Managed to stumble upon a post of mine from 2019 in which I gave my wish list for future Switch games.
6th / 7th / 8th generation games that I've not got around to playing yet, but would love to see on the Switch
Yakuza series, Assassins Creed series, Mass Effect series, Bioshock series, Grand Theft Auto 5, Persona 4/5, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Metroid Prime Trilogy, more modern fighters (e.g. SFV, Tekken 7, Soul Calibur VI), Pikmin series, Kingdom Hearts 1+2+2.8 365 Birth by Whatever these Games are called Final Remix.
Games that I've already played and would like to play again on the Switch
All 3D Marios (especially Sunshine), all 3D Zeldas (especially Wind Waker), all 3D Sonic games (especially Generations and, yes, including Sonic 06), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (despite having already beaten it 100%...I would do that again, and again...), Beyond Good and Evil, Paper Mario TTYD, Tales of Symphonia, Final Fantasy VIII, Xenoblade Chronicles, Kid Icarus Uprising...(this could go on a while)
Series that I'd like to see have a sequel on the Switch
Kid Icarus, Tales of, any dormant Sega franchise...
Pretty good going, no? By 2026 we've got the vast majority of these in some form or another. It's pretty incredible.
This isn't even a diss against Switch 2, but it is funny that I'm so far interested in 5 games this year, and 3 of them are on Switch 1. And one of the other two isn't confirmed for any Nintendo system.
I do hope the new Yoshi and Mario Tennis games are great, I love Yoshi's Island and Mario Tennis 64 so I'd love to see an actual modern game that lives up to them in terms of level design and content, respectively, for example. But they've not had the best track record so its hard to get too excited until they release.
Nintendo could've potentially put out a game on Switch 2 that was a deal breaker for me waiting to buy one (even with any issues I have with it, Prime 4 could've been that game if it was exclusive, especially releasing so close to a new Hyrule Warriors and Kirby Air Riders). But they haven't yet, so uh, thanks Nintendo for not tempting me too much. Again, that might seem harsher than I mean it, it is good for me that Nintendo hasn't put out either the handful of their biggest games or the "well we better buy this or it will disappear forever maybe" niche games I love. Me not being a diehard Mario Kart fan and Kirby Air Riders being a one and done is good luck on my part of me not getting another console when I still have Switch games I actively want to play on the tv, it would be annoying to switch (heh) back and forth between them, I don't need that.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
Bethesda Softworks (3) - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Capcom (3) - Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflections
Bandai Namco (3) - Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters
Square Enix (3) - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo
2K (2) - WWE 2K26, PGA Tour 2K25
Konami (2) - Super Bomberman Collection, eFootball Kick-Off!
So unless I miscounted, looks like Bethesda, Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix got the most showcase for February 2026's Partner Direct, unless you count Konami's Japan-exclusive Power Pros and Goemon releases, in which case they'd have 4.
