The worst thing about playing RE4 Wii Edition first is that any RE game you play next is going to be an enormous step backward in terms of control.

All of the games in the series that I've played (haven't played 5...) have been worth playing for one reason or another...but be prepared for many camera-caused deaths and control-caused wasted ammo.

Good games, I want to reiterate...just...prepare to be frustrated.

Yeah. I played RE4 first. So when I played the other ones I just couldn't control them. I probably gave up to quickly, but I still just didn't like it.

RE4 is definitely an amazing game, and according to those who have actually played the other games, one of the best in the series. RE5 might be better, but that's just because of co-op. If there's one thing RE5 does wrong, though, it's the damn inventory. We had this cool realistic inventory where every item took up a specific amount of space, and then we take a step back so that an egg takes the same amount of space as a rocket launcher.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

@Moco Loco : Which weapon had unlimited ammo in the GCN version? If you are talking about the rocket launcher for beating the game under a certain time limit, it is still in the Wii version.

No, the only thing RE5 does wrong is simply existing. =P
Sorry. I love RE but hate that game with a tremendous passion; i'm drawn to bashing it like a moth to a flame.

Yeah Waveboy I agree about the RE remake. It was certainly great looking, but it just lacked the magic of the first game. That and I hated the idea of having to burn the zombies or else they turn into super zombies. I guess some people could argue that it makes the game more challenging, but I just found it an annoying hassle. The game was fine without that aspect. I do reccomend the game, and really for the most part they stayed true to the original, but I definately prefer the PS1 version.

Do you guys think Afterlife will be the last movie of the story of Alice?

I have been playing the Mercenaries minigame on RE 4 alot, it is pretty fun but can really be a challenge if you want to get the 4 or even 5 star rankings.

I disagree, Waveboy. I first bought the original Resident Evil on launch and played it to death in 1996. I have since rebought it on the Sega Saturn and the Nintendo DS however I have to say the GameCube remake is a huge improvement in every area. In the remake you encounter Forest later on than you did in the original so that tension is not necessary and is replaced by other equally terrifying things.

For example the first encounter with Yawn - just as large as before but looking much more mobile. Originally it just slithers into the room and rotates around it - you know there's no chance it can appear unless there's a giant fireplace or hole in the wall but the new one is agile and can appear from anywhere. When you first come accross Neptune - that actually made me jump in the remake when it lands on the metal platform (not to mention when it tries smashing the glass and plays dead later on). The addition of the Lisa Trevor storyline makes the game all the more eerie and the animated backgrounds really add a lot to the atmosphere. You see shadows, tricks of light, movement out the windows - much more effective than static mid nineties CG renders.

Anyway I don't want to take anything away from the original with this post - just pointing out why I prefer the remake from someone who has enjoyed Resident Evil from the very start. The original always will be a genre defining game and a true classic of the 32-bit era.

Just got done beating if for the second time, it took about half the time it did to beat it the first time, it's alot easier when you all ready have your weapons upgraded.

I dont mind long games I actually welcome them. Nothing p.o.s me more than buying a game and finding out that I can beat it in the amount of time that I could have it as a rental.

The only main RE game I still have yet to finish is RE Zero..

That game was so disappointing, though it did have some good ideas (i liked the character-switching mechanic). Took me a while to slog through that one, even though i think i did still end up playing through it twice back when i was on a ResEvil kick.

If you aim at it and your cross hair doesn't turn red you can't break it, there are a few locks and chains on doors you have to shoot/break in the game but the amount of doors you just shoot to break threw are few.

You might not have to, there is more then likely another way out.
