Honestly speaking, they could remaster them, but I don't think it's necessary. Even Prime 1 has aged extremely well in the visual department. The real issue with Prime on Switch is the control scheme. I don't think the gyro can replicate the precision of IR aiming.
I don't think that precision is the issue because gyros can be just as accurate. The issue is that such a control scheme would seriously limit the way the game could be played. The controls for Metroid Prime 3 as they were on the Wii would not work in portable mode.

Maybe the right stick (not found on previous hardware) could be used to replace motion controls? This is still pre-Motion-Plus controls, and those levers are not overly complex to use, even during the one part where you have to time the movements (pretty much, down to pull, left to twist, forward to push). The real downside to such a method is the many enemies that require precision aiming to deal with (though perhaps this could also be dealt with by readjusting lock-on behavior to target weak points, somewhat like the first two games did with certain bosses).
@Spanjard Wow, that looks surprisingly solid. And I've just realized now that the right joy-con does include an IR sensor. There should be no problem at all replicating Wii-style shooters, then. We just need more of them.
I don't think the IR sensor would work unless you spun the JoyCon around so that it faced the TV backwards. I could be wrong, though.
@MarcelRguez That would be a very Nintendo way of doing things, because that's the most convoluted way I've seen someone describe the way the Switch handles motion controls! I mean, it could work in theory, but I don't think the tech is there yet. Plus, there are easier ways to replicate the pointer controls of the Wii Remote.
The Switch uses a gyroscope sensor to replicate the pointer controls. The IR camera is only used in 1-2-Switch so far. It can recognise simple shapes, but that's about it. It doesn't have anything to do with the Wii Remote's IR sensor.
@MarcelRguez Yep, it's all gyro. Have you ever played Skyward Sword? Because the ''pointer'' controls in that game were gyro too. Glad they improved the tech over the years though, it was way too sluggish in SS.
I don't think you're going to see much use out of that IR camera either. It's a little gimmick. At least they're not expensive.
@MarcelRguez I have yet to see a game get optimised for gyro controls that used pointer controls before. Of course, that's software related, if the Switch is able to emulate Wii game. If they have to port Wii games, well, then I'm sure they can implement the gyro controls too.
For those interested in the CoD situation, Modern Warfare Remastered seems to be getting a standalone release on June 27th. No word on Switch of course though.
The same guy in Neogaf who leaked that MH World was MH5, and developed by MH team, has said there is A MH Switch game in development but supposedly under wraps to not take wind out of MH World sails. I'm going to read the thread now, I'll update this post with all the juicy details later or maybe tomorrow.
So we may yet have hope. If he's right, though, Capcom won't bring XX to the west.
I've been playing Bomberman today and it may only be me but the Red Bomber comes across like he was modelled after Scrappy Doo and Plasma Bomber modelled after Goku.
@skywake Is that "can be just as accurate" based on theory or do you have any examples in mind? I know I don't have any. Corruption would need quite a rework with all the push-pull-twist movements you have in that game, yes. That game is one of the main reasons why I don't see it happening, sadly.
Skyward Sword comes to mind but all of the aiming in any game on the 3DS is based on gyro controls. I've also played with a few gyro mice over the years. You can definitely get something as accurate as the Wii pointer controls with the gyro. So as I said, the issue with Wii controls on the Switch is more that you can't replicate two independent motion controllers in portable mode. Not without changing the game's controls dramatically.

@Luna_110
Oh ya, that goes all the way back to the 4chan/Neogaf rumor that predicted World, and said Portable series will continue on Switch.
I don't think anyone doubts MH will continue on Switch. The issue is localization. And if they don't localize XX, what else might they not localize? That's the concern. I see MHXX as a show of faith from Capcom stating "we'll be all over Switch this generation, look, here's a game just a few months in, take this for now and we'll be back". They were never going to flush millions of sales down the toilet for much easier releases on a single platform.
But if they decide Worlds will be their western income, and don't wanna cannabilize it with a separate entry in the west, it may be all we get. Which hey, I'll still be happy. Worlds looks insane. But I'd be 1000x happier if I got both.

Ya, was gonna post that but it's kinda just reconfirming what we already know. Nintendo done goofed again. Take your pick: it's the Wii, amiibo, Pokemon GO Plus, NES Classic Mini(and the separate NES Classic Mini controller) all over again.
