@Donatello: With a 2D platformer, you have to design the game specifically with what the player can see at any given time in mind. As a result, the options for NSMBW were either support widecreen and letterbox for "standard" TV's (in quotes because widescreen is actually the standard now, and "standard" is therefore a misnomer; they should really be called "narrowscreen" now), or support "standard" and block vertically on widescreen TV's like they did for Mario Party 8. I, for one, applaud Nintendo's decision to go with the widescreen support.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P
I've never played the DS one, but the topic is faulty. The title is NSMB WII , because without Wii it's the DS title. so nintendo didn't pretend that this is a "different" game. It's just remade for the wii and apparently most people agree that it's great.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
Ummm the reason they called it "NEW Super Mario Bros." is because it's a new super mario brothers as in a 2009 release. The whole point of the game is that the gameplay is not original. If it were a completely different game it would have been Super Mario Bros 4 or Super Mario World 3: Yoshi's Missing Beard.
