Anyway, that just doesn't look like censorship to me.

Do you actually believe that or just feel the need to deny the obvious?

Really the big question comes down to FE Fates in Europe. What was the purpose of releasing 3 months later?

What was the purpose of releasing Shin Megami Tensei IV 1+ year later? I know that's an Atlus game and all, but really, same idea of Europe being second dish. The most you can pin it down to is the multi-language thing - other than that there's not going to be any less censorship than there was in US.

@NinjaWaddleDee: What's your point exactly? It'd help if you at least tried to make some. Hard to have a discussion otherwise. I can't even tell if you're referring to Fates or this Atlus game with your "Unless you're a hardcore Nintendo fan, how do you even KNOW about this game in the first place?". Because, and correct me if I'm wrong, but that statement can be constructed for pretty much any series that isn't mainstream or heavily advertised on prime time TV. For example:
"Persona 5 getting its PS3 version cancelled (as a new rumour suggests)? What's the point of cancelling a version of a game no one is going to buy anyway? Unless you're a hardcore Persona fan, how do you even KNOW about this game in the first place?"
Change the game title with any other JRPG apart from Final Fantasy and that still makes sense. Because it's isn't anything worth pointing out in the first place.

I would like to remind folks that Atlus is handling localization of this game, not Nintendo. And they've got a pretty solid track record.

But even if it was Nintendo, half this game is scantily clad outfits. They'd have to do some major overhauls or not even bother trying.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

@JaxonH
Nintendaan on Twitter has mentioned that it has gotten a PEGI 12 rating for Europe which will probably mean one specific part will be changed in some way.
I do personally think the part was rather distasteful though.
It is kind of spoilers relating to a specific chapter though. This tweet pretty much sums it up.

That said, I do think it may be the only part with any or at least very many changes to it. Overall I enjoyed the game and didn't have many issues with it. There may be some slight costume changes like Tsubasa's idol outfit, but I can't see much else changed aside from that.

Is anyone interested in the gameplay/plot or just is it what bits of pixel flesh you may or may not be able to see?

People missing the point of the issue, how utterly rare. I must have gone like a whole day without seeing it happen.

1) Sexuality has it's place in human experience,

2) But you really don't need to be looking at scantily-clad middle schoolers,

3) And we shouldn't be making such a big deal out of sexuality in the first place.

1) The censorship doesn't relate to sexuality.

2) Anime characters aren't middle-schoolers, they're imaginary doodles. You don't get to tell me or anyone else other than your children what they need to look at. And, frankly, the characters being censored in this game and in several others are adults (at least in the localized version, as they're being aged up a year or two to 18), so your point falls flat anyway.

3) People aren't upset about sexuality. They're upset about Nintendo imposing it's prudish standards on us through unnecessary censorship.

I've been hearing a few bits of information about censorship instances in regards to this game, but I'm unsure which bits of information I've been hearing is confirmed or not. In the case that this game has also had elements of it censored, like quite a few other Nintendo related games as of late, then I feel disappointed.

It won't stop me from getting the game, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE has been my most anticipated game since the start of this year, and I feel the positives of supporting this game outweigh the connected negative of purchasing a product that is embroiled in these recent censorship situations. At the same time, as someone whose not been a fan of the unnecessary censorship that has been taking place within video games as of late, it is rather displeasing.

Putting those concerns aside for the moment, I've avoided spoilers for the most part, but have decided to watch some of the recent coverage of the game on GameXplain's channel. The more I see of this game, the more I love it; visually stunning to me and the gameplay is something I've been eagerly wanting on the Wii U. Really looking forward to when this game comes out in June, and I hope I'll be able to clear a good chunk of my backlog in time to play it as it comes out. I've only got Star Fox Guard to play... and Star Fox Zero, Lost Reavers, Pokkén Tournament (I want to keep in practise), Bravely Second, Quantum Break, Arlan: The Warriors of Legend, and Gravity Rush Remastered. Oh, and Kirby Planet Robobot comes out in the same month.

Would it be suitable for a 13 year old? If not, then it won't be rated T for Teen, and thus get a Mature rating. They are trying to avoid a Mature rating.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I really think there needs to be a rating that splits Teen into two groups. Maybe just expand E 10+ up to 14, then Teen (or a new name) would be 15 to 17, and then mature would be 18+.

EDIT: Adult-Only would still be 18+ but the difference would be Mature titles could be sold to children with parent's premission, while AO games would only be sold to adults (I know it wouldn't stop many people but most stores won't stock AO games meaning it wouldn't really be a problem, except digitally... but even then probably not much of a problem. I don't even know what the AO market looks like and I don't want to find out lol.

@DefHalan: There's already something like that in the UK. You have:
3+
7+
12+
16+
18+

Grumblevolcano

DefHalan

@Grumblevolcano: Not in the US, and most rating decisions are probably made for the US because of that. It does lead to sometimes unnecessary censorship for the UK since it could probably get a 16+ rating.

is the UK 18+ more equal to US Mature or US Adult Only rating? because stores in the US won't stock any game rated AO.

Octane

@DefHalan: I think PEGI 18 compares better to ESRB's Mature rating then, because PEGI 18 rated games can be bought in regular stores just like any other game.

Octane

DefHalan

@Octane: Yeah. US needs to get a better rating system then lol.

Didn't they mention they were unifying the rating system a bit back for all of the west?

@Octane: Yeah, a good example is that both GTA V and Bayonetta 2 are Mature in the US but in the UK GTA V is 18+ meanwhile Bayonetta 2 is 16+. So basically there's like lower and upper tiers for Mature.
