@Ralizah I mean...minus the somewhat dumbed down early combat and huge nerfing of the positioning elements...its fine.

Guess it doesnt help I run a website writing about and reviewing games, or make games, or do YouTube work, ans have mental illnesses that shut me down.
Or maybe I do legitimately enjoy the structure of X more and 1 and 2 arent for me.
I dont know. Maybe my love for X is partially based on escapism at it came at a rough time in my life.

@YummyHappyPills Well, I definitely get loving a game and then not digging a subsequent game in the series for no particular reason. I do hope you end up enjoying if/when you play more, though!
Just made it to Dawnview Grotto. Man... that was a pretty hidden place. I started to think I was going the wrong way because the enemies were so powerful and I couldn't make it past them. I finally had to swap Pyra and use my Ikaruga HLR blade, and even then I just barely skated by. I was killed but revived and Nia was killed and I revived her... I'm thinking I might be under leveled for where I'm at in the story. I'm Level 16, and the enemies were like 15, 14, 13 and 12. But fighting 4 of them at once was just too much.
Can anyone tell me. I'm Level 16 and just got the Diamond stuff from Dawnview Grotto. Am I under leveled? Did anyone else have a heckuva time beating those tribal birds with bamboo sticks?

That would be killer. And not just for me but I imagine a lot of people here as well. Let me see if they've updated the game list first though. Hate for you to do all that work if somebody else has already done it.

Oh my goodness, those soldiers. I generally love the back-and-forth during the battles but I thought to myself, really? When they were localizing this or developing this they thought that was OK? Maybe tone it down so they only speak 25% as much as they currently do, so you'd hear it 75% less. Idk. It's OK when it's just one soldier but when there's a group of them, oh dear.
This is an incredible piece on the history of Monolith Soft. From the early days of Takahashi and co.'s work on Chrono Trigger to his debut game Xenogears with Squaresoft, Xenosaga with Namco, to games like Soma Bringer and Baten Kaitos after signing with Nintendo, to Xenoblade Chronicles on Nintendo Wii, which Iwata allowed to use the "Xeno" prefix out of respect for Takahashi's earlier work. And of course, their later work in the Xenoblade series on Wii U and now Switch.
I thought you were trolling considering how much you said you looked forward to it, and loved it a few days ago... Weird. My love of the game is growing the more I play it.

And I know, every XC game is its own beast.
Each XC game though has thr same basic arts based combat. But on top of it each does something new. X had TP, soul voices, Overdrive and Skells as well as great use of positioning which was aided by the addition of enemy appendages.
XC2...you cant move and attack. Enemies turn fast making position based arts a pain. Its a lot slower. Its a lot more limited with only 3 arts. You kinda stand there and sponge hits. Thats not fun. The position based gameplay is borderline irrelevant.
The map is frustrating and even when viewing the full map, it wont actually tell you about NPCs until you get close enough.
I get it has a different focus from X in its more linear story. I get that each game does its own thing with the combat, but this is so damn slow and basic!
Its gone from my most hyoed game of the year to...I put more tjme into Sonic Forces before stopping.
XC2 isnt for me. And thats a damn shame as im sure its great. But this is an interation of the formula im not down for.
I can hope for an XCX2 right? Or maybe XC3's gameplay changes will be better.
The one thing I despise is the map and checkpoints, they are hideous. Numerous times I haven’t been able to figure out how to get to a checkpoint. I know you can bring up the fast travel map, but I don’t understand why there isn’t a proper map I can scroll through and even see side quest locations. That is the only thing I don’t like, I love the rest of it. Sorry you aren’t enjoying it, can’t please everybody I suppose, I’ve played over 30 hours already.
Just got my first rare blade from common crystal - Agate!
Don’t know anything about her yet and can’t wait to try her. That was a nice surprise after many boring regular Blades.
The game has some amazing environment and city design.
When not playing any 1080p games between Xeno 2 sessions the resolution matters begin to fade away and the amazing art shines through. The 30fps are ok for a game of that scale, and the dips in demanding areas aren't that bad. I'm pretty sure an update will patch some of the heavier slowdown.
I refrain to play this on handheld though (as I do with most games) especially when they look and sound much better from a good tv/audio set.
@YummyHappyPills: Give it more time. Combat starts slow, but gets much better when you have a full party and many different blades.

After getting further in the game, this is really as good as xeno games get and it's really reminding me of xenosaga with some of the themes and the similarities of kosmos and Pyra... this game is just..a dream come true.
When I go to work I want to play games. Even if it's not the best it could be, the fact I can play this game on the go and have it look far better than even the original did on the Wii (which is only made to look even better by being on a small screen)... I'll take it.
That's not to say I don't want to see some improvements, but when I'm playing games on the go, simply not looking as good as it could isn't enough to stop me from playing what is, right now, one of my favorite JRPG's of all time, and even at its worst it's certainly better than Xenoblade 3D, and I played that game on the go in its day. Heck I even played Persona 5 via remote play in 360p with half a second lag.

Same here. More I play more I’m in love with this piece of art. This game really sucked me in. I’m sure I’ll be playing Xenoblade far more then Zelda. There’s something special with this game really.
