I read through a few posts on this thread and some people are upset with your posts, that provokes them into picking fights with you. So next time, watch what you say, okay?
Seems real legit, the leaker has some credibility and concrete evidence, and it's not some "my uncle works at Nintendo"/ "friend works for Namco" spiel. Then again, we've had numerous fake images before, so I'm not 100% on board with this. But, this does seem to have favorable chances of being real.
As for the characters..
Shadow. Yeah, he's one of the most obvious new comers imo. His assist trophy got replaced by Knuckles and obviously fits as an echo for Sonic.
Banjo and Kazooie. Tough to believe this or not. It's definitely not out of the realm for MS to allow it. I'm still right down the middle on this though.
Issac. Ever since Sakurai posted that one tweet, I was a firm believer of Isaac making it.
Ken. Like Shadow, an obvious echo. The most credible leaker leaked this.
Mach Rider. This might be an odd one, but Sakurai does like adding retro characters(G&W, R.O.B., Duck Hunt). There was also news in 2016(I believe) that Sakurai bought an action figure that semi resembled Mach Rider for a game he was working on. We obviously know Ultimate was the game he was working on, so yeah.
Geno. Sakurai has wanted him in since Melee, and he's been a top requested character for years now. His Mii costume even got the splash art treatment in Smash 4. With Square on board, I think he's in.
Chrous Kids. Never played a RH game, so I don't know much about these guys. The series is popular enough and these guys seem to have decent popularity.
The one missing character that seem to be popular among the leakers is Inceniroar. Maybe he's DLC or the leakers got one wrong. There was a something about Minecraft content, but I'm still thinking that's just an assist where Steve pops out and starts swinging his pick axe.
and it's kinda odd that Shadow isn't confirmed as an AT yet. hopefully this is true. also, ken was leaked too, which could point to more of this being legit. im surprised that we may get B&K for Smash Bros. since Microsoft owns the game. as for Isaac and Chorus Kids, i don't know much about there games to be excited for there appearances in smash bros. but they could be fun to play as, Geno is a great addition to Smash Bros. as like Shadow not being an AT, it's odd that Geno isn't a Mii Costume. Kinda think of it, i don't think Mii Costumes were confirmed yet. Mach Raider is an interesting choice from Sakurai. i'll have to wait and see what his move sets are. But, sad that there no confirmed of Captain Rainbow appearing yet.

What if one of the leaked characters wasn't even announced at a Nintendo event? What if it was being saved for a certain other reveal - same as Isabelle with Animal Crossing?
@DarkRula I mean, it's possible we get a regular Nintendo Direct next month on top of a Smash Direct. As for a certain other character, if you mean that it would be revealed in an upcoming non-Nintendo related event, well that would be interesting. Not sure they'd reveal it there though cause I don't think most Nintendo fans would be tuning in to said event.
