I can see why they wouldn't want to make it an FPS on systems other than the Wii. The likes of Half Life, Bioshock, Halo and CoD have got that market sewn up so tight that there's little hope of a newcomer getting in there with anything that's less than stellar. Let's face it; The Conduit was only noteworthy because the former games weren't released on the Wii, or were heavily cut down for it. Even if The Grinder is ten times better than The Conduit it's still going to tank if it's being offered up for the 360 in much the same mould as the earlier game.
The video demos for the Grinder really surpassed the graphics in Conduit and just looked a lot more fun to play so hoping they will stick to fps.
Red Steel 2 is getting good feedback in all previews am hoping the new line of wii fps will now expand to include that 1:1 weapon handling somehow, which for the grinder I don't thing would be appropriate.
I don't like the way HVS were all over WM+ and what it could bring to games then seem like they are totally abandoning it.
I can't imagine this version would be a retail for PS3 and 360, it looks like a 15-20 dollar downloadable game.
I wouldn't get too worried, the Wii will probably remain an FPS. Kind of interesting too to be honest, I don't recall an IP that debuted as two different genres.
Dark Void. but if that's true, then it's great news. It means wii version is still exclusive. one of them a prequel. similar to dead space.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
Ugh, I hated the sound of the game when it first appeared and now it's a top down shooter? Well colour me unsurprisingly disappointed.
Have Very (Little) Sense have done it again - not that I blame their approach. The Conduit was without a doubt one of the worst FPS titles on record (I chucked about 12 hours 50/50 into it then chucked it in the bin) and The Grinder - which had a viable idea when it was first demoed - is now years too late. So HVS make it top-down, make it look like a high-end downloadable game and have taken what was essentially Animales and re-skinned it. All in all a total waste of some very talented programmers.
I have no time for HVS anymore and feel the best thing they could do is carry on working on an engine that no-one's really interested in.

You haven't played very many FPS games, have you?

Its to maximize profits as an HD grinder FPS would outsell the wii version. This way most people get double the profits.
WAT!

Actually, it looks more like a game like Hunter: The Reckoning on the Xbox, and as such, it's fully worth the retail price. That game was awesome.
I think I understand what HVS' problem is--they're lacking creativity. These guys clearly are talented developers from a technological standpoint--they can really push a system to its limits. But they need some creative minds in there if they really want to succeed. The Conduit was a very pretty, well polished uninspired shooter, and The Grinder looks to be the same (not to mention that weird gladiator game).

You just now figured that out with all the ranting that's been going on?
Seriously though. I'm kinda into the top-down thing. It seems like it may be a bit more difficult to screw up. The voices and announcer sound great so far even if their just place-holders.
Another thing is that Grinder may not be coming to Wii at all and their putting all of their efforts on Conduit 2. Source: Gonintendo

I don't have a problem with top-down action games at all. But I do think that HVS has the ability to legitimize FPS games on Wii, and if they don't do it who will? They can do it on the 360 and PS3 if they want--I don't think it's going to sell, but it's an interesting idea--however, I'd really like to see HVS see this project through as they originally intended for the Wii. Because frankly, the Wii needs this.

To me it just looks like those really cheap flash games you can play on the pc, great presentation but gameplay is just shoot, shoot and shoot. Gauntlet type games from a different perspective just don't excite me anymore I find them way to repetive to enjoy.
Even though fps is basically just shoot, shoot and shoot I find them much more enjoyable and the grinder fps demos they did on the wii look so much better than the conduit. Disappointed.
Well that trailer made me actually have faith in the game again. It is certainly no co-op style Wii-friendly Left for Dead and I am a bit disappointed about that.
However, it IS very Diablo2/3 ish (or even Alien Syndrome to an extent) and tbh, I'm kind of excited about it as I love the Diablo series of games by Blizzard. That trailer mentions some rpg-like elements too. Here are some of my "hopes": 1. There are unique skills that are available to each of the four characters that you can "level up". 2. There is a large variety of equipment (armor, weapons, item) that you can save in your inventory and "upgrade". 3. Your character is "saved" which allows you to carry the same person, items, skills, etc from multiplayer game to single player and back to another multiplayer. (have any of these things been addressed yet and I missed it?)
edit: This would be a pretty neat game for DLC too that would add things like additional characters, items, enemies, and small "vehicles" like mech-type power armors, etc. Oh gosh...the possiblilities. I wish Nintendo supported DLC like that. I'd much rather play this game on the Wii with a similiar control scheme like Alien Syndrome.
