@JoeDiddley Aside from DDS2, those games are all either recent releases or recent remasters/remakes, so, yeah, this is a pretty good RPG year. This gen has been pretty great for RPGs. The only reason the sixth gen might still have a leg up is because of the PS2's legendary line-up of RPGs. But, on the Nintendo front, the genre presence has never been stronger.
And don't feel bad. They're long games. Very, very long games. If I had any sense to me, I wouldn't start so many 100+ hour games before finishing others.
Etrian Odyssey, in particular, though, is utterly unique. Nexus might be the last title in the series I get (I don't see how it's supposed to have the same appeal without the mapping; it's the core gimmick of the series), but we've been spoiled with choice with this series, and I still have yet to touch either Untold 2 or Persona Q2.
So my 3DS will definitely be sticking around indefinitely.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Ralizah I agree with you there. Switch for me might win out one day because it has all the best Nintendo games, and the best PS3 games!
My list of half finished games is much shorter thankfully than the list I’ve not even started (half a dozen compared to 3 dozen). I usually see things through. But alas, Persona Q2 is also about 25 hours in.
My 3DS is also still getting a lot of use, less than last year though after I got a Vita at Christmas. I’m currently about 15 hours into SMT Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. I’m only on day 2 as I keep grinding battles and fusing, of course.

.
. —Falcom games are notorious for their delayed releases in the west. Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki, for example, never made it out in English. With the PlayStation 4 versions on the way, are there any plans to release those titles in the west? How about Ys IX: Monstrum Nox?
Kondo: “I very much regret that we were unable to release Zero and Ao [in the west]. I think that releasing on PlayStation 4 will lead to an opportunity to release these games in North America and Europe. As for Ys IX, preparations are currently underway for release [in the west].”

I remember you expressing interest in the localization of Ys IX. I bet NIS held back announcing it until they finalized the Switch port, so that it wouldn't be another Ys VIII situation where it releases way later than the other versions.
@JoeDiddley Oh wow, you just bought a Vita? I didn't know people still bought those, considering pretty much every worthwhile exclusive on them was ported off to other devices.
Man. So many good games in the sale. I’ve bolded the ones I feel every Switch gamer should have in their collection. That’s not to say I don’t absolutely love some of the other games (like Darksiders, Lumines, Monkey Ball, etc) but the ones in bold are absolute must-play gems
Someone could take $100 and just go nuts with these prices. Valkyria Chronicles Valkyria Chronicles 4
Darksiders Warmastered
Darksiders 2 Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Metro 2033
Metro Last Light
Assassins Creed III Assassins Creed Rebel Collection
South Park Stick of Truth
South Park Fractured But Whole
Lumines Remastered
Bloodstained
BlazBlue (less than $5!!) Unravel two
Super Monkey Ball Steamworld Dig 2 Trials Rising
Red Faction ReMarstered
StarLink Digital Deluxe (all ships/pilots permanent access)
Atelier Ryza
Yooka Laylee Impossible Lair
It’s a feeding frenzy out there. Dig in!
@Ralizah
Ya I hope so. But at least if there is a wait, we can still have confidence it’s coming.
@Grumblevolcano I think they'll bump the price next time they add another console. And honestly, if they added N64 games, I'd be totally fine with that. I've been saying for a while they should add different tiered options and N64, Game Boy, GBA and Gamecube to the service then.
Base service 25 dollars a year with support for two consoles, +5 dollars for each additional console. Or 40 a year for everything.

Sucks not being able to buy physical games due to the quarantine. I promise myself I wouldn't go Digital with my Switch but I'm out of games to play so sorry past me
@MuhBael, would you not be able to have games delivered?
I managed to get Animal Crossing & a few movies delivered around the time all the Stay at Home orders were going into effect (I just made sure to sanitize them and let them sit for a day or more before taking them out of their shrinkwrap).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

There’s nothing wrong with digital. Gotta embrace it at some point anyways, and I found the sooner you do the better you’ll feel. The minute I stopped writing off digital is the minute I experienced true freedom. All that worrying about physical releases and supplementary downloads and patches and expansions... all those worries and frustrations just fall by the wayside. It’s such a wonderful, liberating feeling. As is the convenience of having your full library with you at all times, accessible without even getting out of your chair.
I found I play more different games, and I play those games more often, now that I can start a game the minute I feel an impulse of wanting to play it. No more getting up and digging around on my shelf to find the case. Nope. Just reach over and grab the controller and start playing. That has made a huge difference, and I notice I just play more games now. Even having to get up every time to play a different game, that was a barrier that would sometimes cause me to just say eh, I’ll just watch TV.
Food for thought.

I've gone 95% digital with the Switch, and despite missing the shelves of CiB games, I think the convenience of it is worthwhile.
Now, don't get me wrong: I'll still sometimes buy physical when it's something I really love. I bought the 3DS version of Corpse Party physical for $50 despite it going for $15 digitally in sales. I'm opting for the physical Deluxe Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake. I'll probably also grab physical AND digital copies of that new Shantae game.
But, in general, I like having almost my entire collection in one format. And I like the way digital purchases push attention away from the fetishizing of physical game collecting and toward the quality of the software itself, which is what is truly important.
@JaxonH I think part of the problem for going full digital is internet speeds. As I have discovered with Xbox Game Pass, my internet is too slow to download games. It takes well over a day sometimes. It’s partly why I don’t do online gaming.

Yes Physical and Digital discussion again!!! This is my "extremely valuable" input on the matter!
I am always physical on everything with some minor exceptions.
Exclusive games that I can't say NO to like the Castlevania Collection on the Switch. The only console that I love digital is the PSP. As much as I love physical media that grinding UMD noise is horrendous.
For the Switch is physical or nothing Those half-physical DRM keys should be burned.
Xenoblade Chronicles DE I'm getting the collector's edition for. Other games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, I actually manged to snag on Amazon for cheaper than $60 due to some weird coupon so that was a thing.
Otherwise I flipflop between physical or digital depending on my mood, though within these times I'm far more likely to go digital over physical for obvious reasons.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
@FragRed
That's a fair reason I tend to overlook. I was more addressing those who reject it due to ideology, as I once did.
Not those who simply have preference and tend to choose one over the other when given a choice, but the "absolute, swear-by-my-life it'll never happen, I'd rather be tarred and feathered than own an evil digital game" type.

My preference is to get a physical copy of a game. It’s usually cheaper and I’m still on my 200gb memory card so even some of the game being on the disk helps.
My first choices to go digital when there was the option was on 3DS with Smash and Animal Crossing as I knew I’d come back to them a lot, and I kind of regretted them not being with the others in my collection.
I also like that I can take a risk on a game that’s out of my comfort zone knowing I can trade it. Buyers remorse occasionally frustrates me when it’s a download and I can’t get money back or give it to a friend.
So far though I’ve never waited for the physical version if it’s a game I really want and it’s available digitally first. And I’ve not succumb to the temptation yet of buying the box for a game I already have digitally - that day will come though I’m sure.
