And did you enjoy The Conduit? I bet you had a mediocre to decent time with it. but to each their own.
Actually? I had a lot of fun with it, thank you. But what do I know, I'm just a sucker.
Believe it or not, I actually put over 120 hours into The Conduit and it happens to be one of my favorite games this gen. I also had more fun/laughs/memories with The Conduit prior to other sci-fi FPSs like Halo 3.
But what do I know, I`m just a sucker.

No, implies the 'same people' saying (A) they're small and (B) at least they're trying will always use A and B no matter what games come out in the future.
If the rest of their projects also turn out to be disappointing (to just the overwhelming majority of course) I don't see people saying, "Well... maybe them just 'trying' isn't good enough any more".
Even though I have seen one person change their tune so it's not completely out of the question!
As for individually enjoying one of their games, that's great and all. The way I look at it is, there's always going to be at least a few people that like any game. And people often like games considered worse than games other people like and don't think anything of it. (Hey I like Bloons, take that Sean!)
I know I'm fine with people enjoying games us enlightened members have deemed a failure. lol
I don't really have much else to say about this topic other than.. Have you ever gone to a movie where you enjoyed it but had some issues with it. You walked out and couldn't really say it sucked because you enjoyed it and you'll most likely wish for a sequel but a much improved sequel. And this is a week after seeing an amazing movie like Dark Knight, you still think the movie was okay but nothing great, but still hope for a better sequel and don't regret seeing it. And then there's a movie like Sixth Sense where you thought it was awesome and then 4 movies later you've lost all hope in the directors ability to make a good movie. And you rent a straight to DVD movie and didn't mind it but don't really compare it to the big theater movies because you know it didn't have a big budget.
... I don't know why people treat games differently. Why gamers gave a "1 strike" opinion about gaming companies is beyond me. MMO players are the worst with this.
what a bunch of suckers honestly ;p jk But really what does it matter, games are all about fun, the experience. if you enjoyed it that's awesome. I'm just SAYING that the people who were dissapointed by it got sucked into the hype based on what HVS kept saying in their interviews ect.

This is pretty much my feeling. I enjoy The Conduit and I have issues with it, I can list a lot of things I don't like about it and I definitely wouldn't say HVS has a golden development record -- heck outside of companies that haven't been around long enough to make more than a couple of games I don't think any company is without a turkey to their name.
The desire to write off The Grinder so long before publication just baffles me. I don't care who the developer is or if their entire previous catalogue output has been trash, I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt that they can make a decent game.
@sean aaron HVS has enough turkeys for years worth of Thanksgiving dinners. When it comes to HVS I have only heard DECENT things regarding their preschool titles (Go Diego Go) and one cult classic (Hunter: The Reckoning). If you have better, more well received examples, I'm all ears.
And no, I haven't COMPLETELY written off The Grinder. I just wish this extra year was to make one version perfect, not to rush develop on other platforms.
IGN has reported that this game is no longer a FPS. It is now a top-down shooter (think Gauntlet) with 4 players all on the same screen and dual analog stick controls (for the 360 and PS3 versions at least, one stick move, other stick shoot). Thoughts? Interested, less interested, never was interested? All I have to say in regards to the development of this game is what the @&#$?
I am much less interested now, but that doesn't mean it can't be any good... Here's hoping it is downloadable

This is only confirmed for the 360 version. They don't know if the Wii or PS3 version will be the same, PS3 will probably be for sure but the Wii may still remain an FPS.
The 360 version looks a lot more like their old Hunters the Reckoning game.

I enjoyed the old Hunter the Reckoning games so that's somewhat promising.

I find it impossible to believe that the Wii version would go this route after they went and developed and demo'ed the game running on it, if this does turn out to be true I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. On the one hand I'm not the biggest FPS fan in the world, but on the other this did look like a potentially excellent entry in the genre - especially for the Wii. I also enjoy a game of Gauntlet; an online one with Wii Speak could be cool.
It does make me feel more confident about the game being better quality because it means they won't be taking up time attempting to port their game engine to 360/PS3 which really seemed a Herculean task even for a large publisher let alone a developer attempting to go the self-publishing route.
I wouldn't be surprised if Wii ended up as the only retail release in the end with the Sony/360 versions being downloadable. Hopefully GDC will reveal more information.
Having read the article in full this decision is being taken on PS3/360 because they see a glut of FPSes (hello, nice to see a developer recognising this is a problem when trying to sell a new IP: Sony take note of your crap MAG debut). No final decision has been made on the Wii, but given the lack of representation in the genre (other than war game, the conduit, red steel and metroid prime) I would be surprised if they didn't keep it an FPS.
I agree. Keeping it as an FPS for Wii would be a smart move. The last trailer seemed really nice and overall I like the ideas in this game. Especially the talk about local co-op. So I really hope this game will stay an FPS on the Wii. Especially considering how much potential The Conduit had. (For the record, I really enjoyed it. But I am sure they can do a whole lot better with a second try.)
Also, the already have Animales De La Muerte on the way for the Wii, which pretty much looks like a Gauntlet-style game. It would be weird for them to release two games of that type just after each other.
