@NEStalgia Thanks for the explanation! So... couldn't I just make a bogus account on my own Switch, buy games under my primary account and play with the bogus one, while someone else plays games with the primary elsewhere?

Eh, the one blemish on Super Metroid is that damn run button, and swapping weapons could be a bit more streamlined like in Zero Mission. (Fusion just replaced normal missiles when you got Super Missiles)

That run button makes running while holding down a Charge Beam and jumping extremely cramped. Also if you're moving and shooting at the same time.

@link3710i was only talking about a fan-made remake on a maker game, but I see NO problem with Nintendo making a graphically updated version using the upgraded capabilities of the Switch, don't change anything else, sure it was a great game, but graphically it would be even better, heck, the remake of Metroid 2 was worth it just for the graphics, even if they added NOTHING, just the looks was the seller for me, plus I get sick and tired of Nintendo holding back on classic greats

I maintain that the best idea would be a full-on remake in the Metroid Prime style. One that expands and remakes the game entirely. Because remaking Super Metroid as a 2d Metroid just means it will likely be either A. 95% the same outside of graphics and music or B. will be a worse game. Seems like a waste of time by that point, unless Nintendo has some crazy new innovations to actually improve 2D Metroid (the main additions they made to Samus Returns was a good start for that...).

@link3710 Technically yes, you could buy under your primary, play under the bogus, and then someone else could play under your primary's account on another machine that's not your primary. That would work. But of course then you'd have to give them your account details for your primary account (which would mean they could also just deactivate your console remotely and take your library as their primary...) Or you can have have physical access to their machine to set up your account for them. And then they'd have the right of way to lock you out of your own games So you can try to "cheat" it, but you better trust who you're cheating with.

But yeah risk of compromising your account to someone untrustworthy aside, what you describe would work. It only works for two consoles of course (and if you hand out your account to others, you can fight over who's playing by locking each other out by trying...) And if you hand out the password to your primary they can buy stuff on your credit card, too, so it's a pretty bad idea, but functionally, sure, it'll work

@link3710 Please tell that to Sqeenix' FFVII-R team. They did not get that memo.

@NEStalgia I mean FFVII is beloved for VASTLY different reasons Super Metroid, Mario World, and Zelda is. The combat barely anyone cared about compared to the story and characters, so giving that more cinematic flare isn't too bad.

That said, I don't get why they didn't stick to just ATB. Turn-based games still sell a lot, look at Pokemon.

@EvilLucario People still praise the Materia system. I personally strongly prefer it to the FFIV Jobs system they love to bring back with BD and Octopath. Combat was really good in 7. Turning it into and FFXV action game isn't going to do it many favors. But I do agree it's the story and characters that make it famous, though I fear they're going to vastly kill that too. The environments and the innocent yet heavy characters were what made it special. Trying to go realistic ruins the magic timelessness. Plus the story went off the rails at the first mention of JENOVA.

Edit: Crisis Core already kinda killed the magic.

@NEStalgia Yeah, Materia is cool (although I preferred Espers from VI myself), but honestly most of the love for Final Fantasy (and RPGs in general) come from the narrative, not necessarily the gameplay.

Yeah you're right, and I do love the narrative of RPGs as much as anyone else but if the gameplay isn't compelling the narrative doesn't matter, and similarly even a gawd-awful narrative can be ignored if the gameplay is fun. I managed to actually see Pulse in FFXIII despite the most horrendous, pointless narrative I've ever seen in a video game. But the battles were genuinely fun

Spirits Within was kind of fun. Advent Children....I really dislike the retconning of 7. Then there was the prequel movie that was bundled with XV Special Edition at launch...I have it but haven't watched it. And bought Royal before I even opened it.

@EvilLucario Spirits Within was good! It is just everybody expected cloud and co rather than the aspect of FF which is most of the stories are not related and set in fantastical worlds (sci fi still fits that). Besides Ming Na Wen is in that...makes it automatically good. (fight me)

I liked Spirits Within, and thought the CGI in it was very well done. I found it easy to forget the movie was entirely cgi instead of live action.

Preloaded Dark Souls.

It does not show a message saying cloud saves aren't supported like Splatoon 2. It looks identical to every other game that supports it. And given the fact Dead Cells and NBA 2K support backups, despite initial reports to the contrary, I can only conclude that Dark Souls also will support cloud saves.

How did Nintendo let all this bad information circulate without setting the record straight? Their impenetrable wall of no communication kills them sometimes when it's completely unnecessary.

Ooh! Check out the new World of Final Fantasy trailer! See, why can't NintendoLife do articles for stuff like this? That's what you come to a gaming site for. Instead we just get articles that turn into World War III in the comment sections. A little more focus on games would solve the problem, because the only people commenting would be about the actual game

FFVII's claim to fame is selling really well.

When do games unlock on the Switch (GMT)? I preloaded Little Dragons Cafe, which I expected to unlock at midnight. It didn't. I then woke up this morning, 8 hours later...and it's still not unlocked. When the hell do I get to play the game I paid for?

Is there an easy way to move games from one SD card to another? Mine recently filled up, and I have a second, but I would rather organize them rather than just start using the new one.

Geez that Chibi Lightning is too adorable and badarse for words.

@Xyphon22 Not sure if you can do it via computer but you can move it to system memory then to the card you want.
