@Kategray many thanks for the coverage on our game!
@CharlieGirl You sure know a lotl about axolotls!
For the other comments, we get inspiration from many of the great roguelites: Nuclear Throne, Enter The Gungeon, Blazing Beaks, Binding of Isaac, Hades, etc., while adding our own unique spin to it with: the pet management gameplay. In AK-xolotl, one of its unique features is finding all the baby axolotls and then feeding and nurturing them. As they grow, you will unlock different traits to choose from, so each one will feel slightly different gameplay wise. Once they are fully grown up, they become playable. 🙂
Hi everyone, first of all thanks to Nintendo Life for covering the launch of our game!
@Sean161 @brunojenso is right, Lost Wing is a speed shooter not a racer like Wipeout. The game is inspired in Wipeout due to the choice of pods to race and shoot and the ability to accelerate and brake (something not normally found on a shooter). In the end it's a mix of many elements and it's difficult to classify Lost Wing as solely a shooter or a racer as it's a mix of both.
@spirit_flame while we agree that a trailing cam would give it a more cinematic feeling considering the type of gameplay and the need for precision and shooting it would have made the game harder to play.
Hi! Publisher here. First of all thanks a lot to Nintendo Life and Ryan for covering Inferno and thanks to you all for your comments!
Just a clarification from our side regarding the RPG elements that are not obvious from the trailer. Inferno 2 has an XP system that will allow you to level up and allocate then those points to customize your ship, weapons, and powers in different ways.
@60frames-please we can't confirm at the moment. As I said we still need to do optimizations and test but our aim is to make it run at the fastest FPS we can.
@Ventilator Hey, this trailer is multiplatform and was recorded on Ultra settings on PC. I have to say though that the Switch version will not be very different. At the moment (we still have to optimize) it runs at 720p 30FPS on handheld and we will try to raise that as much as we can. We'll show Switch gameplay closer to the release.
@Dirty0814 Totally understood, everyone has different tastes and we respect that
@Racthet916 It is very hectic and you really need to be always on your toes but the controls are quite precise and tight.
Hi! Publisher here. First of all thanks a lot to Nintendo Life and Ryan for covering Lost Wing and thanks to you all for showing interest in it!
@Bunkerneath The tracks are procedurally generated using handmade areas so we are positive that their design is good. Also there are some tracks that are fixed in the game.
@bluedogrulez it is not a runner, you control the speed and can even enter bullet-time also you have full analog movement control.
@BorderlineJon A bit, yeah, also Tempest but it has it's own gist such as not being on fixed lanes and controlling your speed as in a racer.
In any case, you can try it out. As the article says we are going to run a free Closed Beta through our Discord and we will tweak the final game based on the feedback
@lillith Thanks a lot! We are really excited to start publishing fellow indies besides our own games. 😊
And no need to apologize. We know people feel burned when prices are higher on Switch. So, we try to set a fair price for our games looking at Steam and other consoles.
@lillith It is $9.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. And it will be $7.99 when we release on Switch with a 10% discount on pre-orders. Not the mobile price but surely you can't compare playing on Switch to a mobile phone.
We think it is a really fair price for what we think is the best version of The Bug Butcher yet.
Hi! Publisher here, thanks for sharing the news first of all!
Those of you mentioning Super Pang (Super Buster Bros in America) from the arcades are very right! If you liked it back then in arcades you'd love The Bug Butcher. The Bug Butcher core mechanics are inspired by it with modern twists like dashing, upgradeable weapons, special attacks to unlock, bosses, co-op, endless mode...
@Shiryu Oh, yeah. We're big fans of Velocity but yes, Dimension Drive is a different IP. There's so many cool things that can be done with teleportation!
@Shiryu Hi. Developers here. Not sure what you mean, this is the first game we do and this is the first release we do. There was no previous entries and definitely not one on PSTV. At least that we know of XD
Thanks a lot to NL for sharing the news and to everyone for the nice comments
@arpaktiko No typo there. We are dead serious. Our Kickstarter base tier was 9.99€, we consider it fair not to charge more on Switch. We want that as many players as possible can enjoy the game without the price being a big barrier.
@Danrefroe2016 It's medium size game. A normal play time for an average player is around 6-7 hours (12+ hours to achieve perfect ranks and find all weapons and secrets). It contains 13 levels + 13 extra levels unlocked in the New Game+ (we call them Mirror Dimension).
@Dang69 For a new player to the game the switching mechanic becomes "reactive", meaning you react and use it to avoid getting killed and dodge things that would be impossible otherwise. In this playing state it's fun but disruptive. When a player starts mastering the game switching becomes "active" where you will constantly be using it to move and navigate the playing fields. In this state of play it becomes subconscious and you enter in flow. So, as with every shmup it's a matter of experience and mastery in the game.
@Ryu_Niiyama My answer above pretty much sums up how is to manage both screens for a new player.
@Starbuster we agree with what @Dang69 described. Achieving that state of being "in the zone" or also described as "flow" in game design theory is what every good shmup tries to drive the player to. We hope we succeed in this with Dimension Drive.
@EmirParkreiner Happy you like it! We have taken very seriously the games that have come before in the genre and tried to avoid typical flaws in some shmups. Having said that Dimension Drive feels more like a classic shmup with innovations than modern bullet hells coming from Japan. The closest experience would be if you mixed Ikaruga and the corridor based gameplay of something like R-Type III.
@crackafreeze As @bluesdance said voice acting is only present in the intro of the game (the video you see in this article and the game ending). Story is mostly done through cutscenes in between levels that you can skip if you want to. Or you can go in the options menu and disable completely any story text, dialog and voice over for a pure shooting experience. So, we let you decide how to play it
@neufel The game is localized to English and Spanish. The gameplay is simple enough to understand without any text so I doubt you have problems playing coop with non-english speakers. Obviously, the story bits will be trickier to follow.
@mattyboy No. Dimension Drive has Single player, 2 player coop and a New Game+ with new levels that unlocks when beating the game. In any case we are open to add more features and modes in the future if there is enough demand.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE as Thomas said the announcement trailer is mostly gameplay footage. A bit old since it was recorded in January this year and the game has improved in visuals and action by now. We will release a new trailer soon when we secure the launch date
And yes, it takes some inspiration from Ikaruga. Kind of like if you took that concept to the extreme of separating completely the two fields into two levels side-by-side.

@YANDMAN We hope this will be the first of many, we'd love to bring back the whole back catalogue of Radiangames from 360 over to Switch

Re: Lost Wing Combines Wipeout And Thumper To Bring Beautiful Shooter Action To Switch
@99x We're still working out the target price as it will depend on the amount of content we are able to fit in the game for launch.

@Dayton311 We will definitely not launch the week of Mario XD
@nsmon25 Voice acting is only in English at the moment but we could add Spanish in an update if people like it.
Definitely not expensive in our opinion. How does 9.99€ sound?
