@NintendoByNature
As much as i enjoyed DOS during it's release back on the DSLite, i doubt I'll ever dive back into it with this collection. Haven't played either POR or OOE, but I know good and well that at this point in the game i won't be able to get into either of them. SOTN & DOS were enough for me, I'm buying this collection strictly for that lousy Haunted Castle Remaster.
Missed opportunity though not throwing in Adventure: ReBirth! I'm a much bigger fan of traditional Castlevania games like Rondo of Blood(My favourite), SCIV, Castlevania, III: Dracula's Curse & Bloodlines, the two GB games, plus those semi spiritual 8-bit sequels Curse of the Moon 1&2 which hold up better than 8-bit Vania IMO.
@NintendoByNature DoS is definitely in the top 5 of my favorite Castlevania games, heck it is what got me to buy a DS in the first place years ago.
@NeonMullet PoR is my favorite of the DS Castlevania's as much as I like DoS it played to similar to SoTN still as I said above it's still one of my favorite Castlevania games. I really enjoyed the dual hero playstyle they used in PoR having to switch between the two characters to solve puzzles and such pretty neat idea. Also the fact that PoR is a direct sequel to Castlevania Bloodlines which is my favorite Classicvania is awesome story wise as well.

@NeonMullet I'm sure it'll be worth the 20 spot just for the rehash of haunted castle. It looks absolutely amazing based on what I've seen, but I haven't fired it up yet. I think the collection is on sale right now actually. @Tasuki good to hear. Right now I'm actually stuck and not sure where to go. Might have to look a few things up.
@Tasuki yes, I've played all the nes, snes, Genesis, GBA games, but never got to these ds games yet. I was able to figure out where to go thankfully and took down a few more bosses in tonight's playthrough.
@Tasuki so far, it's shaping up to be one of the better metroidvania castlevania games. I played a little bit of symphony on xbox and I couldn't get into it. Maybe it was being only tethered to the TV, but I'm fully engaged in this moreso than I was with symphony. I'm actually really excited to check out the rest of the games in the collection, especially haunted castle revisited.
@Tasuki
i remember back during POR's release, my buddy brought it over with his DSLite and i dinked around with it for 10-15 minutes and overall I was pretty impressed with it visually. I liked it's vibe, even more than DOS. DOS looked like a glossier 2000's vampire anime that drew a bit of inspiration from SOTN. Where as POR, at least in the beginning of the game felt and looked more historical and somewhat akin to some of the stages seen in past traditional Castlevania games. It was pretty cool! I'll take your advice and give it a shot at some point. It's just I really have to be in the mood for these types of games.
How's OOE BTW? The only real nit pick that I remember hearing during the days of IGN(before it gradually went to koopa poop after the Wii era) was that the environments looked a bit too samey, repetitious and at times kind of failed at differentiating themselves from one another. Maybe they rushed it, i don't know. It also seems to have a more gothic darker feel than POR too.
I also have the Castlevania GBA collection. Hated both of what i played of Harmony of Dissonance & Circle of the Moon. Dracula X is also nowhere near as good as Rondo, so why even bother even if it supposedly offers more of a challenge and switches things up along the way? Although, had i not already finished DOS, i think Aria of Sorrow would of been worth jumping into.
@NeonMullet Honestly I never played OoE. When it came out I was burnt on Metroidvania formula so I passed on it. Then years later when I wanted to play it it was so expensive on the aftermarket that I passed on it again. I have heard good things about it and look forward to playing it here soon.

@Tasuki
I was burnt out on Metroidvania the moment i finished up DOS back during the tail end of the 2000's.
Oh well, at least OOE is now perfectly affordable with this collection. Wonder if there's any noticeable input lag/delay. I guess if you haven't experienced the real thing, or have it, then there's no reference for comparison which might be for the better!
I also tried out Bloodstained on the PS5, and couldn't get it into that one. It just didn't feel organic, everything felt very artifiical and robotic, in terms of character animations and design. Just wasn't for me.
Now Curse of the Moon 1&2? Hell yes! I'd take those two over the original Castlevania I and III: Dracula's curse.
@NeonMullet Yeah I tried Bloodstained back on Xbox when it was on Gamepass and I don't know, while the heart was there the soul wasn't. It wasn't a bad game mind you but it just felt like I was playing a wannabe Castlevania game. I just couldn't get into it was all.
I have yet to try the 8bit ones perhaps one of these days I will. I just have such a huge backlog.
