wouldn't listen (including the news-writers of NL!) everyone blamed the Germans.

I'm still waiting for the apologies.

Re: Nintendo Removes Restriction On 18+ Content For the Nintendo eShop

Bluezealand

"Nintendo's parental control system always seemed very robust to me, so the limitation was simply dumbness on the part of USK."

Ehh, what? The USK had nothing to do with this! They wouldn't even have the power to command things. All they do is rate video games on demand (!) of the publishers!
The restriction was Nintendos choice.

@Ernest_The_Crab: You're wrong there. It's not even part of the duties of the USK. The Landesmedienanstalten are the ones who actually could demand changes on the parental control setting, but they would only act, after the system is released and when they think, the youth protection isn't working properly. There was absolutely no need for Nintendo to restrict the access to 18+ content from the beginning.

Re: Potential Wreck-It Ralph Sequel Should Have a Moment "Perfect for Mario"

Bluezealand

"Wreck-it Ralph may have been released in North America way back in early November, but it's not long since it arrived in movie theatres in the UK and Europe..."
In the UK maybe, most parts of Europe got ist last year in November/ early December, though...

Also, since Disney produced in over 75 years only two sequels to it's Disney Animated Classics (not counting DTV-mess from the Cartoon Studios, which they stopped producing in 2006) it is highly unlikely, we'll see a second one. Maybe a short like with Tangled.

Re: Scribblenauts Unlimited Delayed In Europe

Bluezealand

@manic221
regarding Steam: If you "pre-ordered" the game until the end of december, you were able to download it immediately with all languages. So, while it's true, that the game is actually not released for now, the reasons for that don't have something to do with translastions and stuff.

regarding Assassin's Creed: ok, you are right there, but I think I made my point clear.

Re: Scribblenauts Unlimited Delayed In Europe

Bluezealand

@darkgamer001
So, why are you talking about this "issue" here then, though it has nothing to do with the reasons Scribblenauts Unlimited was delayed in Europe?
You should also consider, that half of the games you play on your Nintendo consoles comes actually from Japan and has to get translated into English as well, while other big Western developers come from countries like Germany (Crytek) or France (Ubisoft) and the people there have to wait for the English translation as well.
So unless you've no problem to play the next Assassin's Creed in French...

Re: Scribblenauts Unlimited Delayed In Europe

Bluezealand

@MrGawain
Don't think so. It got a USK-0 in Germany (btw- back in September, which means, the translation for the game was done months before the original release date.)

@Swedishdolphin
Wow, I must be a real miracle then: The only German in a land of uneducated morons, who actually don't refuse to speak English. Maybe I should write to Guinness about that...

Re: Nintendo Europe Working On Fix For Wii U eShop 18+ Restriction

Bluezealand

@Henmii
facepalm!
As pointed out dozens of times, there is no such German law (which you would know, if you would actually read some of the comments). Besides- Germany doesn't have different laws than the "rest of Europe". There is no "rest". EVERY country is independent and does have its own laws, we are not one country like the USA (and even there you have something called subsidiarity)!

Re: Annoyed About Age Restrictions On The Euro Wii U eShop? Blame Germany

Bluezealand

@adrenochrome: I'm pretty sure, minors, who actually declared their real age in their account, can't buy inappropriate content at all. The problem is, you can't really proof, if the age is a lie or not and even their parental control channel is only optional. There are many parents, who just don't care.

What Nintendo could have done, is some kind of age verification based on your ID or Credit Card. But there is no system, which would work in every country, so it would have been a huge amount of work for Nintendo, to implement a working system for each country.
I for one understand, that they did avoid that.

Re: Annoyed About Age Restrictions On The Euro Wii U eShop? Blame Germany

Bluezealand

Guys, you don't really get this law and I bet, every European country has similiar laws. This law isn't only for games, it's for all visual media content, which has to get rated (also movies and stuff), so that a TV station can't show the Saw movies at 1PM.

And this law is ONLY active, if there isn't some kind of age verification implemented. With Pay TV channels in Germany you have a PIN code, if they are showing adult stuff or porn at certain times. Nintendo could have easily done that, too. I bet all European countries have such laws, so stop blaming Germany!

@adrenochrome:
You can get every game, legally at every time in every shop. The difference between the eShop and local shops is, that in local shops the staff members are responsible for what they sell to minors. They are the ones to blame, if inappropriate content gets in the hands of children.
Online shops use different age verification systems, which are (most of the time) only needed with the first order, fast and free of charge.

Re: LOVEFiLM Arrives on Wii, Wii U App Will Go Live "Soon"

Bluezealand

@RexNatFlenders: It is part of the German Wii U menu, can be re-downloaded from the German eShop and tells you in German, that it requires an update to work and that you can test it for free, as soon as its available.

I don't believe for one second, that it won't be available in Germany.

Re: Amazon Instant Video Goes Live on Wii U

Bluezealand

@9th_Sage
It is strange, because in the US amazon didn't sell any Nintendo hardware for almost 1,5 years- including the Wii U. So, they are offering their service on a platform of a company, which they boycott.

Re: Amazon Instant Video Goes Live on Wii U

Bluezealand

@PoshSnivy
I doubt it. The UK will probably get a bbc-app and that's it. -.-
Or maybe they have contracts with Sky (which I don't use though). At least they promote it A LOT in the Video app on the 3DS in Germany.

Re: Nintendo Talks Miiverse, Nintendo Network, And Internet Browser

Bluezealand

@Bass_X0: There's is nothing wrong with the Classic Controller (Pro), I have myself one of them. It's just, with Wii U, I'd like to upgrade on to the Wii U Pro Controller and it seems ridiculous to me, that I have to buy (nevertheless) more Classic Controllers, although the Pro Controller could do the job quite well.

Re: Nintendo Talks Miiverse, Nintendo Network, And Internet Browser

Bluezealand

I wish, they would do another Nintendo Direct. There are still so many questions, regarding the eShop, the future of Virtual Console, the separation of Wii- and eShop (permanent or not?).
I'm still not sure, whether I should transfer my Wii data to the Wii U or not. For now, I see no reason, why I should do this. For what I know, my Wii purchases won't included in my Nintendo Network ID and I only can use Wii controllers. So I have to buy Classic Controllers, because I can't use my GC-controllers nor the Wii U Pro controller? Seriously? WTF?!?
