No Man's Sky on Switch is a fantastic port of a game we genuinely didn't believe could make the transition to Nintendo's console without some serious technical issues. Hello Games has made the necessary cutbacks and downgrades to get this intergalactic survival sandbox playing at a super solid frame rate and the colourful, chunky graphical style here ensures that it all still looks pretty fantastic to boot. With all of the game's previous updates and content included — barring multiplayer at this point — and a plethora of customisation options courtesy of the massive Waypoint update, this is an easy recommendation for survival fans and an impressive Switch port.

A short, compelling point-and-click adventure game originally developed in 2014, OneShot: World Machine Edition has an endearing, sombre story in which developer Future Cat makes you – the player – a character. The quest of Nico, a cat-like child, is framed as a game installed on a PC that functions as both a menu and narrative device and Niko will frequently break the fourth wall to address you by your Nintendo Switch profile name as you guide her through a dying world.
Unlike the adventure games of two or three decades ago, none of the puzzles stumped us, yet the dopamine rush hit us all the same when things slid into place. Before we knew it, the credits rolled, and we sat back, pensive from its bittersweet ending. A Very Good Game™.
The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition (Switch eShop)

Croteam, the creator of The Talos Principle, was previously known primarily for their silly (but fun) Serious Sam titles. The Talos Principle shows a remarkable maturity and depth of scope that's perhaps surprising, but in a very good way. It poses interesting questions, allows the player to progress at their own pace — mostly in a non-linear fashion — and is a hugely satisfying piece of game design. Utterly entrancing and highly recommended.
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (Switch)

This is the exact same, excellent game that you’ve played before, so whether or not you want to buy it again is personal choice. Regardless of which side you fall on, Axiom Verge is a fantastic example of how to do a Metroidvania right.

When Unknown Worlds announced they were bringing Subnautica to Switch we were hugely excited, this is one of our all-time favourite games after all, but it was excitement tempered with a degree of scepticism as to how on earth they'd manage to cram the entire experience onto Switch in a properly playable manner. As it turns out, we needn't have worried as this is a super solid port that — besides a few loading stutters and scenery pop-in that's present in every other version of the game — successfully delivers one of the very best open-world survival experiences on any platform to Nintendo's hybrid console.
The sequel, Subnautica: Below Zero is also on sale.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate (Switch)

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate may lack the accessibility that made Monster Hunter: World such a smash hit, but it more than makes up for it by being a sort of ‘greatest hits’ collection of the high points of the series, giving you hundreds of hours of content to play through. Couple this with the HD visuals, easy-to-use multiplayer, and the ability to play the full experience on the go, and you’ve got a game that will appeal to both veterans and newcomers alike. It may not necessarily represent the future of the series, but this is a fantastic experience in its own right and a worthy follow-up to the 3DS original, and one that no Switch owner will want to be without, even if series newcomers might want to start with Rise first.

It looks and sounds every bit as good as its predecessor and, although the story might be a little more hit-and-miss, we were completely hooked from beginning to end. This is a sumptuously crafted adventure you won't regret diving into.

Whether you played this back in 2012, or are completely new to the series, Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season One is still a masterpiece of video game storytelling. It features some of the best voice performances you’ll find on any gaming platform and sets the stage for a grand, multi-season odyssey of tragic proportions. However, this is also a satisfying and poignant collection even if you never play the subsequent episodes. Even if you lost patience with Rick Grimes and TV series adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic books, this remains an incredible interactive adaptation of Kirkman's world of walkers.

Mega Man 11 is an excellent resurgence for the character, imbuing the tried-and-true classic gameplay with modern touches and new ideas that expand on existing concepts. The underlying action platforming gameplay is just as tight and challenging as you remember, and when combined with the new visuals and extra options for replayability, you’ve got a game that’s every bit as good as those that came before, while surpassing them in some ways. Mega Man 11 is a modern classic, a fitting refresh for a beloved series.

You know you buy too many games when you own almost everything in a buyer's guide.
I'd add the No More Heroes series and Deadly Premonition 2 to this list. They only very seldom go on sale - once maybe twice a year. Most of the games on this list are fine - but they spend most of the year on sale.
Outstanding sale, honestly. If you don’t have The Messenger, for that price, just do it! I would recommend nearly any title in this list… and yes… I’ve completed most of the games on this list.
To those who shop at Costco, they have $100 eShop cards ( 4 @ $25 ) on sale for $80.
Perfect timing with my recent decision to focus on my Switch OLED a bit more (Xbox GamePass has kept me away). I purchased a bunch of Eshop cards on discount and just purchased Hades, Death's Door, Dead Cells, Chicory, Into the Breach, Mark of the Ninja Remastered and a few more.
Is it bad I already own probably 75% of these. My Switch library is pushing 500 titles between digital and physical. I think I have a problem. Still, this is a pretty great sale and there are a couple gems I might have to snag to add to the collection. (I'm in trouble if the Switch2 is not fully backwards compatible :/ )
Tetris Effect and Gris are damn near mandatory purchases at those prices.
One is arguably the best version ever made of an all time classic, the other is a clever and enthralling puzzle platformer, and both are among the most ethereal and evocative experiences on the platform.
Full Metal Furies is an absolute blast if you have a co-op partner
I want to buy most of them. But thanks to my country's lousy economy. I can't afford to pay 24 times the price of a game.
@Bobb I feel like a co-op partner is practically mandatory for Full Metal Furies. I had a good time playing with my roommate, but I found it to be a slog in single-player.
@WhiteTrashGuy if you are being honest with yourself then yes - it is a huge waste of money. I used to buy games on sale on Steam constantly - to barely ever, if at all, play them. It is a waste of resources and it nags at your brain that you either 1) need to play these things when you really don't even want to or 2) could have spent it on anything else.
I keep it to myself but the constant foruming of "well if it weren't for this backlog I might just..." like it's a job. Treating a backlog like it is a point of pride or something you just have to do before you enjoy life is patently ridiculous. Frankly it's sad. I know, because gd have I been there in a real, addictive and harmful way. Still am in some sense.
Finally pulled the trigger on Generations Ultimate.
Good list for me to edit my wishlist with. But I'm on a buying freeze mostly until BF. I may buy eshop credit if that is on sale since it is free money.

Dicey Dungeons wasn't on my wishlist but at $3 I may get it just for the heck of it.
Back in the day I would rent a game every Friday for $5 and play it over the weekend. That is about $10 in todays money. I keep that in mind when looking at these sales. If I buy a game for $10 and play it for just a couple of days, arguably I got my money’s worth. If I like it, great. If not, or if I like it kind of but not enough to stick with it, it’s no bigger waste of money than taking a shot on a game rental. This mentality shift has kept my “backlog” in check.
From those on here that I've played, I'd say Dark Souls, Iconoclasts, Blasphemous, ABZU, Enter the Gungeon, GRIS, and all the Monster Hunters are no brainers at those prices. Xenoblade 3, Astral Chain, and Octopath Traveler were already must-buys at full price, so I guess that goes double for them. Also, Dragon's Dogma is $5 and I'd rank it above half the games I just mentioned, so buy it.
If you don’t have Horace, get it. I was really surprised how good it was.

West of Loathing may indeed be a great game but the game's director and founder of Asymmetric, Zack Johnson, physically and emotionally abused his ex-wife and fellow Asymmetric employee. The dude also remained good friends with his ex-wife's rapist, Randy Mack, a former player of the main game in the Loathing series, Kingdom of Loathing.

Because Rouge Legacy 2 launched on steam for $20 and has been down to that price multiple times i refused to pay the Switch asking price. Of course i bought it in this sale and the next day it was announced as free on ps plus this month
Into the Breach is one of the best games I have bought on the Switch. A daily 5 minute chess match with mechs and kaiju. I rarely play more than 30 minutes at a time but I still play it nearly every day.
@Manxman64 yes you are unfortunately correct. I had really been enjoying NMS for short plays every now and then and the update sounded so good but it has ruined the switch port completely.
I don't think it's a part of the Hyper Max sale but Arkanoid Eternal Battle is 67% off for any fans of it.

@Manxman64 the No Man’s Sky devs are amazing and 100% care about the community. You can bet they’re working on fixes but they do have so many platforms to look after that it won’t be immediate, given that they’re still only a small team.
Never really enjoyed Thumper, it always gets good recs here on the sales but I really dislike the game. Have made it through a good handful of levels but it's never hooked me.
Agree with a lot of comments above, I own so many of these! Good marketing from NLife haha, I always purchase because of the good coverage but also agree my backlog should not be a point of pride. Haven't bought anything for Switch in a long time but I have well over 100 titles and a lot of boxed games, Starfield will not help with any of this 😂
@HoyeBoye I haven't tested joycon tilt, but it is Dpad and Control Stick controls. The control stick is analog sensitive fortunately, and you can adjust its sensitivity. There's a nifty dash move mapped to ZL/ZR that will shift Vaus quickly to the left or right sides respectively for quick positioning or last second saves. I think we all can agree that the wheel is still the greatest input for Arkanoid.

Not a dud on this list. Amazing that if someone only bought all of the games on this list, which are all on sale, they'd have many years of enjoyable gaming. Easy to forget just how many great games are available on Switch, no matter one's taste.
If you only buy one game on this list, Iconoclast was a joy to play.
I ended up picking up Live A Live and Rayman Origins from it, wondering about maybe grabbing Steins;Gate 0 or the Age of Calamity DLC before it ends but also got A Wonderful Life and Rain Code so reluctant to spend more money.

Finally bought Skyrim with this 50% off sale, and boy am I glad I did! This game is seriously addicting, and it's everything people make it out to be. Took them long enough to sell it at a reasonable price on the eShop.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 for $40~ is a great price, but I just can't bring myself to collect AAA Nintendo games digitally.
Realized I went on a Raw Fury rampage. Atomicrops, Bad North, West of Dead, Kingdom Two crowns and all their dlc. Absolute steal. Not even half the price of a new release.

Yeah. : It sucks because West of Loathing is a great game, but you can't really separate the art from the artist when he's so intrinsically tied to the project (and the company).

I almost broke down and bought Skyrim myself. I keep holding out hope that I'll find a physical version of the game for around the same price. That and I already own the game on multiple platforms. I hope you enjoy it though!
@KainXavier I've been waiting years for a good physical sale, and I just couldn't wait any longer when I saw it half off. Honestly I'm so glad I got it regardless. Game is amazing! And there's something special about playing it handheld, just feels extra fun since I grew up with Game Boy's. Plus I appreciate having a digital copy since I can boot it up no matter what game cart I have installed at the moment.
