I was just coming to post about SMM2 patch. They fixed one of my biggest gripes, you can now use button controls and touch screen for designing simultaneously. I'll probably end up doing a bunch more designing... Early next year, too many games now.
Overwatch is looking immaculate on Switch. Rock solid framerate, sharp resolution... it just looks really good.
If Splatoon 2 players migrate over they’re gonna dominate with all those gyro aiming skills

@JaxonH For real. Having played Paladins on PC, Switch, and PS4, I can say with confidence after the Switch got gyro and crossplay, you could instantly tell if you were playing against gyro maniacs or Xbox players because the gap in accuracy was astounding. Very excited for some OW Switch action.
If both Mario and Luigi and Paper Mario are dead for various reasons, maybe this is the time for Nintendo to try a new kind of Mario RPG? Maybe Nintendo and SE can finally reconcile and do a remaster of Super Mario RPG and then a true sequel.

Is it still possible for Nintendo to buy AlphaDream? And even if they don't, Nintendo obviously owns the rights to Mario & Luigi so I'm sure they could delegate it to a different team if they wanted to. But still, that's sad news for AlphaDream, I hope everything works out ok for their employees.
As for the possibility of a new kind of Mario RPG, I think that's kind of what Mario + Rabbids was - a turn-based strategy RPG. I'd be happy to see another completely different Mario RPG as well though.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
Dope. I ceased playing Mary Skelter on Vita once I heard IF was including it with the sequel on Switch. Yet another Vita-to-Switch-port for the collection. I'm still hoping for a few more them to happen, the Danganronpa trilogy, the Zero Escape trilogy, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, etc.
@Heavyarms55 Koei Tecmo was a major role in Three Houses' development so it feels like Intelligent Systems has another game in development. Paper Mario's probably the most likely of Intelligent Systems' main IPs to be next:
Nah, I'd wager the next thing from IS is gonna be a remake of an FE title, released in late 2020/early 2021. FE1 was remade as Shadow Dragon, FE3 as New Mystery of the Emblem (that we didn't get), and FE2 as Echoes, so I'd expect the next title to be a combined remake of FE4 + FE5 in one title, given that FE5 is basically what Torna was to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (albeit bigger). I honestly expect them never to make another Paper Mario or Advance Wars title, WarioWare usually comes at the end of the gen, and Pushmo, while possible, usually is done by a small team with little effect on other titles from what we've seen.
A very intriguing article from Virtuos explaining why publishers and developers should be bringing games to Switch, especially day and date with other releases.
@Dogorilla Or they could simply just restore Paper Mario to the way it was before.
Some years ago, they said that Mario & Luigi is the Mario RPG series, thus Paper Mario can't be RPG anymore. I found that very strange as Paper Mario came first, and thus M&L felt like a distinct handheld series. That's a tangent, though. My point is - what is stopping Paper Mario from becoming the RPG series again, now?
Of course, there's a lot of assumptions there - that M&L still can't be continued one way or another, and that making M&L the only Mario RPG series was actually a simple decision of only wanting one series to be RPG series and not something more complex.
Either way, the want for Paper Mario to return to form is a rather popular viewpoint. Nintendo ought to know that the demand is there.
I'm probably being too optimistic thinking that this might be the signal for Paper Mario to return to its old style, but I'll take hope for that wherever I can find it, because Paper Mario and TTYD were something really great.
@Harmonie Part of it, honestly, is simply that I don't think Nintendo likes making RPGs at all. They're big, require large teams, and cost a lot of money and time to product. Nintendo likes quick games to churn out with small teams. Monolith was purchased as kind of "the RPG company" and Zelda has slowly become RPG-ish, but I think that's really as far as they want to go with that.
Heck, even the original Super Mario RPG was really a Squaresoft game with Nintendo help.
Edit( And of course FE, though a TRPG is a little different in many ways.)
@link3710 Feels too early for more FE, we only just got Three Houses and the timing of Echoes being so close to Fates seemed like a result of Nintendo's plan to make the Switch both a Wii U and 3DS replacement.
But if another FE game for Switch comes that early (outside of Three Houses' story DLC being released like Torna), I could see 2020 having a Color Splash port.
I don't think M&L would be cancelled just because AlphaDream went under. Hudson Soft also went under and yet Mario Party games were still being made. Hell, I'm pretty sure those former Hudson Soft employees moved to NDcube.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
