The more you shake the faster he'll run! Time your jumps right with your Balance Board while swinging the Nunchuck to throw fire balls! All this is presented in awesome old-school 8-bit graphics you used to love!"
Jokes aside, I'd really like to hear some info about new Mario and Zelda games.
There's no egg. First there is that hourglass with a heart inside. That was easy to break. The mirror was on level 85 I recall. Anyways, I managed to break it already and got to the real ending. Although I don't know what that talk about fairies and stuff is at the ending but I guess that's just some typically weird japanese nonsense
You don't have to wait to be killed in those narrow places. I know it's very frustrating to notice that you seem to be unable to blow any bubbles as they all seem to pop immediately (It's because you can't change direction without moving a bit and the bubbles pop much more easily in this version). But if you jump around a bit and keep on blowing bubbles, eventually one or two bubbles won't pop. It takes some time but I've always been able to do so (be warned that if you're not careful you'll sometimes pop a helpoing bubble by accident in that situation and that's not funny at all). I do agree that it's a programming fault in the game and should not be like that though.
Anyways, the game is definitely one of the best titles WiiWare has at the moment. The Arrange mode levels are amazingly fun to play. I feel that they are even better than the original levels.
I'm still having one proble though.... I can't find the way to the REAL boss on the Arrange mode... I've been able to get the first item needed but I don't have a clue of what to do with that big mirror in one of the levels (well, I did have one thing in my mind but wasn't able to try it yet. I doubt it'll work though).
@Betagam7 Winter Games is mostly based on timing and rhythm. There's no need to waggle the joystick like in Decathlon. In fact, if you try to get higher speed on skating and skiing by waggling as fast as you can, the speed will be as low as possible.

It looks quite fun as it reminds me of some fun and simple C64 games Even that controlling system reminds me of playing games with a good old C64 joystick.

Although I'm not able to play the game and participate to the contest, I'm very glad about the fact that you've put this kind of a "press certain button certain amount of times" secret to the game. It reminds me of some great NES and PlayStation games. It's always great to have hidden secrets and codes in a game.
This certainly makes me appreciate your team more!
@Betagam7 While it's true that cartidges weren't as common as cassettes and diskettes, there have been carts available almost the whole life of C64 and they weren't that uncommon. Of course, the more "advanced" games such as Batman The Movie and Robocop 3 were made as carts in 1990 or so, but most of the game carts were made in 1983 or so. Well, I guess you already knew that but I just had to write something
And yes, Head Over Heels would be great! Although more than that I would like to see Gogo the Ghost released as a VC game. That's one of my favourite games ever (and not just as a C64 game).
I think Jumpman has one too. I have Impossible Mission, Jumpman and now Mayhem in Monsterland. As I haven't used the keyboard when playing Impossible Mission, I've always thought the keyboard has always been transparent. Now as I think about it, I recall Impossible Mission had the keyboard at the bottom of the screen (and possibly not transparent) while both Jumpman and MiM have transparent keyboard on top of the screen.
Not only this game take a lot of inspiration from Mario and Sonic but the title tune sounds almost exactly like the Tiny Toons theme And it's not just the beginning of the tune but the whole track resembles a lot of Tiny Toons. Go ahead and listen!

It seems like Toki Tori is more popular here in Finland than it is anywhere else
I agree with you what comes to the annoying scrolling. While I so much wanted to play this game and found it's world fascinating, the unbelievably annoying scrolling was simply too much. I can't understand why on earth they chose to use scrolling like that. It shouldn't be a problem to make the scrolling happen a bit earlier.
At first I thought it was the C64 version of Enduro Racer and wondered that why would they release that as, although I played it quite a lot, it got AWFUL reviews. I've played the SMS version a couple of times and I thought back then that it was very good.

It's interesting to see what happens when the next WiiWare update arrives on Friday.
The most popular WiiWare titles list here in Finland:
1. My Aquarium 2. Defend Your Castle 3. LostWinds 4. Strong Bad Ep. 1 5. Wild West Guns 6. My Pokemon Ranch 7. FFCC 8. Cocoto Fishing Master 9. Toki Tori 10. TV Show King 11. SPOGS Racing 12. Pirates 13. Dr. Mario 14. Block Breaker Deluxe 15. Star Soldier R 16. Actionloop Twist 17. Pop
Finnish people seem to appreciate Toki Tori the most when comparing to other countries
I don't know if this situation is only here in Finland or is it somewhere else in the Europe too, but anyway, this is how it says in the Popular Titles here in Finland:
1. Defend Your Castle 2. LostWinds 3. Wild West Guns 4. Cocoto: Fishing Master 5. My Pokémon Ranch 6. FFCC: MLaaK 7. Pirates: The Key of Dreams 8. Toki Tori 9. Dr. Mario 10. Block Breaker Deluxe 11. TV Show King 12. SPOGS Racing 13. Actionloop Twist 14. Pop 15. Star Soldier R
@Mike Ok, fair enough. You have the right to complain and I have the right to complain about you complaining
Anyway, the style people are complaining is not very fair. People are making a way too big deal of it and jumping into conclusions. I just can't understand why there's so much hate for a game company let alone for a certain person in that company.
And what's my opinion on the recent releases? I haven't bought a "new" game since Toki Tori and Impossible Mission were released. There just haven't been anything interesting for me. I've bought some older releases (The fantastic Mario's Super Picross and Comix Zone) that I've thought would be interesting enough for me to buy. There are still many games I could buy if I really really want something but right now there are only two games I'm 99% sure I'm going to buy when they get released: Mega Man 9 and Jumpman. In the meantime I'm checking out what is released in the Europe and in the USA. For me, it's always fun to read about different games and see people's opinions about them and I'm always sure that at least some people in the world are happy that Nintendo released them (even if the games are the crappy ones). I'm enjoying the fact that the amount of available games are growing higher and higher (yeah, quantity over quality )
I do wish that there would be more variety in the platforms and genres of the released games each week. You are right about the need of variety. Still, I don't see that being a big issue (which you of course are entitled to do if you feel like it).
I'll grab my holy coat at the door and get back on my high horse and ride away ahead to the future adventures
Did I understood you right? You are telling that Nintendo has no clue how to run an online service just because the games they are releasing several times a week aren't the games you want and because they release different games than what the developers are saying?
Logic at it's finest.
(and although you don't like it how they didn't release Ys and Mega Man I know there are lots and lots of people who are very happy that they got the SMS Sonic and Splatterhouse 2. I doubt those guys and gals are thinking that Nintendo don't know how to run the service.)
"I want candy, I want candy! I want it now! No, mom, you bought the wrong kind of candy! I hate you mom!!!!"
@aphexbr They don't necessarily know what their own schedule is as they don't necessarily have a schedule. Maybe that's the reason there isn't going to be a list for the games that are going to be released. You know, the "variables" and all that. Who knows what kind of a bureaucracy there is in the USA in this kind of things. There could be a number of papers to write and a lot to do to get the games ready for releasing. Maybe the business things in the USA are so much tighter than in Japan that they just can't promise anything too soon.
@SuperSonic1990 Why people should buy Wii Points in advance when they could do it after the games are released? What's the point in doing so? It saves time? Hardly.
Well okay, I've bought some points in advance myself. I did it because I want to have some points in my account when Mega Man 9 is released as I'll start my studies soon and don't necessarily be able to buy points for a long time. And if it for some reason doesn't get released at all, I still have the points and will be able to buy some other games or just wait for something to be released.
It's interesting to see the monthly schedule of Japanese VC games but I feel that if I'd be able to see what games will be coming each month it wouldn't take away a lot of fun from Mondays and Fridays when I'm awaiting for the update. It's much more fun to be surprised than to know beforehands what we are going to get. It's like Christmas presents. Knowing what's inside every box takes a lot out of the fun of finally opening them. Even if the presents wouldn't be great.
I'd say most of the Wii owners who buy Virtual Console games every now and then didn't even know to expect Mega Man & co. They just check the new games once a week or once a month or once in two months etc and buy something if they're interested without getting much disappointed if there isn't anything interesting available. It's not like Nintendo is trying to make the fans feel bad. And remember, it's only a game. If your expectations grow so high with these games that when you don't get what you were waiting for you are extremely disappointed and cursing companies to hell, I just wonder how you manage to deal with life. It must be a hell of a stress.
@Link79 Why you are so angry? He is a human being and as human beings we sometimes make mistakes (especially in places filled with people and pressure).
Anyways, it could be so that the sliding ability is gained at some point but it won't be there from the start or then it could be so that there isn't that ability at all but with a certain weapon it would be possible to get items from places like on that video. Everything is possible.
You could've said your point without any unnecessary name-calling.
If the games are in order in the Popular Titles section of Shop Channel, then the European list is as follows:
1. My Pokemon Ranch 2. LostWinds 3. Pop 4. FFCC:MLaaK 5. Cocoto Fishing Master 6. Dr. Mario & Germ Buster 7. Star Soldier R 8. Toki Tori 9. TV Show King 10. Block Breaker Deluxe 11. Actionloop Twist
@Dalek I'd say use the remote and the nunchuck. With the nunchuck you move Toki Tori and with the remote you control what items to use. It's better that way as the cord between the two is long enough to make the controlling relaxed. I tend to play sitting on the armchair and letting my right arm (which uses the Remote) rest on the armrest while my left arm (which uses the Nunchuck) is on the left armrest by it's elbow with the fist pressed against my cheek. That way it's very relaxing to move Toki Tori around while trying to figure out how to solve the puzzles.
The remote+nunchuck combination is better than the Classic Controller as it doesn't force you to keep your hands near each other for the whole game and it's better than using only the Remote because it's easier to keep Toki Tori moving around while wondering what to do next (I like to move him around for the most of the time even if I didn't know what to do next and to me it's easier to do quick moving decisions with the nunchuck than by aiming the remote).
Toki Tori's success in America saddens me a bit. I'm glad he's doing better here in Europe.
I wonder if the fact that it costs 100 points more there than here makes some difference... I mean, it's a fact that people will buy a product that cost 9.99 more likely than a product that's a full 10. Although it's really not much more expensive, a game worth 1000 points feels more expensive than something that's "only" 900 points.
And when people are comparing 1000 point titles to each other it might be so that they want 3D-games more than 2D games which is quite sad...
When I read that this game could be played by two players I immediately thought it would be fun to play it with my girlfriend (I'm playing and she's giving clues, and vice versa). I downloaded the game and told her that she could help me with the second Wii Remote. She just thought that she wouldn't do it as she didn't see it important or anything like that. I asked her to at least try it. She tried and didn't think it would be of any use and found it pretty awkward to try to give hints like that.
Fast forward to the castle stages... She had been watching me play from the beginning and her interest on the game just grew and grew. I had a serious problem with one of the levels and just couldn't beat it. She had an idea on how to clear the puzzle and tried to explain it to me. It was hard for her so she almost stood up to go in front of the TV to show what she meant. At that point she just "naturally" grabbed the Remote and draw her thoughts on the screen. It was EXACTLY how the developers had thought it! I just had a huge feeling of JOY from the realization of it and the greatness of Toki Tori just kept on growing.
If I could meet the people behind Two Tribes I would shake their hands and say a huge "thank you" for giving us top notch entertainment!
I know these titles will get close to zero votes so no-one's probably going to notice them (except for Mischief Makers perhaps) but here it goes anyway:

You don't have to wait to be killed in those narrow places. Winter Games is mostly based on timing and rhythm. There's no need to waggle the joystick like in Decathlon. In fact, if you try to get higher speed on skating and skiing by waggling as fast as you can, the speed will be as low as possible.

There could be a number of papers to write and a lot to do to get the games ready for releasing. Maybe the business things in the USA are so much tighter than in Japan that they just can't promise anything too soon.
Re: USA VC Update: Sonic (Master System) and Splatterhouse 2
@SuperSonic1990
Why people should buy Wii Points in advance when they could do it after the games are released?
Re: USA VC Update: Sonic (Master System) and Splatterhouse 2
@SuperSonic1990
Why should they give out the release dates earlier? It would most likely just lead people being disappointed two days earlier.
Re: USA VC Update: Sonic (Master System) and Splatterhouse 2
I'd say most of the Wii owners who buy Virtual Console games every now and then didn't even know to expect Mega Man & co. They just check the new games once a week or once a month or once in two months etc and buy something if they're interested without getting much disappointed if there isn't anything interesting available. It's not like Nintendo is trying to make the fans feel bad. And remember, it's only a game. If your expectations grow so high with these games that when you don't get what you were waiting for you are extremely disappointed and cursing companies to hell, I just wonder how you manage to deal with life. It must be a hell of a stress.
You guys are such geeks and otakus here

@Link79
Why you are so angry? He is a human being and as human beings we sometimes make mistakes (especially in places filled with people and pressure).
Anyways, it could be so that the sliding ability is gained at some point but it won't be there from the start or then it could be so that there isn't that ability at all but with a certain weapon it would be possible to get items from places like on that video. Everything is possible.
You could've said your point without any unnecessary name-calling.
Re: Most Popular WiiWare Games in America (16th July)
If the games are in order in the Popular Titles section of Shop Channel, then the European list is as follows:
1. My Pokemon Ranch
2. LostWinds
3. Pop
4. FFCC:MLaaK
5. Cocoto Fishing Master
6. Dr. Mario & Germ Buster
7. Star Soldier R
8. Toki Tori
9. TV Show King
10. Block Breaker Deluxe
11. Actionloop Twist
(Yeah, only 9 games here in Europe)

Re: Mega Man 9 Cover Song
I got some major inspiration from this cover so I had to make a cover too which I'm now going to pimp here with zero amount of shame
You can hear it at http://www.myspace.com/ramiairola
For a bit better sounding version CLICK HERE!
And if you want to hear the original MIDI (or to just see the notes), check this out: http://www.elisanet.fi/rami.airola/downloads/RamiAirola-MegaMan9Cover.MID
Kudos to Tanguy Ukulele Orchestra for giving the inspiration
Re: Toki Tori
@Dalek
I'd say use the remote and the nunchuck.
Re: Most Popular WiiWare Games in North America (25th June)
Toki Tori's success in America saddens me a bit. I'm glad he's doing better here in Europe.
I wonder if the fact that it costs 100 points more there than here makes some difference... I mean, it's a fact that people will buy a product that cost 9.99 more likely than a product that's a full 10. Although it's really not much more expensive, a game worth 1000 points feels more expensive than something that's "only" 900 points.
And when people are comparing 1000 point titles to each other it might be so that they want 3D-games more than 2D games which is quite sad...
Re: Review: Toki Tori
Re: Nintendo Power Poll - What Games Do You Want To See?
I know these titles will get close to zero votes so no-one's probably going to notice them (except for Mischief Makers perhaps) but here it goes anyway:
1. Gogo the Ghost (C64)
2. Mischief Makers (N64)
3. Kickle Cubicle (NES)
4. Platoon (C64)
5. Gold Medal Challenge (NES)
Re: EU VC Releases - 22nd February - Street Gangs
Contra was Gryzor on C64.
