We've updated this list following the April 2024 Indie World Showcase. Enjoy!

Looking for the best new Nintendo Switch games releasing soon? 2023 was a banner year for the now-ageing hybrid console, and even if it looks like the Switch is winding down as it approaches its eighth year on the market, there are still plenty of beauties to pick up in 2024.

In terms of first-party offerings, Another Code is making its grand return, as is Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Princess Peach is taking centre stage in a brand-new game. And remasters of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon are on the way. The third-party slate is looking pretty healthy too — maybe 2024 is the year we finally get Silksong?

Which upcoming Switch games have us saving up our Nintendo eShop Gold Points? Below we've rounded up 35 (ish... come on, you know we can't just have 35!) of the biggest new Nintendo Switch games coming soon. They run the gamut from AAA first-party offerings to DLC to promising-looking indies. We'll be adding to (and subtracting from) this list as the weeks and months go by.

Let's take a look at our most anticipated Switch games for the months ahead...

Nintendo Switch Upcoming Games

Planet of Lana (Switch eShop)

Planet of Lana is something we've been hoping to see on Switch since its launch on Xbox and PC earlier in 2023 — particularly given that our sister site Pure Xbox had this to say about the stunning puzzler in its review:

"We had a blast completing its unique and varied puzzles while also admiring the stunning scenery along the way, and it's definitely an experience that lives in the memory once you've completed it."

That's us sold, then. Planet of Lana came to Switch on 16th April. Check out our own verdict below:

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Switch eShop)

The title isn't lying — there are at least 100 playable characters in this epic Suikoden-inspired RPG. After absolutely smashing its Kickstarter goal at the end of 2022 and raising $3.5 million, we can confidently say that each of these Hundred Heroes will be worth at least $35,000. That's how that works, right?

Developed by Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama, who sadly passed away earlier this year, this spiritual successor will be launching on 23rd April 2024.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU (Switch eShop)

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a brand new EA Originals title that we think stole the show at The Game Awards 2023. Developed by Surgent Studios, which was founded by actor and performer Abubakar Salim (known for Raised by Wolves and for playing Bayek of Siwa in Assassin's Creed Origins), this is a stunning-looking Metroidvania inspired by Bantu myth which explores loss and grief. It launches on Switch on 23rd April 2024.

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland (Switch eShop)

There are a lot of games on this list that make us pinch ourselves and ask "Wait, what year is this?" But none more than Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland. Inspired by licensed NES platformers, this new Rugrats game can be played in either HD visuals (which look like episodes straight from the cartoon) or in 8-bit visuals. All of your favourites are back, and you can swap between them to utilise their unique abilities. Limited Run Games is bringing this one to Switch in 2024.

Sociable Soccer 24 (Switch)

After years of waiting, Sociable Soccer 24 is finally kicking off on Switch. First seen in 2017 and eagerly anticipated by those who grew up playing Sensible Soccer, Switch owners will have to wait until sometime in "early" 2024 before kicking off on the pitch.

Endless Ocean: Luminous (Switch)

Well, who had this on their bingo cards? Endless Ocean, the Nintendo-published series from developer Akira, is making a return on Switch with Endless Ocean: Luminous. We haven't seen this one since the Wii days, and with online multiplayer with up to 30 people and 500 different marine species to discover, you'll be having a lovely old time with friends when this drops on 2nd May 2024.

Animal Well (Switch eShop)

We've had our eye on Animal Well for a long time. This unconventional pixel art platformer looks delightful and unsettling, blending surreal visuals with fun puzzle-solving. There will be no other Metroidvania like it, we feel, and we're excited to at last play through this weird and wonderful world on 9th May 2024.

Little Kitty, Big City (Switch eShop)

A huge surprise at Summer Game Fest 2023, Little Kitty, Big City is more than just an adorable cat simulator. Explore the streets and get up to all sorts of mischief as this delightful little kitty cat. The game is launching on Switch on 9th May 2024, so we'll make sure to sharpen our claws and save our nine lives before this one lands.

Braid: Anniversary Edition (Switch eShop)

We've been waiting since 2020 for more news on this classic indie title's return, and Braid: Anniversary Edition is finally coming to Switch on 14th May 2024. The time-manipulating puzzler really made a splash back on Xbox Live Arcade in 2008, and this rerelease will contain new puzzles, updated visuals and sound, and developer commentary.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Switch)

Oh boy, it's finally happening. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is getting the HD remake fans have been begging for for years, and it looks absolutely stunning. This turn-based RPG has some of the best characters and funniest dialogue in the genre, making it a cut above the rest. Mario RPG fans will be eating over the next twelve months. However, we'll have to wait a while for an exact date for this paper-crafted adventure, as it's coming on 23rd May 2024.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Switch)

An upgraded version of an already great RPG? Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is more than just an upgrade really — there's brand new story content to jump into, which is reportedly meant to double the game's length. Add in new demons, mechanics, and some visual upgrades, and this looks to be the definitive version of the one-time Switch exclusive. SMTV: Vengeance launches on 14th June 2024.
