One difference from the remake of Resident Evil that I remember was that you had to burn the zombies in order to completely kill them off, simply shooting them down wouldn't suffice sinse they would just respawn. I don't remember having to do that in the PSX version. But I could be completely wrong on this. I haven't played either version in awhile.
As for RE4... great game. A friend of mine gave me his GCN copy of it once he got the Wii Edition. I haven't beaten it though, still stuck in the castle. Don't let the difference in controls keep you from playing the older games. It's not like there broken, they just take a little time to get used to.
I found an old copy of RE Zero the other day at my local GameStop and i think they have RE3 Nemesis and I am still kicking myself in the butt for not buying either of them.
My favorite boss in RE4 is the one that you have to freeze with the liquid nitrogen tanks. I remember a moment when he was chasing me and I stopped to open a door, then he open-foot spartan-kicked me, making me fly halfway through the room which I had just opened. Good times, good times.

After hearing your guys thoughts and reading some different reviews I'm kinda reluctant to pick up any other RE game on the Wii, like Brutus said it would be like taking a step backwards at least in terms of game play.
That said that does nothing to change my love for RE4 Wii Edition, I really don't have a complaint it's just fun to play and so in depth and "LONG" and a I love that.
I have been playing it like crazy at least and hour a day sometimes more and I have still not beat it, which is a great thing I hate when I get a game and beat it in two or three days or the dreaded one day.
Like, I said I'm not even done with it yet and I'm all ready thinking about playing threw it again, doing a few things different now that I know what I'm doing more and what not.
4 is my fav UC second and 1 is last as of right now

I just got to the Final Chapter on 4 this has been one of the longest if not the longest game I have ever played, the bosses are starting to get tough as well.
Resident Evil 4 is awesome!<3 Though personally I prefer RE5 in pretty much every way. They're both some of the best, though, and hugely compelling! I never could get used to the Motion controls in the Wii Version, but since there's an option to use the Cube controller, I really didn't have to bother. And I got it for only slightly more than you did! Procrastination for the WIN!
I just got my copy from Amazon today!!! XD Going to check it out tonight when its dark out.
I just got done beating it I thought it was just awesome I hope I didn't hype it up to much and you end up liking it.
Here is a link to a pretty helpful walkthrough if you need it, I did fine for awhile but when it started making me do puzzles which I'm terrible at I needed the help.
No you didnt hype it up for me I have been thinking of getting this game for awhile, I was just waiting for it to get cheap in case I didnt like it. Like I said before I always liked the RE series I just didnt like the control system for them but I am willing to give it a try with the Wii controls.
But from all the reviews I read and everyone whos played it they say the Wii controls are alot better and even old RE fans like me have come back to the series.

And Mickey the motion controls were one of me favorite things about the game but to each his own.
What can I say? I'm a traditionalist. Heck, personally I can't wait for the series to go back to its roots with tank controls and some actual scares. Still, I did enjoy RE4 for being a great action game, especially with the old-school controls (though it could've used the quick-turns from RE5).
Some of the Boss Battles on RE4 are just amazing...
And as for other games in the series I only have a Wii,PS2 and a N64 and I don't plan on getting a new system any time soon.
No problem, RE 0-4 and Veronica was on The NGC so you can still play them on the Wii (With a NGC controller ofc) or you could get the PSone versions and play on the PS2 The only one you cant get is 5 and some of those spin off games like outbreak
I played it a bit the other night got to the end of the first chapter, and so far I am liking this game alot. I spent some time in the training area just getting used to the controls. I could have played a few more hours but I remembered I had work in the morning. Lol. I have to say the Wii controls make it alot of fun. I loved the part where I shot the dynamite out of the villagers hand and shooting the bear traps in the grass. Oh man going to have to go play that game now.

Glad you like it so far. The first time I stepped in a bear trap it about scared me to death I didn't even see it all, I was creeping along and BAM Leon started screaming haha.

Lol the only reason I saw it was I just happened to move the Wii remote and saw something in the grass and target changed color. I thought it was a creature at first that was going to jump out and I figured Id get the drop on it and shoot it first. Than I saw that it was a bear trap lol.

Going back to the RE1 remake, I think the main advantage of the GCN version is that there is a cheat (in Jill mode I think) that allows for unlimited ammo on one of the weapons. That cheat was removed for the Wii version, which mostly just added more control options, none of which are better than the GameCube controller (I heard some people like the CC option, though).
