Could it be that people these days are just really whiny? They whine about flags, they whine about statues and now they're whining about TLOU2. I haven't even played it yet but from what I've seen and heard of the game it looks fantastic! I may question the plot at some points and certain scenes that really should have been left out or possibly even have been totally unnecessary but i imagine I'll still have a good time. This over reacting and mass hysteria over every little thing sickens me.

@Zeldafan79 And what is bad about 6 or 7 out of 10? Graphics and animations does NOT make a game 10/10.

Todays culture is ALL about positivity even if something is crap. That is what is sickening. There are games that get praise and they deserve it so it is not like everything is about negativity.

Ralizah

I genuinely have no issue with people playing something and expressing their disappointment in a reasonable way. All voices deserve to be heard if they have valid concerns, and no game deserves to be protected from low scores.

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

And yet there are an awful lot of people that have an opinion of the game without even having played it.

@Zuljaras

Never said it deserves a 10 but these people acting like it's an abomination is what bothers me. Sure alot of the fans of the first game are going to feel like this one was a letdown. One reason possibly being that the new and exciting thing that the first one had going for it is gone. This happens with alot of sequels, movies and games. Another being maybe they just liked Ellie better when she was a sassy kid with a foul mouth. That's not nearly as cool when an adult does it.

Lastly where did you get this idea about today's culture being about positivity? Did i miss something here?
The reaction to this game says otherwise. Fans are dumping all over it but all the major review sites are giving 9's and 10's left and right. Way to confuse people! I bet if there was no content in this game of a certain nature it would be good ratings all around.

@Octane So do I really have to give ND 60$, after I have watched the whole story in videos, in order to say I do not like it? As I said the graphics are perfect. The story is mediocre and many people did not like it!

Even if I play the game I will still KNOW the story the same way. I mean come on!

@Zeldafan79 I meant that nowadays most people frown upon the negative criticism as it is not welcome. People are dumping on TLOU2 because of the story, because of forced to play as characters that they do not even like.

And at the end just emptiness and well ... nothing.

Also "major review sites are giving 9's and 10's left and right." - to trust major sites is like to trust politicians

Story and gameplay are two things some people dislike about The Last of Us I and II @Dezzy. I didn't hate the story of I, Left Behind or II but I didn't love it either and the motion capture and voice acting are impressive for a video game but the gameplay doesn't cut it and while the graphics are great there are better graphics elsewhere. That's probably why some people don't think these games are so good. The people that really love them seem to be touched by the story or are big Sony fans. I don't think that they deserve the 10/10 scores but obviously 0/0 scores are nonsense.

@Octane I didn't like The Last of Us because of the gameplay, that alone means that the games don't deserve a high score in my opinion and not even considering the story, graphics or sound. This is another overrated game and most of all...

@Ralizah I absolutely agree with your last comment.

@Zuljaras I personally don't form opinions on games I haven't played yet. First impressions are fine, but I wouldn't dare to score a game like that, because watching a game and playing a game simply isn't the same.

Additionally, I personally think that whilst story can enhance a game, I wouldn't knock ff 4 points if the story is bad for example. I personally wouldn't contribute half the score to story, because there's so much more than that. I haven't finished the game yet, but even if the story doesn't end up resonating with me, I can't see myself scoring it any lower than an 8, because gameplay and everything else up until now has been great.

@BlueOcean I haven't heard many people say they dislike the gameplay of TLOU2. It's essentially the first game on steroids plus more. What don't you like about the gameplay in the first game?

I mean... do I need to say anything here?

@Octane I didn't enjoy any element of the gameplay except perhaps the crafting mechanics. The part that I hated the most was when you're inside a building trying to hide from enemies. It's not that I hate stealth sections but I think that the stealth sections of The Last of Us are rubbish. The gameplay is very rough and that applies to the Uncharted games as well, although 4 and The Lost Legacy are more polished but still limited and frustrating. They're just not good games but impressive interactive experiences.

@BlueOcean Maybe third person shooters aren't your thing. That's fine though, everyone has their own preferences!

In my mind, it's usually 1/3rd for story, 1/3rd for gameplay and 1/3rd for immersion (which includes graphical quality as well as environmental design, character designs and music).

Obviously that changes depending on the genre though. If it's not trying to do story, like most Mario games, then the 1/3rd for story gets divided into the other parts.

@Octane No, I like the third-person shooter genre. As I said, it's the rough gameplay what I didn't like. Nothing to do with the genre. I also love survival horror as everyone knows and I'm a big Resident Evil fan.

@Dezzy That means a game with awful gameplay can still be a 6.5. It's an interesting way of looking at it, but I personally would rate gameplay higher. Maybe like 5 points for gameplay; 2 for story; 1 for graphics, 1 for music, and the last point depends on whether I got paid enough by the company to like them...

@Octane

Yeah a really good walking simulator type game could get a 7/10 definitely.

To The Moon is a good example. I'd maybe even give that an 8/10. It gets a bit tricky though because a lack of gameplay isn't really the same thing as trying to have gameplay but failing at it being fun.

The first example I can think of where I loved a game even though its gameplay was really poorly made, is maybe Mass Effect 1. That had such clunky and unpolished gameplay that felt like it'd been made by a low budget indie studio. But everything else about it was brilliant.

@Dezzy I wouldn't include walking simulators. In the end it's all about the experience. Do you enjoy it? Awesome. Doesn't matter if it was Tetris, Mario or a walking sim.

Having a specific system based on "this thing needs to make up X amount of the score" is a really stupid idea. I learned this when I tried to rate Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, one of my favorite GCN games, that has no real story, using a criteria where 20% of the score is based on story. That was when I was 14 years old btw.

I can only imagine using a rating system I realized didn't work when I was 14 years old.

Btw, when Sony will reveal the official PS5 game box design ?
There were some games has been announced for PS5 but still didn't have their official cover.
I wonder what color scheme for PS5 and how is the design of banner strip ?
I prefer the box size same as PS4 with solid White color (Not transparent like PS3) and Black & White color scheme for banner strip on the Top.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@Anti-Matter Change the 4 for a 5 and... voilĂ !
