@Dezzy played the fan translation years about 18-20 years ago. It’s a gorgeous game (much nicer graphically than SoM) and the storyline is nicely complex with interweaving threads. The battle system feels more fully formed than SoM.
It’s still a slightly odd game to play though. It often feels like you’re being railroaded through linear corridors with lots of doors branching off that are locked (due to the way the games multi-leaving structure works).
All in all it’s a good game you’d probably enjoy playing. I just think that other games have done similar things better so it’s somewhere down the pile of games you need to have played in 2020.
Nintendo's 2020 hasn't started for me yet. That comes in... three days on 3/March.
But it will be a great 2020 just from New Horizons alone. But there's also Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, so it will be a great one. I'm hoping 2020 will offer up a few surprises, which I hope will be announced sometime in this coming month.
First half of 2020 is shaping up to be pretty disappointing for me on Switch. I've definitely been gaming more on my PC lately.
But that's fine. I don't expect any console to constantly give me what I want. I'll just finish Impossible Lair and Dark Souls leisurely over the next few months. Only thing I'm considering purchasing in the next few months for Switch is the Mana game.
I'm sure Nintendo will eventually have a real Direct show some stuff for summer/fall that will interest me.
@DannyBoi As Anti-Matter said, that date will be the third anniversary of the Switch, also marking the start of the fourth year. For me, that year would be labeled as 2020.
@DarkRula Nintendo won't say anything on the 3rd. Maybe it's the Switch's third anniversary. That's it. Being quiet seems to be Nintendo's theme this year.
@DannyBoi Yes... but it was in reference to me saying 2020 for the Switch hasn't started for me yet. I'm under no illusion that Nintendo will reference the anniversary.
Metro Redux
A pair of games that should be a strong consideration for anyone looking for a good Switch game to play.
The ports are excellent. Top of the line all the way- these are the types of games that really make the Switch as a handheld feel next gen. Id put it on par with Assassin’s Creed Rebel Collection and Alien Isolation in terms of how good it looks (games that originated on 7th gen platforms really are the best fit for Switch).
And the games are really fun when you have gyro aiming. I played a bit of these games years ago when they released on PS4, but the aiming felt stiff. I never did like shooters because it’s just too hard to aim with the right analog stick without relying on crazy aggressive aim assist which makes you feel like you’re not really playing the game at all. You’re letting the computer calculate your shots for you. But with Gyro it’s 100% authentic aiming based on your skill level. And that changes everything.
My initial impressions of these games on Switch are very good.
I’ll probably bounce between Witcher 3 on the TV via PC and Metro 2033 on Switch Lite this weekend.

Man... must feel nice getting a lump sum to splurge with. Haven’t done that in some time. I got $2500 back this year, which isn’t bad filing single without kids, but it all went to paying off debt. Goal is to be completely debt-free by the end of the year, then following my new 5 year plan to race to a lofty goal of a quarter million dollar net worth (already got a decent start but it’s time to ramp it up) by age 40 (oh my gosh, I’m gonna be 40 in 5 years... wth), $100k of which will dollar cost average into dividend stocks. It’s not going to be easy and it pretty much guarantees living cheap and saving every penny for 5 long years, but... it’s time to build wealth and invest. Enough blowing cash like crazy on everything my eyes desire. Im behind so many ppl my age because I wasted my life until almost 30. Time to make up some ground.
Really want to be able to live off dividends by the time I retire. How else does one fund their video game purchases when they’re not working 😁 (only half joking- it’s an expensive hobby).

@scubydo for sure. I'll probabaly use most of it to fix up the house. But part of me knows ill dip into it for switch games in the next few months. Heck might even get that tmnt arcade 1up cabinet!
@JaxonH@NintendoByNature oh yes! Paying off the debt and keeping it aside for emergencies is a must. My wife and I usually set aside a little bit for each of us to splurge with and to get the kids some stuff they need.

I couldn't work out what this part meant, but I reckon you must be sitting on a decent sums-worth of video games-related assets to set you well on your way already
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Retail stores are competing for the best price, whereas there is no competition on the eShop; it's essentially a monopoly run by the platform holder. They decide the price, and that's it.
